You know what's funny, the Play Store and the Apple Store are different things. You would have to compare the Play Store to the App Store.

And what's funny is that plenty of comments so far don't like the new Apple Online Store...

But of course iPhone boys/girls will take any opportunity they can to grind their axe and show how little they really know about life outside the walled prison - I mean garden!

As if people outside Apple's "prison" aren't doing the same axe grinding. Check out the comments section of just about any tech site and 95-99% of them have an anti-Apple bias.

What would be even nicer is if they updated the store with cool new products :)

That store front makes it look as if the Apple TV doesn't even exist. Granted, it does show up as an add-on when you click on iPod, but it's a bit odd.

It's also not clear on how to move back within the site itself. No hierarchy.

I would call it a very bad design.

EDIT: I realized that the confusing part is that the main navigation bar (Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod) is not persistent and it looks like it would be with its button-like appearance. Once you click on one of those, the next bar where you choose between products is persistent. They should leave the main navigation bar on each page, and that bar should include a home icon on the far left and probably and an "other" section that has a hover menu.

Pseudo-designer handbags, a digital cooking thermometer, scam "audiophile" equipment... It's all Sharper Image junk!

One day, Steve will return to throw these merchants out of his Father's temple.

I am surprised at this. From an accessibility point of view for web design this is a step backwards. If you are in 'Shop iPad' there is no longer any easy way to 'Shop Mac' apart from the small text link at the bottom. Clearly they assume that you are simply not going to want to do that. The tendency is then to click on the Mac link in the header menu which takes you out of the store.

More clicks, less user friendly. I'm not sure it's such a great move.

I don't like it at all.

Before: I know what I want and I order it
Now: I know what I want and I have to try to find it. Is the new app enhanced accessory under "shop iPad"? "Shop iPhone"? Or is there another category? Where are cables/earphones/speakers?

Those big pictures take valuable space. I had the pleasure to order something using an iPad and this new store layout. It took me significantly longer and made me feel angry.
