Apple Updates AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro Firmware to Version 3A283

Wow! My firmware updated pretty quickly to 3A283. I'll need to listen to some music and a few movies to see if there is a difference.
Automatic switching works as well. When I switch between iPad/iPhone, the headphones follow automatically. It changes as fast as FaceID gets the device unlocked. 🕺
That's telling you where the earbuds are connected for the automatic device switching
I can confirm after the update NC has slightly improved and bass response also. I compared 3 different song genres before and after and that's my findings. Nice Apple!!!

Should work in any player.
Spatial Sound works in AirVideo HD, using a 5.1 source file. Surround sound must be turned on in Audio settings. 😎
As a mild aside, for first time ever actually managed to get headphone sharing working between my pros and solo's, though I notice the audio sounds markedly worse when being shared on the pro's, not that noticeably different on the sol's. Anyone else got any experience on sharing?

I was able to get the iPhone/iPad switching. However, it does not work all the time. Also, it does not work when switching to and from the Apple TV (at least at the moment) which is disappointing.
My AirPods 2 sound much better, louder, better bass. I'm happy.
Question - Does Apple push out firmware updates to the PowerBeats Pro? I have a pair of those that has the connectivity issues, left one doesn't always connect then you need to re-seat them in the case to connect. I never see anything about that Firmware being updated...

Do you have to be using the IOS 14 beta for the new spacial audio to work? I’m not and still on IOS 13, so I guess I’ll have to wait until 14 is released.

The effect is uncanny indeed. Especially with transparency mode on, it sounds like a set of 360° speakers in the room, but no one else can hear it. And these speakers follow from one room to another.
Finally a 5.1 setup that I can blast after midnight. It should work with two pairs as well, I suppose, but haven’t tested.

I hope the "?" in my serial number space does not effect upgrade. Had to get one pod replaced
Good question. Beats has their own updating app. I update my over the ear beats on my MBP while plugged into USB.
