Just put the earpieces back in the case, close the lid and plug in on a Windows pc. Put your phone nearby. When the upgrade is done, you will hear the pc have the classic sound of usb devices disconnect and reconnect. The upgrade took < 5 min for me.

I just got the update. Improved bass, clearer vocals. Overall noticeably better sound. I can’t speak for the noise cancelling yet as I'm in a quiet room. Also I don’t know if this fixes other issues plaguing some of you guys as I have only experienced the crackling and it was alleviated after a did a forget this device, reset AirPods pro to default, and reset network connections before re-pairing them.

Wow! I had the 2C54 firmware since its release and noticed the sound was different but never had any issues. Just updated to this firmware version and immediately notice the bass and volume - sound quality in general is back to what it was when I bought them in November last year.

Mine updated, and, as expected, did not resolve this issue for me. I laughed when I saw you describe blowing air through it.. I tried it.. and it seems to have slightly improved it. But yeah, I think I'll have to get it replaced, just dreading when AppleCare+ runs out. I've already used up one allowance. I think we get 2?

I didn’t buy AppleCare+, replacement was covered under normal warranty. I wouldn’t think this should count against you. This is a product defect, wasn’t due to damage. Yours should still be under warranty as well, as these haven’t been out a year yet.

i too can’t get my airpods to update from 2C54
tried charging, taking it out of the case, listening music, still 2C54

i managed to get my AirPods Pro updated by doing the following steps -
1. get both APP and iPhone charging
2. open the airpods case to get it connected to iphone. then closed the case and left it for a while..
3. ???
4. fw updated

Just took mine on a nighttime walk... and I can’t speak on ANC, I thought it was pretty good before, but I do believe bass is more prominent and the overall sound is better...

Lots of lawyers on here, apparently!

My right APP has stopped working properly after the update. I was able to reset them, it worked fine for a few minutes, then stopped working again.

I got these at launch and wow they are back to sounding AWESOME again! The ANC is like before as well. This took way to long for Apple to fix. Don’t get me wrong I am glad it’s fixed but common Apple....

I just updated the AirPods Pro to the "new" 2D15 firmware and it does not fix the noise cancellation issue. I waited months for this update, after Apple promised me the update would fix my issue. It did not. There is virtually no noise cancellation, nothing like it was before Apple reached in and "updated" my original firmware, which worked fantastically, to firmware they pulled days later. Very frustrated that my very expensive AirPods Pros still do not function as they did when I purchased them. Shame on you, Apple

I’m sticking with 2B588 for a while

LOL, no you're not. Not unless you're just going to unpair them and throw them in a drawer.

Not a fan of litigation but this deserves classaction status. Company sells product and significantly decreases functionality with forced firmware update with no release notes. This is garbage!

Edit: referring to reduced ANC with firmware updates last year after product release.

Lemme guess, you're a lawyer and want your firm to handle the case. Lawyers get rich, the affected consumers get $5 iTunes cards.

Having worn them paired with my PC all day on VC's I have to say that the ANC is back to what it was a few iterations ago.
So much so that my ears feel...odd this afternoon. Pressurised almost.

I have a great idea Apple, how about have release notes so we as the consumers know what was changed or fixed.
The notes is going to say stuff like google do
“Improve the rattlers that bring music to your ears” or if it tells you the real thing, would you even understand?
“Enhance driver synchronicity and increase voice coil to chassis pressure”
Don’t be a wise guy.

I’ve been impatiently waiting for four days for my AirPod Pros to get updated to the 2C54. I checked 30 min ago and they’ve been updated to the 2D15 w/o me asking/requesting. We’ll see how this goes.

After update to 2D15 rattling is gone and overall sound is a lot better, especially dryer bass. 👍

Noise cancellation objectively better, though not as good as original release date firmware. Music sounds better, particularly bass.

Wrong I’m just in favor of consumer rights and unfortunately a lawsuit is sometimes the only form of protection to prevent or overturn abuse. Apple made a product, I bought it and they significantly changed it leaving me with no recourse. I’d be perfectly happy if they allowed me to downgrade the firmware forced upon me. Without this option damn right let the lawyers get their share with some kind of punishment for bad behavior.

Edit: spelling
