Apple does not appear to be referring to the new headphones as AirPods Max 2.
Yup! Same herekeeping mine - money saved
Add the B&W px7-s2 at list $399, weighs 307 grams compared to Airport Max 386.2 gramsI think Sony, Bose, Sennheiser and co will be happy about this announcement![]()
That's great, I'm glad they work well for you. It does make me wonder how many others you sampled but if they make you happy that is all that matters.I got my lightning version when Walmart had them for $350 a couple of months ago. To my ears, they sound better than any current gen., competing headphones. No regrets.
would kill all my joy of finally getting rid of all lightning products though.
I honestly can't believe it but no, they're still shipping H1 chips in their most expensive headphones. I really don't know what to say, I guess they built too many of the gen 1, priced them wrong, and are now refusing to take the L?Same bad design. Do they at least have the new chip?
They are so heavy, and the sagging headband issue is so annoying if you've had it a few years, you can't replace that part, Apple considers it normal wear and tear.I barely use mine, they just suck for comfort after a short amount of time, given this update I'll sell them and try out something different.
This is obviously Apple simply complying with the EU requirement for USB C connections by year end. A few new colors gives them something to talk about while not actually making any changes.
Apple today announced that the AirPods Max are being updated with a USB-C charging port and new color options, including Midnight, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Starlight.

In addition, Apple said the AirPods Max are gaining support for Personalized Spatial Audio with the upcoming iOS 18 software update.
The updated AirPods Max will be available to pre-order for $549 starting today, and the headphones launch on Friday, September 20.
Apple did not announce any other changes for the AirPods Max during its event.
Apple first released the AirPods Max with a Lightning port in December 2020, and the changes announced today are very minor, to the point that Apple does not appear to be referring to the new headphones as AirPods Max 2.

i don't remember them making this much of a deal when they updated the airpods charging case to usb-c. They said it's now available and you can buy it for your existing airpods; and that was about it.
Mac Pro would like a word with youIs this now basically the longest a product has gone with essentially zero actual updates (ok, adding a modern charging port is not an update IMHO)
No.Can you use a type-C to type-C cable to device for hard-wired (no latency) audio?
Just criminal to charge full price for a product with a H1 chip…
This is Tim Cook's Apple, guys. People like me have been saying this for a decade, now. He's a supply-chain guy, first and foremost, and as CEO he's beholden to "shareholders". From both perspectives, he's going to be as lazy as possible, only amending SKUs when they run out of current inventory. He doesn't care about doing the right thing, he only cares about the money. Is this a joke? Years for new colours and a port update. C’mon!
Also incorrect in several ways as a bonus
It is unlikely - there's no point now that Qi2 is a standard, and literally anyone can make an equivalent product.Shoots glance at Apple folding charging station that will never be updated
That’s what I’ve been thinking.Yeah, I think the H3 will introduced in September 2025 with both the AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods Max 2. It probably wasn’t ready yet and Apple probably wanted to wait rather than stuff in a relatively soon to be outdated H2.
That’s what I’ve heard too.XM5 hinges aren't good by all reports. XM4s are still more durable I believe.
