Yeah, I haven't been following much with current AMD GPU options, sounds like the 560 is a modest bump. I know it's not directly comparable, but just a swag, where do you think it would fall relative to nVidia performance? 1060 maybe?

That would be an overstatement. The 2015 MBP's dedicated graphics fell below the then-nVidia 950M. I would say this one is at most comparable to nVidia 1050.

The MacBook still continues to worship at the temple of the almighty dongle (J. Ive, Pastor) with one port for charging and everything else. Also, there is still no configuration with a larger than 512GB SSD.
The 13 inch MBP still has no SSD larger than 1TB and no stock configuration larger than 512GB (I wonder what year it is in Cupertino).
Prices are all still really high.
Apple refuses to realize that a goodly number of people will pay to have mega storage in a small form factor.
And, for me, there is still no useful purpose for the touch bar. The only time I look at it is to change volume or brightness, which I used to be able to do without looking. I have bought into so many great Apple products with cutting edge innovations over the years. But, this Touch Bar is useless.

Well, Apple seem to have increased the prices for the new MacBook Pro 13 inch by about 100- $150 here in Norway... and rather tellingly they appear to have removed the 2015 MacBook Pro - I guess that's that was selling too well (despite the apparently "amazing" pre-orders for the 2016 model)

I find Tim Cooks treatment of his customers rather galling. The guy talks BS like a politician, and then does the opposite of his rhetoric.

Anyone got any info on the new SSD speeds - 'up to 50% faster', but the specs pages don't list speed and the overview pages are still listing 3.2GB read speed, same as 2016 models. To be honest, at this point it's diminishing gains and most people would probably rather double the capacity at the same price than have 50% more speed...

Bring back the SD card slot! #BringBackSDCardSlot

Seriously. This is SO ridiculous! Apple knows that professionals rely on the SD card slot! It's even on the new updated iMacs AND the new iMac Pro. Come on! Apple, just swallow your pride and bring it back. You know you should.

All the folks who bought 2016 MPBs are now furious. ...myself included.

As well you should be - at yourself. The 2015s were still available when you bought yours, and they're much nicer. They're not as nice as the 2012s, but those are kind of hard to find, because nobody in their right mind would give one up, since there have only been downgrades since those came out.

Look, the 2016 MBP is crap, and so is this one.

Maybe there will be a better model next year. I'm not holding my breath.

Do we have any confirmation on what a Radeon 560 actually is? I can't find any specs for it online - some sites speculate that it's just a rebadged 460 (possibly with a minor clock speed boost - but Apple clocks GPUs oddly anyway). Others speculate that it might be a low-end to midrange Vega... There doesn't seem to be any other laptop using it. If it's really a 460, it's NOTHING new - if it's a Vega, that could be a significant upgrade.

The processor boost at the high end (i7 6920 2.9-3.8 gHz to i7 7920 3.1-4.1 gHz) is actually slightly better than average for a tock boost - the clock speed boost is 7.9%, while many are under 5%...

NO 32 GB is a big disappointment, but not unexpected. What disappoints me more is that we're almost certainly waiting until next spring to see it - if they WERE going to add a fall model with 32 GB, they would have previewed it with the iMac Pro. They just admitted to ONE pro computer they can't ship for 6 months - if they had two of them, they would have admitted to both.

I was NEVER expecting a 4 TB SSD option - those are rare, exotic, and I'm not sure they even exist in a physical size that would fit in the MacBook Pro. I had hoped they'd drop the price on the 2 TB option a bit, but a 2 TB Samsung 960 still costs $1309 at Newegg (and Apple's internal SSD is a close relative). The "Apple tax" on this is not huge - a 512 GB 960 is $324, so the difference at retail is around $1000 - a 20% Apple tax on the upgrade is annoying, but certainly nothing like some of their 200% tax upgrades (storage increments on the iPhone can be marked up by 200% or more, for example)!

Actually TheVerge is reporting that it's only the Macbook getting faster SSD's, not the MBP's... And this 'up to 50% faster' is a feature on the Macbook overview page (under very specific conditions) so likely MB not MBP...

Still only the announcement APFS is coming to the notebooks at today's event. Will have to wait until Q4 for its inclusion as Apple originally estimated. :(

560 RX would be comparable to Nvidia 1050. 560RX is a levelentry GPU. The RX560 is a $99US retail for the desktop card...

If the Apple variant is anything like the 460Pro vs 460RX, the 560Pro would be slower than the regular RX version due to thermal considerations - http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-460-vs-Radeon-Pro-460.

Here's a benchmark and overview of the RX560.
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2940/radeon-rx-560

The 570RX is comparable to the Nvidia 1060... ( looking at benchmarks, 1060 is still faster ).

The complete lack of audience enthusiasm is hilarious. Also the fact that the MacOS segment skipped over the touchbar entirely says everything about where Apple puts that tech on its list of priorities. I know they can't drop it after only 8 months but don't be surprised if TB vanished completely in the next update.

I think the time spent on Macs compared to the time spent on iPads tells the most complete story.

Apple doesn't want to sell macs anymore.

So no 32gb I guess?

I thought I saw rumors about desktop-class ram going into the new MacBook Pro 15's, with Kaby Lake allowing for optimal power consumption, but I guess that didn't happen.

No one seems to be reporting on this.
