Apple Updates AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro Firmware to Version 3A283

What’s the best way to encourage the update? Do the AirPods need have the case open and plugged in to make sure they remain connected to the phone?
Holy ****! You are right. The sound seems to be coming right out of the iPad. It's crazy!
Connect your AirPods then go to general settings and About and tap on AirPods it will tell you the version there
I just put my AirPod Pro's on the wireless charging mat next to my phone and it's updated.
Been out for a quick walk on relatively busy streets and would have to say the ANC is much improved.
Safari seems snappier with the new AirPods update as well.
I mean, we were expecting “spatial audio movie soundtracks” or “spatial audio games”, but if you want “spatial audio heavy breathing”, well, whatever floats your boat.

Dam, I am still waiting for my AirPods to be updated for almost 1/2 hour now.
I’m hoping this means Apple will be getting into high fidelity audio.
Hardware is the physical AirPods. You can't replace those parts with software.
yeah, it doesn't even seem like I am wearing AirPods when I am using it!
IOS 14 Beta 6... (for AirPods Pro at least) there's a new Spatial Audio toggle available in the Accessibility section of the Settings app. Choose AirPods and then at the bottom of the screen, there's a "Follow iPhone" toggle. Follow iPhone makes audio for supported movies and TV shows sound like it's coming from the phone instead of following head movement. There's also new code and internal messaging related to the spatial audio feature. Though this toggle is available, Spatial Audio is not yet functional.
Right, but it will be available for existing AirPods. Enabling that functionality will not require replacing the AirPods, which is the only way the hardware version number would change.
Doing this wireless is much easier but
The case has to be open for let’s say.. 5-10 minutes (when I’m doing this) and paired to an iPhone
Then close the lid and let it stay for roughly a few minutes while the AirPods install the software and voila
Got the update and holy crap Spatial audio works!
I do notice it works if you move your head, however the audio does not move if you move your phone around.
