Hmm, the update is generally positive, as I do like the expanded mini-player, though I have a few albums for which there is no artwork (demos and the like), plus some artwork that is fairly low-res (and for which I can't find better alternatives), which makes it a bit mixed as a permanently open player. I'd personally rather have the option of expanding the artwork when I hover over the mini-player, but leave it in the smaller form the rest of the time.

Also, the addition of the cancel button on searches is weird, what was wrong with the blue magnifying glass that you clicked to close search again? The mixture of icons and textual buttons feels very unpolished; at the very least an X icon should have been more than sufficient.

The iTunes 11 update may have had missing features, but at least what was there felt a bit more polished than this "improved" interface.

That worked. But seeing that I use Itunes match it would be nice if they corrected the albums on iTunes, having to go through my entire music collection to fix this will suck.

Very difficult to get right. For example, I bought a 7 CD boxset on Amazon of which six CDs were matched - turns out that iTunes sells these six CDs individually, but not the seventh. Getting the album art for six CDs would destroy the boxset. I have one song that is actually on two albums by different artists (Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin, the title of the song would be a good quiz question), so which one will it match? There are albums that are released with different songs in the USA and Europe, which often has the annoying effect that one song doesn't match. You'll have songs from "Best of" albums matched with songs of the original album and vice versa.

Thanx apple, I sent you a letter of complaints for the mini player...all of my issues are corrected, now I am back to happy mode ;),

now I want radio streaming in iTunes on my iPad and the option to buy music in full resolution...

Meh, update is good but not that great as everyone thinks it is. Just bring back coverflow that **** was pretty, useless but nice. Also the scrolling speed is still crap.

Why is this not showing up on software update?

[Edit]

I checked for updates - not there. Went to the original download link - just 11.0.2. Did Apple pull the update?

I note on another forum that this update appears to break several apps that use iTunes as a front end and take over playback to enhance sound quality (e.g., BitPerfect, Audirvana, etc.) - wonder if that is a sign of a more pervasive problem?

I'm in the same boat.

App Updates

I no longer have the button to check for app updates. Does anyone else have this issue? If so does anyone know how to fix it?

It does the same for Robbie Williams songs which are all duets with 2 artist (second one each time different) giving me 5 albums instead of one.

Do you have his name in the Album Artist field? That usually seems to put them back into one album for me. If that doesn't help, you could try making the album a compilation (although for me that's a last resort).

Can anyone post how to get the second update of Viewing Album Artwork from the Songs view?

I know, why do they take things out, specially the good things, hopefully will add them in a future upgrade as "new"

Can anyone post how to get the second update of Viewing Album Artwork from the Songs view?

Menu bar / View / Show View Options

At the top are some options "Show Artwork", "Always Show" means even if an album has one song the album cover will show, you can also choose the size.

I really thought that the "new view" of album cover in songs was going to be like before.

I really miss the album cover in the Bottom Left corner on the sidebar..

Retrograde "improvements"

;) Maybe some day iTunes 11 will catch up to where version 10 already was.

BTW, for those having made the mistake of "upgrading" to 11, or otherwise having had it foisted on you, it is possible to revert back to 10. One must follow certain steps, but success can be had.

There are a few things with 10 I wish Apple would fix. Who knows, maybe in time version 12 will be what all earlier attempts might have been.

Album art

Has the possibility of viewing the album art full screen disappeared?
Clicking on the small album now only takes me to mini player but i cannot get a larger view as in the previous version???

iTunes 10.7 still rocks

I upgraded one of my computers to 11.0.2 for about two months while keeping my other Mac's and PC with 10.7 and I found iTunes 11 to be annoying beyond belief. I hated the following: double clicking the task bar did not minimize iTunes, the search feature was horrible, my albums were fragmented and...... no cover art or DJ option.......I stayed with 11.0.2 for as long as I could than downgraded to 10.7 using both AppCleaner and Pacifist using the information from this link......

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/03/how-to-downgrade-from-itunes-11-to-version-10-7-on-your-mac/

....... and couldn't be happier.:)

I also miss cover flow...

The latest iTunes updates have certainly made iTunes smaller and less obtrusive. That's nice for the MBP, but.... Those of us that have our libraries on Mac Minis, connected to an entertainment systems, would like some kind of full screen visualization that elegantly shows the album artwork, Artist, Song title, and Album title on the TV. The mini player is too small to see from across the room. It doesn't have to be cover flow per se, however something that doesn't look like a computer screen on your tv during a party would be nice. Perhaps the album view, optimized to full screen, or something similar to the Aplle TV view.

For that, you have to CMD-Click on the small album cover in the main window.

Apple Updates iTunes to Version 11.0.3 With New MiniPlayer and Improvements

If you select to have the sidebar visible itunes 11 looks almost completely like 10 so why would you bother?

The update has made iTunes much less CPU hungry here.

Nice! I forgot about that. I've been using Bowtie, nice little way of keeping a small window of whatever you're playing in iTunes on my second display desktop.

One small quip, I wish we could change the background color in iTunes while in album or movie art view.

I think 11.0.3 is now better than 10.7 in every respect, I prefer the look, the speed, everyone who has used up next when I had people round have said its great for parties, and the final cherry on the cake is the app remembers where you were browsing when going in and out of playlists instead of jumping back to the top which was driving me mad, and even though I don't use it the mini player seems to have been improved too. I'm 100% happy with it now.

Am I the only one that noticed the new App update screen? They removed the button on the bottom right and put it up next to the categories.

This completely baffled me until I saw your post. Not only did that change, but to actually update you have to click the button that still lives at the bottom right. Very confusing, going back and forth like that.

Oh my god, you are right! This was the most idiotically stupid bug and so bloody annoying.

As a software developer, there are bugs that are so rare they will only turn up for few customers. Then there are bugs that will turn up in proper testing. Then there are bugs that should be found if the developer just tries out their own code. The last kind of bug should never, ever happen in shipping code. And that bug fell in that last category.

Yeah, that's so obvious

Enormous thanks for that tip.
