You do know that the concept of "Jet Black" is a matte finish, apparently Apple doesn't.Does anyone know where I can pre-order the Sim-Free iPhone 7?

I buy subsidized every year which makes them free if you sell old one and never pay the "added" charge as my phone lines are always off contract. You just have to convert lines and swap some sims (the 10 a month sims go to the ipad and kiddo's iphone). What's stupid is financing iphones for full price. That is the extra cost you're paying. There have never been subsidised phones, the cost was built into your monthly plan charge!
Not buying. Waiting for next year's redesigned iPhone 8.
iPhone 7: £599, £699, £799
iPhone 7 Plus: £719, £819, £919
UK pricing is crippling lol
That's nothing that wouldnt happen to any other gloss black product ever made. You'd be surprised to find out that nearly every car on the road has a gloss surface that is susceptible to micro abrasions, yet they seem to do just fine.
I had a water resistant android that had an open headphone jack, water resistance is not a valid reason. As for superior audio technology it is always going to have to be converted to analogue at some point, apple could have just put in a better DAC in the iPhone, or the people that care about it could have already bought lightning headphones. The benefits are improved water resistance, freeing up space for other hardware, and pushing people toward superior audio technology. You might not personally care for any of these benefits, but nevertheless they are benefits.
The adaptor shows how little faith Apple have in removing the headphone jack.
Imagine Apple under Jobs including an adaptor.
.....unless you get low on battery and need the lightning port to charge the phone...Yeah, at least they provide the adaptor and the adaptor isn't too obtrusive... my Bose will live to play another day.
What is the problem?
They are providing you an adapter free of charge. And they're moving into the fully digital world.
To me it sounds like a win-win.
no it didn't have to happen, proprietary items from apple, adapters. it's all bad and doesn't require losing the headphone jack at all. They could have easily kept it there with minimal to NO IMPACT on the phone. It's just a shill to make you pay for more apple only products. It had to happen sometime. I'd say courage is accurate.
If Apple had any courage, they'd admit Lightning is a mistake and switch to USB-C. If they're going to remove the headphone jack, at least use a different standard connector.
Not at all a win-win.
Audio is and always will be a analog signal, no getting around this.
And on the note of "free of charge", what happens when you loose your adapter (which, a ton of people will) that comes free?
There is a reason the headphone jack has been a standard for so long, its because it makes sense practically audio speaking, removing it is an inconvenience and there is no getting around that.
Ya, I'm annoyed by the move. But them deciding to pull the plug (hehe) is truly an act of courage. Time will tell if it was also intelligent.

And, it includes Apple Care...You buy the phone and AppleCare+ with a 24 month interest free loan, make twelve payments and then Apple buy it back from you by paying off the balance of the loan and you get a new phone on a new 24 month loan. Some will say "I can sell a year old phone for more than 50% of its original cost" so it's up to you if you think it's worthwhile.
