Well... I expected a bit more...

The processor upgrade is great, and was expected. Backlight keyboard, ok, that;s handy. And... um... that's about it I guess. Still only 2gb of ram for the base model... a bit of a storage bump would have been nice too...

Oh well. An upgrade, but a minor one. Still good to have though.

At the retail store, what options will they provide for the 11" model?

I want the 4GB Ram, 64GB HDD, is this possible?

Nice update if you require more computing power. Screen is still crap but that is becayse they want you to buy new Cinema Displays.

My wife was going to get one of these then I checked and saw the MBP is cheaper (and better specs). Why should she buy one of these? I'm confused.

Anything to excuse Apple ? Who do you think you're talking to ? They call me a Anti-Apple hater here. So no, I'm not making up excuses.

If the price difference is very hard to ignore, then you are not the target audience for the MacBook Air. For me, the choice was simple back in 2010. I wanted light and thin because I carry this thing around on my back with tons of other stuff.

The MBA was the cheapest option then in that form factor.

Are you going to be whining on every single thread now?

Hard choice over 11" ultimate or 13" ultimate - small price ddifference

The price difference between the 11" and the 13" ultimate versions is now really small (here in Australia just $82 difference before tax) which makes the choice really hard. The 11" is now so compelling because it has the same CPU and RAM as the 13", the only difference is the screen size and the lack of SD card reader it seems. The 256GB SSD solves the lack of SD card reader for me but because the 13" is only a little bit more it's tough to give up that extra screen real estate.

I will be using mine to code using XCode and Unity3D so the screen real estate could be important (at least when on the move).

What to you guys think about the 11" Ultimate Vs 13" Ultimate?

Did anyone notice the awesome feature known as Optical Drive Sharing?!?! no need for that superdrive addition!!!

That was introduced with the first macbook Air in 2008 LOL

I will definitely be buying an 11.6" ultimate for my GF... I wonder if they will be available in the Apple retail stores with 1.8ghz and 256gb SSD.

The weight and size really. You want a light netbook you can lug around without feeling the strain, MBA is your laptop of choice.

Pro is more for say, you are in an office most of the time, and only need to move it for short distances (like from your house to your car etc).

Processor typo?

From my order confirmation web page:
"1.8GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7"

From my order confirmation email:
"Processor 065-0599 1.8GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5"

(I'm assuming the "i5" in the email is a typo?)

Uh ? Where was I whining ? I was pointing out that the MBA's size and weight are both specs not to be ignored...

Geez, at least read my posts or put me on ignore if you don't like them.

I get called a whiner when I post negative Apple stuff, I get called a whiner when I post positive Apple stuff... There's just no pleasing any of you guys.

WOWWW SYSTEM OVERLOAD!!!! hahah

love all this new stuff! THANKS APPLE!!

(probably won't get anything tho, still happy with what I got

If I were to get the base 13" Air, would that be good for programming in C#, C++? How about light gaming, like Fallout 3 or L4D?

I think it should, just want to double check with the nerds here.

$300 more just for an extra 128gb flash? Wow, they're really milking people who need more than 128gb.
