$150bn in the bank and they can't think of anything new to build? :(

They could at least throw us a bone with some new software products while we wait.

Of course they can think of it and are building things. But Apple doesn't announce until they are ready to do so. You have been around long enough that you should know this.

Yes I can appreciate that but they have been moving in the opposite direction of late. They removed all the non-Apple products from the tables in their retails stores and now all they have is the box on the side wall at the back. Also I can't remember seeing third party products so prominent on their online store before. Seems like a complete 180. Are they going to start selling toy remote controlled Porsche's now? Very curious

Since you are in the UK you may not have a frame of reference of the first years of the retail Apple Store. At least half of the store was dedicated to non-Apple products -- cameras, PDAs, non-Apple Mac software, and Mac peripherals and accessories. Eventually most of that came out as either current consumer demands or sales conflicts developed, but point is Apple isn't new to promoting non-Apple products, especially those of it's partners. Currently in U.S. store a tiny part of the back of the store has 3rd party items.

When I look at Apple's current front page on the store the only 3rd party products I see are ones that enhance Apple products. There are cases for for iPhones and other gadgets that are used with iPhones with exception of the the Tony Fadell Next thermostat. So I don't get your remote control Porsche comment, but hey, if that remote control Porsche was controlled by an iPhone, then why not show it if it can make Apple money?

Also we are at a point in Apple's product cycle where there isn't much new for people to buy. Apple has to sell something. Odds are Dad doesn't need an iPhone 5, but hey, a BT speaker or FuelBand would be a neat gift. Why should Apple cede that sale to Amazon just to maintain a meaningly purist look?

Looks a lot better. Closes the gap between main product pages and the store.

I still don't like that they give so much importance to cases though.

Nice, but within a category, those top-bars should scroll with the wheel/gestures. Or better yet, not NEED to scroll at all.

Apple really needs to look at Dell.com to see an efficient shopping experience. I am not serious.

I don't believe your facts are quite right :p

Apple has sold 3rd-party stuff for many years, and Apple's history of both small AND earthshaking releases has always been longer than people think. (And currently, WWDC is around the corner.)

The only difference is, when Jobs was alive they blamed him for the R&D periods in between releases (while competitors got a free pass). Whereas now, they blame it on Jobs' absence. In reality, innovation + quality (as opposed to just dumping out random stuff to see what sticks, or copying an existing success) simply takes time no matter who's in charge. Apple does it faster than anyone, but as they've said, they're as proud of what they decided not to release as what they've actually sold. Good philosophy.

It's been 6 months from the iPad Mini, which was merely copying the rest of the industry.

In that time Google has done more to "Refresh" iOS than Apple has done since 2007.

WWDC. Product Numbers, Revenue Numbers, Game Demos, Social is going to be into the core OS, iRadio "It's the most intuitive music streaming software and we're last to get into the market, besides BlackBerry",
Oh and we have the cool fingerprint reader.

"One Last Thing". We're putting out a spec bump to Mac Pro so we can sell it again in Europe.

OK, that's a wrap. See you next year and thanks again for the billions of dollars you keep throwing at us. It's safe in Ireland.

Ha so true. I always find it funny when people say things like apple has stopped innovating. Like Tim cook held a meeting and said "well guys...we had a good run"

How could anyone really believe that apple does not have products in the pipeline or that they have no ideas left?

For those who believe all the innovation was inside Steve's brain I guess I'm not surprised they would think this. Last year we had leaks galore and people complained because there were no surprises. I'm glad we have fewer leaks this year (so far). I'm actually looking forward to WWDC. Though I expect Apple will leak something in the next two weeks just to create some buzz/wet people's appetites.

Seems a bit cluttered and confused which is not like Apple.

Also non-Apple products on the front page like gifts for fathers day? That is very unlike Apple in my experience. They are usually tucked away somewhere.

I wouldn't say cluttered, but it's difficult to recognize important text with all those images. It looks good, but I didn't even notice the text "Father's Day Gifts" at first. The separation between those white boxes isn't easy to see.

gosh, I finally left AI so that I wouldn't hear those fanboys again and here they are all... I've always thought the wind was nicer here.

