Improved Songs View. You can now enjoy your album artwork while in Songs view

WOW, I am so happy to have this!!!!

Awesome, Apple is listening to our feedback!!

yes!!!!!!! thanks I request the album artowork in Songs View many times

JUST ONE THING:
why if I stay in songs view and make a search, go to ANOTHER VIEW!!! I want my search results in the view that Im in! in this case the Songs View

for me the best way to use itunes is this:
column browser in the top
songs view with artwork
and search results in the songs view!
https://jumpshare.com/v/KOAfNqB2mO35OKTuJYZS

also the artist name and album title and raiting in the RIGHT! it would be great if is possible remove, you know optional! see the screenshot show it without, the artist and album are in the columns so... is not necessary, but can be optional.

Big improvement, shouldn't have needed it though as they shouldn't have taken half the functionality away in the first place.

I now like itunes again, still room for improvement in the store though, better graphics and search engine wouldn't go a miss, they need to do away with black backgrounds.

Other small changes, in the main window where they have the track seeker, Apple seemed to have changed the font for the track title, artist and album. It's less bold? Or was it always like that? lol

Are the album names the same? I just corrected a few I had that were listed as "Album Title [disc 1]" "Album Title [Disc 2]"

I removed the disk 1 and 2 in the title and yes, it became one album (Bee Gees) THX!

I can't fix the Final, it keeps re-correcting the artist to George Michael for 2 numbers and the rest to Wham every time I try to change it (it seems to have a will of its own).

It does the same for Robbie Williams songs which are all duets with 2 artist (second one each time different) giving me 5 albums instead of one.

For films I till cannot resize the cover art as it used to be in the pass: stupidly large.

Is it just me or does the application-wide search field not take you to the playlist view anymore after you've clicked on a playlist in the search results? Instead, it activates the album view. If you then manually switch to the playlist view, the correct playlist is selected.

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding this, but I've always had it show as a single album...

Me too.

You just put "Disc 1 of x" in the info part. The album name was always the same.

EDIT:

Application updates are now in the Apps section and show the changes when you click on the icon.

My biggest issue with iTunes (seems its always been like this) is that the Store for me has always been blurry, like the font is wrong. It's not crisp and clear but rather dull looking and pixelated. I'm using windows so maybe that's why?

Is it like that on a Mac too?

Yes, this is aggravating, and has not been fixed.

I did figure out how to get back to what's playing quickly though:
at the top where the song is playing,
click on the arrow next to the song title,
then on Go To "song title"
it will scroll down to where ever in the song list that song is playing.

Problem is, I keep forgetting about that function.

Cmd + L.

Apple should fix it though. People around me get annoyed when they import a file and iTunes doesn't take you to that file/song. Same for iPhoto.

Finally we have album covers back in Songs view! Now I can seriously consider moving to iTunes 11.

Screenshots of the new MiniPlayer. I'm unsure what to make of it yet.

Also, the controls fade on the large view of the album artwork after a few seconds.

I like the picture. I would also give another thumbs up (if I could) for choosing that album to display. RAM is good! :D

Pulled?

I checked for updates - not there. Went to the original download link - just 11.0.2. Did Apple pull the update?

I note on another forum that this update appears to break several apps that use iTunes as a front end and take over playback to enhance sound quality (e.g., BitPerfect, Audirvana, etc.) - wonder if that is a sign of a more pervasive problem?

I have never ever used the mini player in the 6 years i've had a Mac.

Me neither in the 13 years I've been using iTunes. Maybe if I had three 30" screens I would find some place for it:D. But then I might just keep iTunes open because finding stuff is easier in the normal iTunes window.

----------

I'm glad to see we have that feature back.

I really hate albums view. What were they thinking by removing that simple yet elegant feature from songs view in the first place?

I guess it is a subtle hint that the sidebar is not their preferred UI anymore.

My biggest complaint with iTunes is when you switch from your library to the iTunes Store and then back, it loses your place in the library.

Example - I'm in songs view, and I've searched for "Blink 182" so it's only displaying my Blink 182 songs. Then I go to store and back again and the search is gone and I'm at the top of my massive list of songs again.

The reason this annoys me is I use the store a lot to make sure my track names and order are correct (super OCD about my music library).
Doesn't happen with me.

Did they make any improvements to the TV shows portion? The way they reorganized and messed that up in iTunes 11 was so bad that I had to downgrade to iTunes 10.7.

I stay in the songs view (search box is set to not searching the whole library and to only search music).

I hope this fixes the need to constantly check "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases". Small bug but annoying.

I don't believe it. I've just spent months sorting out my iTunes library after Apple messed it up again with the last update and they've only gone and done it again. Why can't they just leave my freaking changes alone instead of screwing everything up each time they upgrade now with iTunes 11. I didn't used have this problem with updates before version 11. Honestly I just despair with Apple these days I really do.

Anyway I doubt they will fix this but I'm curious to see when I get home from work.

Still happens to me, and its VERY ANNOYING!!! Especially with about 8,000 songs, and you are at the bottom end of the alphabet. But I'm sure most of you have more than that.

I don't like this...I just wish they'd put it in the bottom left corner.
