All the benchmarks and analysis seems to point to HD5200 being on par or slightly worse than 650M on gaming but noticeably better in OpenCL.

So, is it an upgrade or downgrade?

When would the improvement in OpenCL shine?

Mini next please mr cook.

Ps pcie ssd please

Pps skip the crappy intel gfx and slap something meaty in there please

I'd be happy with Iris Pro gfx in my next Mini.

I may just wind up building a cheap Steambox for my games though. Aside from graphics my current server is just fine.

I expect that all the Macs will be updated to PCIe based SSDs when they're updated. As for the graphics, if it's the Iris Pro, it's not crappy.

How does the 750M GPU compare to last year's 680MX? Also how the top 780M compare to the 680MX?
Basing this on the 780M that has been around, the 780MX is a few percent faster than the 680MX.

Great news. Hopefully the Mini and MacBook line get updates soon too. I have displays I like to use so the iMac is out for me, but it is a breath of fresh air in the Mac side of MacRumors ;) .

still no Retina Display so still won't be getting one :-(

This obsession is really, really dumb. The current generation is 109ppi which at a normal viewing distance pretty much is Retina. "Retina" is just a clever term the Apple marketing department spun to say "the pixels are so small at viewing distance that you can't tell them apart". A Retina iMac in the classical term of doubling in both directions is just stupid, its massive overkill and good luck powering that many pixels with a current-gen mobile processor. Yes, the new Mac Pro will be able to power 4K displays, but 4K displays were never intended to be included in 27" monitors because the resolution is unnecessary. I have an rMBP, and I wouldn't buy a iPad mini until it is made Retina, because those are both legitimate screen sizes where pixel density makes a noticeable difference, so I get the attraction there. However when I plug my rMBP into my ancient 20" Cinema display running a mere 1680 x 1050 resolution I can honestly say that the side by side difference isn't very noticeable because I don't sit two inches from my monitor.

I can't understand people who want this or that on their computer or device just because they want the "latest and best" with no real reason; fortunately for me you drive down the prices of the products which are actually fit for purpose with no silly gimmicks by price discrimination so by all means hold out, just please stop whining about it like its a big deal.

Too bad the Nvidia GPU in 21.5" isn't that much better than before, same amount of shaders (384) with increased core/memory clock.

Would have been much better if they went with 760M or better.

Iris Pro on the cheapest base model is a nice touch though.

I'll probably go for 27" model with 775m (rebrand of 680M, which is still fast)

Will a Haswell really make any difference in the iMAc?
Only a few percent faster. Also probably use a tad less electricity. If you're also getting a Fusion Drive or SSD, that also adds in to the improvement. And if you are doing any heavy graphics, those changes will help.

Dang now I want to sell my 9 month old iMac and get the new one! Totally did not see this coming but with the upcoming announcements on the iPad line they can't crowd it like they did last year.
Why? Unless you're running your iMac flat out getting a new iMac will probably not help much.

Their timing is always problematic. We just upgraded our college labs to the "new" iMacs in August. Mainly, we needed better graphics chips (from our original 128 mb iMacs). I wish Apple had a summer upgrade cycle so that we could get the newer machines for the start of the semester. The iMacs we purchased have 512 mb. Now 1 gb seems to be standard, along with 8 gb of RAM. By the time we can afford to upgrade the labs again, we'll probably once again end up behind the curve....

Edit: Whoa! Finally a 1 tb SSD option -- for an additional $1000.

1TB for $1000? I remember the MacBook Air having a 64GB SSD upgrade from the same price.

No thunderbolt 2?

Does it has thouderbolt 2 ports ?

Just minis, MacBooks and Mac Pros to go!

I'd wager that the Pro and the MacBooks get updated with a little fanfare alongside the Mavericks launch and the mini gets a silent upgrade either at the same event or a week or two ahead.

This is surprising. I would have thought the other systems were on hold until Mavericks. This may be more of a statement about Mavericks readiness than anything.

How so?

Releasing too many products at once is not a smart move as it is difficult to ramp up production for many different new products all at once on the same schedule.

Apple could release Mavericks late next month alongside new rMBP, cMBP, Mac Mini and Mac Pro. That's a lot of products. Most likely just some of those will be released alongside Mavericks.
