Damn. I just got one a few months ago. I knew of the impending refresh on the horizon, so I am not upset about the minor spec bump...but the $100, that could've helped out.

It's a bit more than $100 less in the UK store, the base models have been reduced by £100 and the better specced models by £130.

I guess the extra reduction could be due to a currency adjustment?

Relatively speaking it's almost the same discount, but don't forget the price is still a lot more expensive than the US (i.e. GBP749 = USD1,258!!!)

Can anyone confirm if this refresh as well as the price change has taken place with in the Canadian site add well?

Finally a mac under $1,000! Might gift this for the girlfriend :D I'll stick to my MBPr. Maybe it's just me, but I hate the grey around the screen; I much prefer the black like the MBP. It gives it a different sort of contrast!

the most prolific period of innovation at Apple

You know, that’s about enough of this nonsense. May I remind you that it was SIX years between the iPod and the iPhone. It was THREE years between the iPhone and the iPad. It’s now FOUR years since the iPad and all this “Steve is dead, no more innovation” FUD is getting annoying. Try something constructive next post will you.

The 'new' MBA replacement will be Broadwell based and these chips will not be shipping in any serious volume until Q1 2015. So I would estimate that the MBA replacement will be due Q2 2015.

Your suggested time frame is almost one year away which does not make sense with the current rumors. I would not dismiss the possibility of an ARM processor.

No price drop in Canada.

Which is complete and utter ********.

I love how when our exchange rate is higher than that of the US, even for years, we get on par prices. Our dollar drops and right away they are tacking on the difference; and this goes for almost any company.

Oh man, you're right... and it's not a trivial difference either! $100... :/

Not true. For the last few months Canadian prices were lower than the equivalent US model when both are compared in USD. Now all they have done is adjusted accordingly now that the exchange rate has stabilized.

You shouldn't expect to get treatment any better than what apple has done for all international pricing. Feel free to spend gas, drive across the border spend $999 on an MBA (about $1097 CAN) and drive back. I see the prices as very fair.

Hasn't anyone noticed that there is now a PCIe-based Flash instead of SATA -- THAT IS HUGE !!!

I noticed. Yeh for me!! And yes, I am looking forward to my new i7 Air with that drive speed. Will be plenty for portable uses.

(And Yes, as someone else said too... add RAM now. The future is uncertain!)

So if the other story about raising iPhone prices was true that would mean only $100 difference between a 16gb iPhone and a 128gb Air.
That just doesn't seem right.
Anybody think the other story got it backwards and the iPhone will also be lowered in price by $100?
:D

ARM processors are not up to the task of replacing Intel's CPU's yet. The replacement for the Air will be using Intels Broadwell-Y 14 nm CPU's (3.5/4.5w TDP) in order for the MacBook Air replacement to be fanless.

Broadwell-H CPU's will be used in the iMac, Broadwell-U for the 13" MacBook Retina Pro & Broadwell-M for the MacBook Retina Pro 15".

Apple could launch in late Q4 but supply will be extremely limited.

For the MBA's yes, other products were adjusted a while back.

My point is that when our dollar, was above parity - off and on for years, we were still paying the same.

Doesn't matter, Futureshop and BestBuy have been having the $100 off MBA's since they were released last year, which makes all of this moot.

Would have been nice to have $200 off the base at futureshop though ;)

Let's talk about car price differences between the US and Canada, then you can talk 'fair'

Apple have dropped the price of a fair few products recently, some all the way down to free. Let's hope they continue this trend, I like it :D

All free would be best and make it up in volume!

JK : I do agree that they are making space for a price point for that 12inch.

Which one? I did not pay attention to Mac, but iPad Air and iPad mini with retina display price is higher than US. iPad 4 price is same as US. Never lower than US.

Other than the price cut, longer battery life and bumped up processors are there any other tangible difference?

AFAIK the prices quoted on the website in UK are inclusive of taxes whereas, on the US website the prices are without taxes and the taxes are added when you check out...
