The reason Apple need to get these orders out quick is because they know that in three months, people will just instead of buying this, be waiting to spend their money on the next one.

Right. Because there's no difference between three months and a week.

Product gets put on hold when ordered. Then when Apple goes to actually charge the card, it get declined for various reasons. Apple then gives you an opportunity to use a different card or payment. When that fails, they move others up the line. Many people pre-order with the hopes they can come up with the money and then can not.

Also fraudulent transactions, freight forwarders shipping addresses, etc... there are many reasons for Apple to cancel an order.

Apple store still not opening for me at 3:10 ET so switched to Verizon and have three phones with “estimated delivery 11/15” but the message to check back for delivery information. Anyone order from Verizon with no clear delivery date? Hoping it updates to the 3rd.

So Ming-Chi Kuo was basically bullsh*ting when he said there would only be a few million units for launch day. The supply is even more than last year's Jet Black iPhone 7.

Add me to the disgruntled list. I ordered at 12:03am and was told that because Apple couldn't communicate with Verizon about my account, I would sent a reservation number. I did receive that email and have been on hold all day with Apple. After hours and hours of listening to the same music over and over again a very nice lady answered and said that she could not help me, because in her words, "you're experiencing a problem with our website and I'll have to connect you to their line." I explained that it was a reservation order problem, not a website problem. She simply said that she could not do anything for me. She said she had no way to check on my reservation number.

I tried logging in using the link in the reservation email be every time it stopped at the "we have to confirm with Verizon your upgrade eligibility..." Needless to say, I am not able to complete my purchase within the 24 hour window.

Here's what I don't understand: I am a month to month Verizon customer and not on a contract. I paid off my iPhone 6 plus over a year ago and owe Verizon nothing. Why would Apple need to communicate with Verizon about anything? Can't I just buy a phone? Why does Verizon have to approve my purchase? I selected the "Pay full price in one payment" option in my order.

Mine is Nov 13-20. Guess I was just a tiny bit too late to get the 10-17 estimate.

I called EE about 2 hours after the preorders went live, they told me I was one of the first people to call, they have many in stock and haven't had much interest over the phone at least. I got right through as well, I called and instant divert...

I would not be surprised if Apple are created false demand to get the hype going, we'll see when the sales figures come out.

EE is your carrier. They have ZERO iPhone X's in stock. And they have NO CLUE how many they will have available for launch day. So whomever you talked to is misinformed...Or just doesn't have a clue. The demand for the iPhone X is huge. There is absolutely no reason at all for Apple to intentionally create a false demand. Apple never said anything about how many units would be available for Nov 3 delivery. It was all "analysts" predictions (aka guesses) saying that supplies would be very tight. Apparently Apple may has a better handle on supply then analysts predicted. And if you think the X is gonna be flop for Apple, guess again. Pretty certain it will break records as the fastest selling iPhone of all time.
[doublepost=1509210193][/doublepost]Ordered 2 space grey, 256g as soon as pre-orders went live. I was able to get one for the 3rd (just changed to "preparing for shipment" :). The second phone has a date of 11/17 - 11/24 (2-3 weeks) and that is the phone that I pre-qualified for on IUP. Really hoping that the date changes. Would love to receive them both on launch day. It's a long shot, but still possible, I guess. Even if it gets bumped up to 1-2 weeks I would be happy. We'll see. So far no update on the 11/17, still processing.

I have had a similar experience.

I finally got the Apple Store app to load 6 or 7 minutes after midnight on Friday (not 12:01 as advertised, but hey). The delivery time said "Friday, Nov. 3" so I was cool.

But then, since I'm on AT&T, it wouldn't let me freaking pay for it, even though I was going to pay fully outright, and not do any credit-related plans.

Why the freaking heck would you block someone (an Apple developer who needs it for testing ASAP) from paying for a product just because you can't contact the phone carrier? Who freakin' cares?

Anyway, it created me a reservation number, so I thought, "OK, no problem... their systems must just be busy."

The reservation page said, I would get an email at "myoldmobilemeID" (which is not even an e-mail address, because it's an old legacy MobileMe account from before Apple required you to use an e-mail address for the username of the account. Even though there is an e-mail address associated with that AppleID and I get e-mails from the App Store all the time, I never got any e-mail updates regarding this reservation.

I checked on Friday morning and it was still pending.

So, after awhile of no e-mail updates, I finally went to the website and checked on the reservation, and went to the checkout stage, and now it's saying 2-3 weeks. When I will be out of town for a few weeks on business trip. Great.

Annnnnd now I'm on hold with the third Apple Store support person (fourth total in a series of transfers) as he transfers me to the fifth person, supposedly a manager this time, since evidently no one but senior managers can make sure that the customer gets the product on the date they were promised it!

And yet I read on MacRumors that people who weren't even told they would get it on the 3rd, are now being told they'll get it on the 3rd.

So what, is Apple like, reallocating our reserved phones to other people before the reservations expire, after blocking us from being able to spend $1350 on a phone because they couldn't contact the carrier? What the hell?

Look, I'm tired of carriers, not to mention cable companies. It's about time that Apple just buys Verizon, Comcast, CenturyLink, TimeWarner Cable, and all that crap and makes it all one experience.

I still have the nov 17th-24th dates through apple, although I did also purchase one through Att an hour and 40 min after pre order start time and have a date for nov 3rd. We will see. Crossing my fingers.

Mine is also preparing for shipment!

Tim

Is that through apple?

Am I the only one who didn’t receive any order confirmation email? My orders show in the Apple store app but I never received any confirmation email. One of the Phone is preparing for shipment.

I did not get an e-mail on this order either. Do you also have an older AppleID where the main login for it, is not an e-mail address? Mine used to be a MobileMe account, and before that it was .Mac, etc. I set it up just for store purchases a long time ago and kept it because all my music and stuff was bought with it. I didn't even know that was the account that was logged in on the Apple Store when I went to buy this phone, and it didn't ask me if I was sure that was the ID that I wanted to use.

As well, my phone is a secondary line on my girlfriend's account. Yet when I went to buy the phone it asked for the last four digits of my social security number. I put it in, and it errored. So then I figured maybe it needed her social, and of course that was the one.

It also populated the shipping address with her name, so I figure they are getting this information from the carrier instead of from me. Ugh. So annoying.

Or the demand is not there. The expected shipping time is just 5–6 weeks today Saturday.

I actually had a similar situation, I got through at first using the app store app. If for some reason went through but then the app crashed. I seen for a quick second right before a confirmation number. I went back on and there was no order, so I replaced it using my upgrade through att from the apple website and it went through. I then got an email yesterday stating that I needed to confirm my order. I realized that it was asking me to pay full price for the phone. they will hold my reservation for 24 hours. I checked my account I got my installment agreement with apple for the second order. So it had me a bit confused all day yesterday. Now I can view the order I have with my app.

Apple should just dump all these carrier related things. Don’t support next or jump or any other program. Sell one phone. And sell it outright, unlocked. If they want to offer some sort of monthly plan, that’s fine. But dump the carriers. Every device sold by apple could be used on any network. They have the power to do it.

This sounds to me like TMobile had a typo in their delivery date and that Apple hasn’t changed anything. A lot of people here said they ordered by 12:03 and hade delivery dates later than launch day. Anyone before 12:05 was able to get launch day delivery. There is no reason that T-Mobile customers shouldn’t as well. So I vote typo.
