Which is nuts. Its' the same area where there's currently a bezel. There's a net zero loss of screen real estate. The menu bars shift up.

More than I'd like to spend. I would have liked to see a replacement for the old 13" MBP with some of the new (old) features (MagSafe, no touch bar, HDMI) starting at around $1499 or so. I would have jumped at that.

The notch works! They handle the notch well. Many people who haven’t seen the event here complain without knowing that the fullscreen mode works fine.
Interesting. I was reading and I understood Microsoft wasn't officially supporting Parallels. I'd just like something more “permanent” if I could. Especially since, when I trade in my 2015 MBP for a new one, I'll be giving up Mojave (hence my lifetime Dreamweaver license); I can lose MS-Office (NeoOffice is fine) but Dreamweaver has no replacement and is #*$&(!^! expensive to rent. Also, I do have ancient, and I mean ancient, Windows software I still need.
Ah yes, a 50% increase over its predecessor (AU). Yes, prices are good. Okay.
WHO needs MagSafe and hdmi? Can all be done with usb c and proper displays.
Yay, all the supposed pros that have been kvetching about the lack of MagSafe and SD card reader over the last five years have found a new thing to grumble about... 
So many experts in here. 🤣 ... that are not even the target demographic and don't have $2000 to drop on a Pro laptop. 🤣

The notch fills the space that was empty due to the screen border. You didn't have it before and now it is put to good use. People complaining about the notch reminds me of the Louis CK joke with the internet in the airplane.
They really couldn't figure out a way with bezels like that to have no notch?
As always the hardware far outshines the design. I remember a time not too long ago when Apple products used to beautiful and functional at the same time. There’s really no need for a notch in such a big product as a laptop but they still did it. And why is still there the chin with differently coloured strip? And the chassis is not an improvement over the previous one at all. The whole product looks so out of place. And the all black keyboard? Why? It’s more pro because it’s black? This could be great but Apple only did what people wanted without any real extra effort. But kudos to the SoC team though. They are the only truly innovative part of Apple that always delivers.
Insanely happy! Notch is interesting. Will live with it I guess. Assuming prices will be crazy, but I will probably be ordering... Won't miss out on no magsafe as I'm coming from a 2015 air!
Not that many years ago, people were bitching about what Ive had done with a redesigned Macbook. Too thin, keyboard sucked (well, yes, it did), small battery life, no ports! People bitch.
So, Ive goes away, Apple does a total redesign with (gasp) ports, a larger battery, and whatnot. People bitch.

Performance is insane.
Design not so insane…… for the first time ever I think I was disappointed in the design. And we all know why this has happened.
Will be ordering the. 14” litterally maxed out as it is exactly what I have been waiting for.

Notch is unacceptable, thickness is not great, price is higher than I expected.
but it’s a home run in terms of performance, battery life, function keys, ports, camera, etc.
In any case… I’m not the target market for these, but I enjoy seeing these events anyway.
