LMAO. People got excited that a meaningful update to the Mac line-up was on the way...

And then this...

I think it's a sign of how much people want updated desktop Macs. Even the iMac, which is in the best shape of all the desktops is over 500 days old (the average being around 300).

I wonder if they all have the new non-shatter screens or if it's just the red one. It does have a new level of protection so it doesn't have to be put in a case. Right? That's the point correct?

Ah. Just noticed it's a premium model like Jet Black. Not available in 32GB.

Is there anyone left at Apple with any aesthetic sensibility? Red with a white front?? Those watch bands in endless disgusting permutations... the pink "rose gold" and the gold and white colour lines for the new laptops and iOS devices... iDespair... iReallyDo

What a great update to the online store. 128gb iPhone SE is welcome, but I have a 64gb model and why update if there is no other internal upgrades.

Thats fast typing from Macrumor's behalf, I see no announcement, only a banner on the iPhone 7 page.
+ iPad Air has been renamed iPad "new", and iPad mini 2 is gone...

I imagine they already had the article written and just needed to pass in relevant images. Like news broadcasters have pre-written obituaries for people they're pretty sure are gonna die soon.

The (some months ago rumored) white iPhone 7 could have convinced me. But a RED one won't. Today's updates focus me towards the 128GB iPhone SE.

No watch bands!?

On a serious note, nice red phone but fail that it's with white front. Only time I could accept white front would be with white body. Like the ceramic white concept.

Edit: my bad! New bands and colors available.

Product RED just exists to fund Product RED. For instance, in 2007 they spent $100 million on advertising and paying their execs and only $18 million on actually funding a cause. It's a big con for the suits and the ad-men.

I like the appearance of the Product Red iPhone 7, I'd love to trade my unopened Silver for it!

Quite like the red iPhone, but then realised that the ring around the home button doesn't match it, and is silver.

to celebrate 10 anniversary partnership with (RED), is that mean there will not be revolutionary design coming this year?

Cases aren't always used for protection from drops. I use a thin case to keep the sides and back from getting scratched to hell from normal use, and to some extent, to keep the corners from getting dinged with small drops. Having a shatter proof screen doesn't keep the aluminum from denting or scratching (which I hear it does very easily).

Apple today announced a new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition on its online store, following a scheduled "maintenance" break this morning.

The new color option is described as a vibrant red aluminum finish in recognition of more than 10 years of partnership between Apple and (RED), which Apple says give customers a way to contribute to the Global Fund and "bring the world a step closer to an AIDS-free generation".

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will be available in 128GB and 256GB models starting at $749 and from Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers (prices may vary).

The special edition iPhone joins the current (PRODUCT)RED lineup, which is available to purchase year-round, including the full iPod line of products, Beats Solo 3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, Beats Pill+ Portable Speaker, the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case and a range of accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

The new red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus model will be available to order online worldwide and in stores beginning Friday, March 24.

[doublepost=1490102011][/doublepost]It would appear that you can no longer buy an Apple Watch with a woven nylon band. If you want a woven nylon band... you will have to purchase it separately. I hope I'm wrong. :)

All the Product (RED) marketing materials and products seem to be the same specific shade of red. I'd say it's supposed to replicate the colour of blood given the nature of the charity.
I was more commenting on how the color translated well on the aluminum. The RED campaign might use the same pantone color of red but the substrate of the material will affect the color. Not every RED product looks as good as this one does to me. The only red I liked better is the deeper maroon-ish red of the S6 Iron Man phone (minus the garish gold of course).

You missed the sarcasm, but you make a valid point. Is this the one that doesn't scratch at all? Cause I don't see a lot a value in making a donation to Bono for something that will look like crap in five months.

Just a minor update from Apple today, hence no big song and dance. Not sure what some were expecting?? As for Mac's they'll come later in the year, possibly AFTER the iPhone 8/X/Edition has been announced.

I love the red, but not the white face. I'll stick with my black iPhone with the Product Red battery case. Looks much better with black.

I also wish the Gold one had the black face as well. That looks really nice on the 12"MacBook, it would look great on an iPhone.

Actually wish they would just get rid of the white faces. The black looks so much sleeker since it hides the camera, speakers and microphones so well.
