Updated and no improvement in the ANC here. who needs transparency mode when you can carry on a normal conversation with the ANC ‘on’. 😒

Am I the only one who can't get to the Airpods pane in iOS settings? I'm in settings/general/about, but there's no Airpods pane, and yes, they're definitely connected...

Boy, what if your car updated like this, outside your control.

You’d be wondering, “Will I be able to drive home tonight?”

Friend's model 3 did that. Came with rear seat heaters, but they weren't supposed to be on his trim level.

Couple months after purchase, car updated automatically on wifi, bam, rear seat heater's don't work

I thought I was going nuts - I have exactly the same issue with the right ear bud. Mine are on 2B588. I've had everything plugged in for about an hour already but still no update.
I just got it to update! I connected it to my iphone and left it connected while charging.

PS: I used to have the issue with the left ear bud now it switched to the right side lol.

I guess maybe if they stick to wireless charging, that might hold it off.....or they can want it to happen like us and then it'll NEVER happen.......ugh

The firmware updates when wirelessly charging. When I got my AirPods Pro they were on a pre 2C54 firmware. After I had them on wireless charging they got updated to 2C54.

Update:
Mine has literally just updated to firmware 2D15, with nothing more that a few seconds of the charging case been opened. Be interesting to hear the difference from 2C54 (although I never had issues with 2C54).

Not a fan of litigation but this deserves classaction status. Company sells product and significantly decreases functionality with forced firmware update with no release notes. This is garbage!

Edit: referring to reduced ANC with firmware updates last year after product release.

Until you charge the AirPods case and it will update. There's no way to stop it I'm afraid.
Charge them with your iPhone bluetooth off. Also I think I read that they only update when all batteries are at 100%, and I think its true with mine as they updated right now after reaching 100%.

Very confused either this didn't come out today or people are completely wrong on the update process. I just pulled my airpods from my pocket to see the about screen and they are on the new firmware. They haven't left my pocket until now.

So, I updated. Just made sure my pro's were connected to my 11 Pro Max. Played music for a little bit, put them in the case which was plugged in/charging..and forgot about them. When I came back, the case/pods were each at 100% and I was updated.

Yeah - the ANC is still the same. Nothing like the first version :(

However, better mid's and better staging. So, that's something :)

This isn't true.
Mine have just a few minutes ago updated to the new firmware, and my AirPods case is at 26 percent, and it isn't on charge. Mine updated with nothing more than having the charging case open for a few seconds.

I hope it fixes my issue with the right ear bud where it doesn't charge when I put them back in the case. It stays connected with my mac mini even in the case and it will drain the battery instead of charging.

Same for me. After being burned a few times, I have since been paying very close attention to the green light when I put each airpod in the case. The light will flash quickly once the airpod touches the charging connector. If I don't see it flash, then I take it out and put it back in. Haven't had a problem since.

I had a FaceTime chat with a friend at lunchtime today and he told me new firmware was out. I planned to update this afternoon. As soon as we hung up our phone call, I turned on my iPad Pro and started Netflix. I tried to switch audio from iPhone 11 to iPad Pro… and it happened super fast. I was happily surprised. I later went to drag in the garbage cans, something that I do every week. I had immediately noticed with the 2C54 how the ANC was less effective against the rumbling of the cans as I dragged them across pavement compared to when I first bought the AirPods Pro. I was happy to note today that ANC seemed much more effective again against the deep rumbling noise. When I got back in house I checked and saw that my firmware had already updated to 2D15 and that helped explain the better ANC and the faster switching. So, two good experiences so far.

I later decided to do ear fit test and was surprised to be told that I had poor fit with the regular size. No matter how I tried to adjust them in my ear, I kept getting reports of a bad fit. So then I decided to swap tips for Large. Couldn't get a good test. Swapped tips for small. Still couldn't get them to give a good fit. All of the tips would be comfortable enough for me to be happy with, but I switched back to normal size. Still have a report of a bad fit, but I am pleased so far with the feel in my ears and the sound that I hear.

Mine updated and they are a bit better in the NC category..... seem to suppress more of the middle frequencies I was hearing before. Volume at 60% (where I normally listen) and the my music seems a bit fuller. FWIW is does better than the 2C54

This firmware is a marked improvement. I guess I forgot how bad ANC was on the prior firmware.
Which is why they pulled it
