what is the key under the F13 key? my Touch ID with number pad has the globe/fn key under F13
OH YES, it's different isn't it. You found another change!

it doesn't look like the apple intelligence logo; more like just a menu or something? no idea.

whatever it is, it's probably for the best that fn+globe has moved to the bottom left, where it is on literally every other keyboard they make. doesn't look like the spacebar has been shrunk for it, only the left-side ctrl/opt/cmd keys.

As someone who thinks the port on the Magic Mouse is absolutely where it needs to be, I laugh in the face of the millions who disagree with me. 🤣

The position of the charging port doesn't really bother me, it's just an odd location that should have been changed already, what really bothers me is that they haven't added inductive charging to the mouse yet.

Is a stupid keyboard still $200? The price of some laptops? Still can't use the mouse while charging? Innovation now is painting your device different colors? Been wanting to buy an iMac since 2018 but haven't because of the lack of innovation and the removal of their 27" iMac.

Keep penny pinching on your products, and so will I Apple.
There are several options that are cheaper from other manufactures.

The people who complain the most about this charging port are the ones who would never buy it anyway. I understand the complaints about sharp edges or low precision of the MM, but charging once every few weeks, which requires turning the mouse upside down for a few hours, is NOT a problem.
Wrong. I have the keyboard, and there is no warning when the battery gets low. So suddenly the keyboard just stops working, and you realize you have to charge it. Fortunately you can charge the keyboard while using it, NOT SO with the mouse. You won't be able to work if you forget to charge it. 😵🔫

So you're saying I'm "wrong" about the MM and then you proceed to to describe your experience with a keyboard instead? Lol. I will repeat once again what I wrote in this thread: charging upside down is the last of the problems of MM. Poor ergonomics and precision are real dealbreakers.

Alongside the new iMac, Apple announced updated versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad. The accessories are now equipped with USB-C charging ports, whereas the previous models used Lightning. Apple includes the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard in the box with the iMac, and the Magic Trackpad is an optional upgrade.

"Every iMac comes with a color-matched Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or optional Magic Trackpad, all of which now feature a USB-C port, so users can charge their favorite devices with a single cable," said Apple, in a press release.

There does not appear to be any other changes to the Magic accessories beyond the switch to USB-C. Yes, that means the Magic Mouse's charging port remains located on the bottom of the mouse, as confirmed in Apple's video for the new iMac.

Some of the Magic accessories with USB-C ports are also sold separately:
Apple also continues to sell the older Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad with a Lightning charging port, but it lacks a Touch ID button. All other Lightning-based Magic accessories appear to have been discontinued today.

The updated accessories can be ordered today.

why is it that Apple still WILL NOT produce the mMagic Keyboard (without keypad) in Black? Just stupid!

the keyboard without numpad but with touchID doesn't have a black version. Curious omission.

Do these keyboards have a backlight?

Called it.

Amazing that people expected more. The hardware revision on the iPhone, a product that is two thirds of their revenue, is minute. They were never putting any effort into this low volume low price line up.

Still no black keyboard unless you buy the overpriced numberpad model, no backlighting, no multi device support.

A very ‘Tim Cook’ update.

I always get a warning when my keyboard or trackpad is low on battery.

Wait really?! Their extended version is too ***** wide, I feel like I have to reach across my desk to grab my mouse.

I really wish they'd make a Magic Keyboard TKL

Lots of folks want full size arrow keys located "where they should be", but have zero use for NumPads, nor do they want all that width (long reach over to a mouse/trackpad for a right handed person)

I’ve been waiting for ages to pull the trigger on a trackpad and keyboard for use with my desk setup.

I have a work windows machine, an iPad and plan to get the new mini.

If I were to plug both keyboard and trackpad into my USB C dock, will it automatically switch between devices as they’re plugged in? I’m happy to forego wireless if so, apples not going to add multi user support to them

Did you read what I wrote? You can't use the mouse while it's charging, which you can with the keyboard. So it's a HUGE problem with the mouse.

What kind of Mac and keyboard are you using?
Im using a MBP M1 Max and the keyboard without numberpad but with fingerprint reader, and I DO NOT get any warning.

AFAIK the port is only for charging, all communication goes via Bluetooth. So they're "wireless" whether they're plugged in or not.

Yes, I read what you wrote - you are describing your experience with the keyboard, not the mouse.

No, it is not a "huge problem". A minor inconvenience at best once every couple of weeks for maybe 10 minutes, that's all (if it unexpectedly goes dead, you charge it for a few minutes which will give you a few hours of battery, and then leave it overnight to fully charge). It was a bit bigger inconvenience with the lighting port, where it could happen that you don't have a cable at hand, but now with USB-C, it's practically zero problem.

I'm describing why the keyboard works, and the mouse doesn't.
I don't know where/how you work, but I don't get paid to sit around and wait for a charging mouse. And if/when there are critical operations issues(I work for a public broadcaster) it would be a disaster if I couldn't use my computer(I do have a backup computer though so I suppose I should have a backup mouse 😂).

What you're writing here is comical. You say that you don't have 10 minutes once every few weeks? Does your "critical operations issues" job mean using the mouse 24/7 for a month without the slightest break?

Once again, you're writing about this mouse without ever using it, but I had it. Charging it is its least problem, trust me.
