OH YES, it's different isn't it. You found another change!what is the key under the F13 key? my Touch ID with number pad has the globe/fn key under F13
There are several options that are cheaper from other manufactures. Is a stupid keyboard still $200? The price of some laptops? Still can't use the mouse while charging? Innovation now is painting your device different colors? Been wanting to buy an iMac since 2018 but haven't because of the lack of innovation and the removal of their 27" iMac.
Keep penny pinching on your products, and so will I Apple.
I think it’s funny people still think this wouldn't have happened without the EU. And now that is a legally forced standard, there will never be any other port created.Thank-U, E-U
Wrong. I have the keyboard, and there is no warning when the battery gets low. So suddenly the keyboard just stops working, and you realize you have to charge it. Fortunately you can charge the keyboard while using it, NOT SO with the mouse. You won't be able to work if you forget to charge it. 😵🔫The people who complain the most about this charging port are the ones who would never buy it anyway. I understand the complaints about sharp edges or low precision of the MM, but charging once every few weeks, which requires turning the mouse upside down for a few hours, is NOT a problem.
So you're saying I'm "wrong" about the MM and then you proceed to to describe your experience with a keyboard instead? Lol. I will repeat once again what I wrote in this thread: charging upside down is the last of the problems of MM. Poor ergonomics and precision are real dealbreakers.Wrong. why is it that Apple still WILL NOT produce the mMagic Keyboard (without keypad) in Black? Just stupid!
Alongside the new iMac, Apple announced updated versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad. The accessories are now equipped with USB-C charging ports, whereas the previous models used Lightning. Apple includes the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard in the box with the iMac, and the Magic Trackpad is an optional upgrade.

"Every iMac comes with a color-matched Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or optional Magic Trackpad, all of which now feature a USB-C port, so users can charge their favorite devices with a single cable," said Apple, in a press release.
There does not appear to be any other changes to the Magic accessories beyond the switch to USB-C. Yes, that means the Magic Mouse's charging port remains located on the bottom of the mouse, as confirmed in Apple's video for the new iMac.
Some of the Magic accessories with USB-C ports are also sold separately:
Apple also continues to sell the older Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad with a Lightning charging port, but it lacks a Touch ID button. All other Lightning-based Magic accessories appear to have been discontinued today.

- Magic Keyboard
- Magic Keyboard with Touch ID

The updated accessories can be ordered today.

Wait really?! Their extended version is too ***** wide, I feel like I have to reach across my desk to grab my mouse.
Did you read what I wrote? You can't use the mouse while it's charging, which you can with the keyboard. So it's a HUGE problem with the mouse. So you're saying I'm "wrong" about the MM and then you proceed to to describe your experience with a keyboard instead? Lol. What kind of Mac and keyboard are you using?I always get a warning when my keyboard or trackpad is low on battery.
AFAIK the port is only for charging, all communication goes via Bluetooth. So they're "wireless" whether they're plugged in or not.I’ve been waiting for ages to pull the trigger on a trackpad and keyboard for use with my desk setup.
I have a work windows machine, an iPad and plan to get the new mini.
If I were to plug both keyboard and trackpad into my USB C dock, will it automatically switch between devices as they’re plugged in? I’m happy to forego wireless if so, apples not going to add multi user support to them
That doesn’t bother me, I just want them to automatically pair, if you get meAFAIK the port is only for charging, all communication goes via Bluetooth. So they're "wireless" whether they're plugged in or not.
Yes, I read what you wrote - you are describing your experience with the keyboard, not the mouse.Did you read what I wrote? You can't use the mouse while it's charging, which you can with the keyboard. So it's a HUGE problem with the mouse.
I'm describing why the keyboard works, and the mouse doesn't.Yes, I read what you wrote - you are describing your experience with the keyboard, not the mouse.
No, it is not a "huge problem". A minor inconvenience at best once every couple of weeks for maybe 10 minutes, that's all (if it unexpectedly goes dead, you charge it for a few minutes which will give you a few hours of battery, and then leave it overnight to fully charge).
What you're writing here is comical. You say that you don't have 10 minutes once every few weeks? Does your "critical operations issues" job mean using the mouse 24/7 for a month without the slightest break?I'm describing why the keyboard works, and the mouse doesn't.
I don't know where/how you work, but I don't get paid to sit around and wait for a charging mouse. And if/when there are critical operations issues(I work for a public broadcaster) it would be a disaster if I couldn't use my computer(I do have a backup computer though so I suppose I should have a backup mouse 😂).
