Really lame. I used those sidebar text links just about every time I visited the store. This is a case of Apple designers once again choosing form over function, just like the iOS App Store.

True. I never thought I'd see the day when Apple is playing catchup on UI design.

:apple:

Playing catch-up on design means little if anything. There's no level of design where you could place tech companies.
I'm sure that Apple doesn't care about the design of Google.
That 'big tiles, big pictures' has been a UI trend for the past years and Google certainly didn't invent it, other websites did it first.

About current mobile UIs, I think there is still a lot to do to make them better. Widgets are good, but even a screen from an Android phone with widgets looks inconsistent and incomplete. If I was a designer at Apple I'd propose a springboard with widgets that dynamically fill the space so that the springboard is devoid of empty space. I'd also allow for a single page of widgets.

BTW

The app 'Catch' featured on the main page (apple.com) when displaying the iPhone 5 is, I think, a good example of what iOS7 will look like. Simple, flatter, beautiful.

Yet another example of Apple's continuing effort at dumbing down everything.
You must conform and use things only how Apple tells you.

You want to 'think different' ? Sure you can, as long as it is exactly how Apple tells you how.

Doesn't fit your workflow or skill level? Sorry no options for that anymore but they put in a bunch of cool icons .

Want that feature or option that you have relied on for years on your system? Nope that is obsolete now and they will never bring it back.

You want to chose which way to use a product? Now you have no choice because according to Apple, you are not smart enough to make your own decisions.

Want to customize the setup your way? Nope Apple knows better how YOU should be working.

Ahahah these comments makes my day. We're talking about an update webpage. Sure you are smart so you whine like a children... about a webpage. brilliant. This website should be renamed to Whine Rumors.

Looks like you should go into the PC World, since Apple can't do anything right for you. Goodbye:)

Of course they can think of it and are building things. But Apple doesn't announce until they are ready to do so. You have been around long enough that you should know this.

True but you can't blame people for getting a little frustrated while we wait. I've spent exactly £0 on Apple products so far this year.

Lately Apple has little product development, but endless marketing. oh well,we need much more product development anyways...there is not much to gain with greater IPS (Instructions per second). We have plateaued with being able call people, or send them a picture. A watch? no thanks. From here on out it we will lose more privacy, for only slight convenience improvements.
and we definitely don't need more marketing.

Thanks for any advice on how I delete my profile here, i tried but don't see how?

Under the Shop Mac section they have Talk to Specialist and the link is broken.

Another half baked buggy roll out. Maybe they should get the Geniuses to fix it or Integrate their store with Yahoo and Flickr or Vimeo and let them do all the work.

Seems like the latest strategy these days. Oh, make it flat. Jony said so.

Do you make this little sense in real life? Lol, your comments are an angry hodge podge of three or four different semi-formed ideas, each ranting off in a different direction. Calm down, take deep breaths, read before clicking post reply!
Anyways, I think in your barely coherent snide babbling you were:
A) Insulting the fact that Apple has 'Geniuses' to fix hardware/software issues in store. You don't state what it is that bothers you about them, so unless you find the title a bit pretentious, or one of them kicked your puppy.. I don't see where you were going with this one
B) Insulting Apple's added support of third party photo sharing sites. Here you go straight off the rails with the "and let them do all the work" comment. Wtf could this possibly even mean?? (beyond the fact that you are a rambling idiot) What "work" of Apple's was done by Flickr/Vimeo because they MAY soon become additional "save to" options in photos? Does this somehow lower their manufacturing costs? Save on new product R&D? Help build new stores? Oh.. It doesn't? Really? So, actually NONE of Apple's "work" was done by Flickr/Vimeo and that was just a sadly ineffectual troll by you? Oh, ok..
C) Lastly.. from this sentence I think you are trying to tie together your two conspiracy theories & say that Apple's new strategy is to have Geniuses do their work in the stores & 3rd party companies do the rest of the work. Then there is an unrelated dig at Jony Ive and the rumored flat design of iOS 7. Wow... it is a workout deciphering your comments! I hope that I have done them justice. Sadly, you said nothing factual.. which is typically ok- as long as you provide some reasoning or clarification of your opinion. You didn't even do that. See, saying something like "I wish Ive was working only on hardware.. I don't care whether iOS is flat" contains no facts, yet retains some value because it is a complete thought, containing an opinion. Saying "make it flat. Jony said so" however has NO value as it is not a complete thought, nor does it contain an opinion.

Anyways, I hope these tips help on your future trolling endeavors.. have a nice day.

I use Amazon a lot and it is nice to have multiple options to pay. I.E. Work Credit Card and Personal Credit Card. I need that same option with Apple. Now that they are offering Pay Pal it would be nice to be able to select which to use at check out. Also, if you have an iTunes Gift Card you should be able to say to use it or not to use it.

At this time I have to change the Credit Card when I need to buy something for work (like a Mac App or iOS App) then change it back when I need to buy personal stuff like a song. Just a convenience issue.

Day 1- Daughter has new iPhone engraved with very special poem for fathers day.

Day 2 - Father takes phone to Apple store to be replaced due to various issues

Day 3 - Apple employee looks at iphone carcass with special poem as he tosses it into a bin with 500+ other defective iphones, worker pauses and then ponders his own existence and whether his vasectomy at 18 was such a good idea.

Cycle repeats.

make sense for touch screen users.
because apple, as of now doesn't believe in responsive web design.

so bigger area with pictures is good for touch screens.

Damn the iPhone looks sexy in this photo.

Just curious how you know what product development Apple is working on.

This really sucks. I relied on that sidebar to find pretty much anything that I was looking for. The pictures and graphics makes it incredibly difficult to find anything, and if I was looking for a power cable or adaptor, that was much easier to find by navigating with the text menus. Quite a step backwards, of course, as is the way with iOS as well.

The pages work better, too.

Go to the product pages by clicking along the top. The pages load beautifully, like a TV ad.

Flat design sucks

Ive is in the process of destroying the Apple experience. He is a good hardware designer, but he just follows the herd when it comes to GUI design. Just look at the ugly iTunes 11 and now the flattening of the Store. It simply shows less attention to detail. Under the old design, the eye was "entertained" by all the small shadows. Now it's simply a bland and boring page with a lot of pictures.

Looks gorgeous and makes the Google Play Store look like a fisher-price toy.

You know what's funny, the Play Store and the Apple Store are different things. You would have to compare the Play Store to the App Store.

And what's funny is that plenty of comments so far don't like the new Apple Online Store...

But of course iPhone boys/girls will take any opportunity they can to grind their axe and show how little they really know about life outside the walled prison - I mean garden!
