As a photographer, do you think "fake" bokeh is kinda lame?

I have been a full time pro for nearly 30 years, it's software bokeh, nothing new really, kind of like machine learned Gaussian Blur. The new cameras are pretty cool but with all the competition we knew they would be.

And now cue the idiotic punditry of "Who needs a pro"....3,2,1......lol!

I'll wait until I see more sample images, but I thought the photos used to demonstrate bokeh in the iphone 7 Plus looked too manipulated by software (as they indeed are). The edges on the subject were much too sharp, for example. It was obvious to me the subject was cropped and pasted onto the one with bokeh.

Fellas I'm calling BS on the claim that the battery difference is only 1 hour between the 7 & 7+. Though I totally called the 2+ hours of battery life. I'm definitely more impressed this year than last year. Day 1 pre-order with air pods!

What is the problem?

They are providing you an adapter free of charge. And they're moving into the fully digital world.

To me it sounds like a win-win.

Agreed... in less than a year you'll wonder why it took so long. I think it's very logical and good to see Apple make this change. Should be better all around.

I laugh at you, what a unnecessaey comment. There is not.
The number of people I see swapping SIM's as the plane comes in to land rather implies there is a significant market. I compromise by having a travel phone with another 2 SIM's, and tethering my iPhone (I really don't want to disconnect my home number) to it. Maybe you just don't travel so much.

Are the dimensions the same as the 6S? Could I just buy a 6S Plus BookBook case now and it would fit the 7 Plus?

Be careful which model you choose if you want it to work on all carriers. The AT&T, T-Mobile, and possibly SIM-free version (Models A1778 and A1784) will not work on CDMA networks. If you want one that works on all carriers get the Verizon version (Models A1660 and A1661) because those are unlocked.

The big feature here is the quad-core A10 Fusion with 2 efficient cores and 2 high performance ones.

I don't care about the colours, as it'll be stuck in a case anyway. In terms of features, nothing outweighs the loss of a jack.

Apart from the thousand pound price tag in the UK!!

Why are so many people charging their phones and listening to music?? Do you all really do this so much? If so, why? If I can charge my phone then it's likely i'm somewhere I can use another device - eg my home cinema, my home hi-fi or my home recording studio setup...why would I be using headphones in my iPhone if I have access to these?

Do you not have a job?!

By the way, I love how they kept referring to the standard headphone jack as outdated, old analog technology. Yesterday it was still the latest and greatest and ALL apple headphone products used it, even the rechargeable ones. Strong marketing push. They must be well aware of the general

For this to make sense Apple now need to remove the audio jack from every level of the audio recording stack. That means the guitar, the effects, the amp and the mixing desk - the all use the outdated, old, analog jack.

Ever charge your phone while listening to music or watching a movie?
Another thing to lose with a high replacement cost. Not the end of the world, sure.

It costs them nothing and is a good hedge against the loss of new sales from those still requiring a jack and highest performance analogue sound.
but they still didn't upgrade the SE it still has 16GB when i'm sure due to die sizes it cost more than offering 32gb base.

So what do you think the real story is?

Did they think they could go from a 2 year to 3 year design life, or was the real iPhone 7 going to be too late to market so they needed this stop gap?

So if you are at the airport or school and want to recharge your phone while listening to music, what should you do? Your home cinema or home hi-fi system isn't very travel friendly.

Travel. If i'm spending 3-8 hours in transit, it's nice to be able to charge the phone in the plane or trane.

If i'm driving somewhere, it's nice to be able to play music and podcasts from the phone via aux in on my car stereo while charging it. I'm not interested in buying a new car stereo.

Gaming. I do this at home on my iPhone. I wear headphones most of the time to not disturb my family.

Listening to music with headphones at home. I have some great headphones, and sometimes I like to listen to music with headphones rather than over my stereo system, especially after the kids go to bed or if somebody else is watching TV or reading in the living room.
