So for all the notch complaints, how would you imagine a camera embedded behind the screen with no notch?

Parallels runs ARM W11 just fine, and ARM W11 runs x86 code reasonably well.

The got rid of the major beveling on the bottom, and it looks more like the older Intel MBPs; certainly makes sense in terms of interior space, and ability to use larger ports.

I like the old design better. This looks like a Windows laptop from early 2010s, minus the thinness.

The only reason why “this looks like a Windows laptop from [the] early 2010s” is because it took PC manufacturers 7 years to copy Apple's PowerBook G4 aluminium design, from 2003. This thing looks absolutely like one of those, with a PowerBook G4 titanium screen grafted onto it. I.e. as Apple-like as it could.

I’m totally fine with a notch. much more on my laptop where the menu bar integrates with it than my phone. I’d rather have that black space used than not used.

For those of you complaining about the notch, I'm sure there will be an app to just blacken the screen to the left and right of the notch and you'll have nothing to complain about. Me - I'll take the extra screen space, thank you.

Remember when people used to complain that Apple doesn't believe in form following function? Now we have the exact opposite with you criticizing technology for how it looks...and claiming it's the worst tech for it. Absolutely ridiculous.

The accuracy of rumours for this event tells me that Apple Watch 7 was most likely supposed to be a redesign but something happened along the way.

Possibly, but there is also no-way they u-turned and still delivered a redesign, just less different in the timescales those rumours were active. It’s more likely Apple has many variants of its products in development, like they’ll know for sure what next years model will deliver already and most likely have a good idea of 2023 too - and those rumours just got jumbled.

Can someone explain to me what all these issues with the notch are? It’s a very smart use of the space. The alternative? Having a thicker bezel and having the status bar take away from the actual screen space. I really don’t get this.

im glad it wasn't really "iPad Pro" -esque in design and more like a homage to older MacBooks/PowerBooks
the notch sucks so much though, sorry not sorry, hoping there will be software hacks that leak you permabump the menubar down and black out that top area so it looks NORMAL.

Notch is stupid but we’ll get used to it. The fact that all the ports and function keys they took away are now back is slightly irritating. To stick to OS X I had to buy a laptop lacking function which they have now returned. Absolute PITA!!

No, I will NOT get used to it. Not me.
