The big question is, when does it come to magic keyboards e.g. for iMac?!
So you think it is perfectly fine to spend so much money on the laptop and then spend more to buy adapters to get basic functionality? Plus the inconvenience of carrying the adapter wherever you go... And you think other people don't get it? What a joke..You REALLY think that FOUR USB-C/TB3 Ports with 40 Gbps bandwidth are a "Compromise"?!?
Do you have ANY idea exactly how many "traditional" I/O ports you can make out of that much I/O bandwidth???
You just don't get it.
You'll will be able to do that, but you'll have to come up with $49 more dollars to buy the adaptor.Imagine buying a new MacBook Pro and not being able to set your iPhone 7 up via iTunes because it has no USB ports any more![]()
You're not the only one no. I'm astonished by these prices.
About the RAM... let's keep in mind that RAM is becoming less and less important than it used to be. RAM is not doubling sooner as it used to be. Reason? SSD. The new MacBook Pro is capable of reading and writing at least blazing fast 2GB per second. RAM was created as a response to the limitations of HHD and now with SSD being extremely fast with access and transfer, the importance of RAM is much less emphasized than ever. It makes no sense to keep expanding RAM storage if the performance is not as significant as it used to be. 16GB is likley the provide the most bang for the buck and more than that, it just doesn't give you much added value.
Do not expect RAM to keep doubling quickly anymore. With upcoming 3DXPoint technology, the storage will be just as fast as RAM and they may reduce the RAM footprint as well.
Not if you're on a plane. You're not getting it. You need wireless headphones!
So aside from a monitor, is Thunderbolt used for anything? Surprised to see 3 ports dedicated to it, when it seems USB is where it's at these days.
Not if you're on a plane.
Now, one thing that is still a big deal is the non-user-replaceable battery. We tend to keep computers a lot longer than phones, so not having a replaceable battery will be a huge pain eventually.
Right. The LG displays featured in the keynote:
LG UltraFine 5K Display

almost 6 years on and still only 16GB of RAM. their courage is really showing.
Audio Ports!?! F'n Hell Apple. Now I have to carry one set of lightning headphones for my iPhone7 and a separate pair of analog or usbC headphones just for my mac?! Such a fail!![]()
Whilst it's true it has more functionality, for the price they're asking it should function as a sub space communicator and let me talk to the mythical planet of Magrathea.Second person to slam the Touch Bar as an "emoji bar" despite it being shown as so many things other than that.
Hmm…
You clearly don't understand (or don't want to understand) the "Gorilla Arm" syndrome. It is caused by reaching out toward a display that is a couple of FEET in front of you (like a desktop monitor) for extended periods of time. The Tool Bar on the new MacBook Pros is on the same PLANE as the keyboard, and so does not require the "Reach out" sort of action with your arm suspended in the air.
Right... My MBP Late 2014 is 2 years old and the battery sucks !!!!No, the new batteries can last you 5 years without losing too much of its juice, totally different from the batteries 10 years ago.
Yeah, that is why there was entry level Macs and Pro Macs. What Apple farted out today should have been called MacBook Air 2. What we saw today is not a Pro machine.???????????????????????????????????????????
80% of mac users use their computer for going to websites like facebook etc and email...none these changes will affect that use one bit.
That is the nature of being a publically traded company. You gotta keep those margins high if you're going to keep your stock prices afloat. If you can't expand forever (you can't), you have to eat your children. The golden age of Apple is long gone. These machines still work great, but each iteration is slightly less satisfying than the last. I will be very, very surprised if most "pro" Mac users are still on a Mac in ten years.
For years we got new features at the same price points as before (it was called technological progress). But now Apple wants to make us believe that we have to pay more for each new feature (iMac Retina, iPad Pro 9.7, MacBook Pro with Touch Bar) :-(