Yet another example of Apple's continuing effort at dumbing down everything.
You must conform and use things only how Apple tells you.

You want to 'think different' ? Sure you can, as long as it is exactly how Apple tells you how.

Doesn't fit your workflow or skill level? Sorry no options for that anymore but they put in a bunch of cool icons .

Want that feature or option that you have relied on for years on your system? Nope that is obsolete now and they will never bring it back.

You want to chose which way to use a product? Now you have no choice because according to Apple, you are not smart enough to make your own decisions.

Want to customize the setup your way? Nope Apple knows better how YOU should be working.

Or you could just choose to use another product, as is the case with almost every other consumer product. I can't stand comments like these. Apples not telling you to do anything. They're designing a product, with the hopes that most people will like it, and therefore purchase or use it. If you don't like what Apple has, then you simply look at another product.

Thats how it works in the consumer market. No one is taking control from you. Its called making a product. Quit with the self-entitlement where the world revolves around you and if a multibillion dollar company does something you personally don't like, that its some kind of spiteful gesture towards you personally. Jesus.

I did. I still have many Apple products and hope they pull their head out and put out something worth buying.

I'm not a vendor fan, I'm a fan of tech and Apple lost that for me after the 3G.

It is the reason I read Apple forums.

It's been 6 months from the iPad Mini, which was merely copying the rest of the industry.

Just like everyone copied apple by making tablets.

In that time Google has done more to "Refresh" iOS than Apple has done since 2007.

Well...yeah. google wants money and they sure as hell aren't going to make it on android.

Yeah it annoys me to no end that the iPhone doesn't let me answer my phone without touching it when I'm eating bbq chicken! Samsung thought of every use case imaginable.

I just hope the 5S let's me paste myself in a box on top of pictures I take, or scroll by tilting my phone. Gimmi...er Innovations like that should not be ignored.

No, you're not Jesus.

Quote from Steve Jobs

That's when they lost me.

I don't think they lost you completely since you're still here hoping they try to win you back.

So then get lost? Lol, if they "lost" you, I'm somewhat confused as to why you're on an Apple rumor site commenting on an article about a simple online store redesign. Seems petty.

Go ahead and start your own company and design products for yourself and hundreds of millions of other people too. Easy, right? You seem to have all the answers.

Under the Shop Mac section they have Talk to Specialist and the link is broken.

Another half baked buggy roll out. Maybe they should get the Geniuses to fix it or Integrate their store with Yahoo and Flickr or Vimeo and let them do all the work.

Seems like the latest strategy these days. Oh, make it flat. Jony said so.

I don't think the link is broken as there is no link, it says you call to get answers.

I like it overall. Graphics register more quickly and are generally easier to navigate than text links. Although, I think most of us are used to text links, so this might take some adjustment at first.

Dont you notice the change?

Its more like Windows 8 Interface. Apple is ceasing to put everything inside a rounded corners square, and now its attaching the tiles together.

If you are not convinced yet, look at the iPod site:
http://www.apple.com/ipod/
It still have a lot of blocks with rounded corners separated with some space between them. Also the background is darker and the shadows are more visible (in the Online Store, the blocks shadow appear just at the right side and is less stronger and expanded than in other parts of the website).

I dont think Apple is gonna strictly follow Windows 8 interface. But it's trying to look less 2007-2011. Its becoming more simpler, maybe following Google new mobile interface guidelines.

PD: sorry about my bad english.

True. I never thought I'd see the day when Apple is playing catchup on UI design.

:apple:

The Mac Pro has disappeared :(

Well, at least Apple is finally sincere about its lack of support for the MacPro. It's better to hide an outdated system than to promote it in the online store.

My guess is the new MacPro will look like a bigger Mac mini , maybe also stackable and Thunderboldt-connected. Not giving up hopes yet...Tim Cook promsied an updated MacPro "later in 2013", I hope it's not Dec 30, 2013 :)
