Airplay it self makes this OS update exciting ^^

I'm excited for it, and I don't even own an Apple TV (or a TV that's "new" enough to support an Apple TV) :D

I'd actually be more tempted to consider non-Apple products if their users didn't give Apple so much attention like they had an inferiority complex.

THIS ^
I've had many "debates" over the past few years with die-hard "PC" users where they try for hours to convince me that their Dell laptop running Windows 7 is better than my MBP... It's annoying! I really don't care what hardware/software they use, so I don't see any reason other than an inferiority complex for them to care about what I use...

I even had one guy try to convince me that his laptop "looked nicer" than my MBP because his laptop "looks like a fighter jet" :') (it was actual just made out of black plastic and looked ugly as hell...)

Decent update imho. I noticed that Omnifocus does not crash anymore when you try to add an attachment to an action and that Finder retains font size in smart folders (io setting them back to size 12 each time I did Command+N)

Four pages of trolling and BS in and someone actually says something about the update. The forum here is not what it was...

Personally I'm waiting to update until someone else using chameleon on a Mac Pro 1,1/2,1 tests it.

Anyone else not seeing this update?

I have build 12A193i

Edit: never mind, finally showed up

Ok so after 60 responses with a bunch of "I'm underwhelmed"

The only suggestion I read was a new filesystem (which I agree on)

Basically what I've found to be the norm at Macrumors is a persistent whining about computing not because stuff doesn't work but because not enough blinking lights have been added or whooshing sounds.

Some of you are computing as a form of entertainment and that's ok. Some of you have work to do and want to know about the tangible impact of new features.

Different needs that often yield far differing perspectives. Mountain Lion is substantial...it just may not be hitting your "fun button" but with all OS updates a lot of work has been done to improve our favorite OS.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I am not looking for woosh and swish; I am looking for stability and speed. I would also like to see improvements in the file system, which are long overdue. For example, looking at benchmarks the same SSDs are faster under NTFS than HFS, which makes me a sad panda.

Anyone using ML? What's it like compared to Lion? A little 'snapper'? I find Lion a little slower than SL.

I just upgraded my Mac Mini to ML and it works beautifully so far. Yes, it is also faster and smoother. Big improvement, even if the features aren't revolutionary. I see ML as a better Lion. It works much smoother.

I couldn't care less who is using what and how. I use what i like, at the moment it's Apple devices mostly. If i find something better i'll use that.

How exactly does AirPlay work in ML? I use AirParrot just now in Lion which works really well but just wondering how Apple's version will compare...

My pet bug rdar://5578103 is still unfixed. The Finder zoom slider bug has been closed in rdar and I can't reproduce it anymore, but the same is true for 10.7.4. Has anyone found an exciting change yet?

It's amazing how myopic the press, analysts, bloggers, and consumers are. (…) But really, Apple's devices are just access points to the Apple ecosystem and infrastructure. Just windows into the bigger picture.

Maybe that's because iCloud is absolutely boring. It does much less for me than MobileMe, and even MobileMe never wowed anyone.

Looking good Apple! Graphics glitches are gone in this newest version. System crashes seem to have disappeared. Vimeo and Flickr logins are finally working via System Preferences. Mountain Lion continues to feel faster and more responsive than Lion, all while using much less RAM as well.

Very happy so far :D

This will be what, the third Mountain Lion preview?

Fifth so far.

Much more responsive, Lion IS much slower and ML is a big step back in the right direction. Personally (assuming the rest of development goes well and they squash the major bugs) I'd say the speed boost alone is enough to recommend an upgrade for Lion users.

Dont know if this is new or not, but there now is a "socialpushagent" in the notification center preferences. Whats that?

I am using MT Lion

I am using MT Lion. Our school district is one of few districts that are being allowed to help the development team. So far I like MT Lion a lot better then Lion. It defiantly has less crashes, even with a few little bugs we've found.

Apple asks us every week if the bugs are resolved and if we think the OS is deployable.

Today will be the first day we tell Apple it's deployable. :)

I don't have any crashes with Lion either...so WHAT'S NEW in ML apart from minor iOS features?

I think it's also worth noting that we're at Safari 5.2 (and it's *very* nice, imo)

Actually, technically it's DP3.2. It is still DP3 with two "minor" updates. Apple is intending on four DP's followed by the GM as with 10.7 Lion. Since Apple restructured their OS X ADC, membership went from $100's of dollars depending with dozens of beta's that required dmg's being burned and fresh installs with each release. Lion changed all that, with four developer previews (aka beta's), an iOS $99/membership fee, and more access to entice consumers to join with a lower price point in hopes of increased debugging and perhaps more interest in developing.

Really? Vimeo and Flickr are still broken for me with "an unknown error occurred."
