Made my order for pickup at an Apple store 2 miles away from me, on Nov 3rd. Order went through as a reservation, finally got a second email yesterday around 2 PM, and the order shows Nov 17-24th. Meh.
Same exact issue I had! :( except mine is trying to ship on the 17-24

That is nonsensical. Everyone who bought last night bought because they wanted one and preferably on launch day, not because there was some illusion they were going to be rare. I don’t think you understand the consequences if Apple doesn’t beat 1Q revenue because it “toyed with availability.” This is Apple’s main source of income. And putting its thumb on the spigot only hurts itself.

Consumers are not so dumb or rich that they are going to buy anything just because it’s perceived to be popular or hard to get. If that were the case AW would have been a monster hit out of the gate instead of it needing years and several iterations. We still have no idea what demand either way for the X is. Early adopters rushing in is nothing new and tells us zero about long term.

There were long lines for the original iPhone. Quite a spectacle. It was the “Jesus phone.” But weeks later Apple had to adjust the price because it was priced more than most consumers were willing to spend on a phone at the time. Early demand is not an indication of long term success. The product must be good and priced right. Well soon find out if that’s the X. Too soon for any conclusion.

You're actually misinformed. There is a great deal of market research available that shows consumers who often plan to buy something at a later date, panic and move that purchase forward when they feel demand for an item is so great it might limit their access down the line. There is also a lot of market research available that most certainly does demonstrate the herd mentality of consumers. If something is perceived as in high demand, more people want it.

This has always been true of Apple products, well, since Job era 2 anyways, Apple consumers, MYSELF INCLUDED, often buy not with justification, but instead "I want it!" as a driving force.

I have a close friend who bought the 8 on release day, telling me he was going to skip the X, only to get nuts over HAVING TO HAVE ONE yesterday as soon as he thought it would be in high demand. He was willing to pay double. He went from rational to irrational simply because the internet told him the X was in high demand.

This type of business practice works, and it works great, it's shady as all get out and I am disappointed in Apple, but I certainly don't blame them, their objective is to make money, period. We consumers are nothing more than a wallet waiting to be opened to them.

At least I’ll be able to hear everyone’s complaints before I get mine...

Exactly, and if any serious defects show up you can cancel and reorder if/when Apple fixes them. I don't expect anything serious but at my income level I require certainty before spending $1200.

Just a suggestion: Might be helpful to post more information,

This is mine:
Silver 256
carrier ATT
ordered Apple.com
Delivery 11/17-11/24 (no change)
email received XX:23.30 (you find the seconds on the email by trying to forward)

This is my exact config... except the email time
[doublepost=1509228296][/doublepost]
I guess 17-24 will move to 10-17 after 11/3 deliveries are done. And 24-01 will move to 17-24 and so on...

So, there’s a slight chance that my 11-18/12 will get home before November ends...

Thats the hope!

We checked lead times for US, UK, Germany, UK, China, Japan and UAE, and interestingly the 5-6 week lead time is consistent across carriers, colors, memory size and geographies. This could mean that the 5-6 weeks number is conservative and users would likely receive it before that timeline.

Yes, plan to buy. No different than what I wrote. But there is zero benefit and loads of downside for a company to intentionally limit supply. Businesses can’t book sales until the item is sold and low inventory does not significantly spur impulse sales, your anecdotes notwithstanding.

Same here. What a bummer. I got that stupid splash screen for 10 minutes on two different devices past 12:01am PST.

Exactly what happened to me, except in was 12:12... I was almost to the point of wondering if Apple had totally flaked and then I started to see all the reports of orders all through and lined up for the 3rd... RAWR

Same. Apple really screwed this up for me as well. My order went in at 12:12 with a 2-3 week shipping time. I was furious.

Add me to the disgruntled list. I ordered at 12:03am and was told that because Apple couldn't communicate with Verizon about my account, I would sent a reservation number. I did receive that email and have been on hold all day with Apple. After hours and hours of listening to the same music over and over again a very nice lady answered and said that she could not help me, because in her words, "you're experiencing a problem with our website and I'll have to connect you to their line." I explained that it was a reservation order problem, not a website problem. She simply said that she could not do anything for me. She said she had no way to check on my reservation number.

I tried logging in using the link in the reservation email be every time it stopped at the "we have to confirm with Verizon your upgrade eligibility..." Needless to say, I am not able to complete my purchase within the 24 hour window.

Here's what I don't understand: I am a month to month Verizon customer and not on a contract. I paid off my iPhone 6 plus over a year ago and owe Verizon nothing. Why would Apple need to communicate with Verizon about anything? Can't I just buy a phone? Why does Verizon have to approve my purchase? I selected the "Pay full price in one payment" option in my order.
Yeah, I'm part of the iPhone upgrade program and my AT&T contract is month to month. I can't for the life of me understand why Apple needs to have any contact with the carriers at this point.

Congrats to those of you with the updated delivery times! We all work super-hard to get the iPhones as quickly as possible and to afford them in the first place. Whether you view people's disappointment and frustration as sad or not, you're on a forum that's dedicated to rumours about technology, so you can leave your negative opinions towards others at the login screen before entering... we all get the buzz and excitement of a launch day and the more of us who can enjoy it the better... even if it is a first world problem.
I love you!

Just adding a data point. My "We're processing your order" email came at 8:15 AM central time (on the 27th). I joined the upgrade program. The email from Citizens One came at 9:47 AM central time. My delivery date is Dec 11th - Dec 18th. (No bump up yet.) So, in six hours they sold out until mid December.

I did have a question. I would prefer to pick up the phone at the local Apple Store for various reasons but that was not an option. I've had other items that I ordered via the internet and delivered at the store. Anyone case to guess why I could not do that with the phone?

Anyone have this problem or see this message when they were pre-ordering?? I’ll attach a pic of it. But I showed one week delivery and just before completing the order I kept getting a message about the IMEI number on my current phone being wrong. Then Apple gave me a reservation number to keep my spot in line and said I had 24 hours to fix my IMEI number. ATT fixed my IMEI number 8 hours into the 24 hour period but on apple’s website they never could recognize the change and I spent all day on the phone with both ATT and Apple and they seemed to just blame each other for the discrepancy, although one Apple rep did some reaearch and said they had a bug they were working out. But...24 hrs came and went and I lost my spot. Any suggestions?? I feel like both companies really screwed be over.

I’m getting the Tumi case. Had one for my 7 and it was perfect. Didn’t add any weight to the phone....protected just enough of the front and all of the back. And still added some “style” to the phone.

Didn’t protect against water but I’ve dropped it PLENTY times and it’s never broken.

I am so disappointed with Apple. I was not able to get in at 3:01 am. The app kept the typical "app store down message" and I kept trying to get in. I got in at 3:07 am and I placed my order and it was immediately set 11/17-11/24. My neighbor one door over got in at 3:02 am and has an 11/3 delivery date. He was on wifi like me and was able to get in. I am so disappointed with Apple. Literally 7 minutes equaled a 3 week delivery.
Same exact situation here. My wifi is amazing, yet apple store did not load untill 3:07. Do you think if we call apple they can get us a better shipping date?

I have had a similar experience.

I finally got the Apple Store app to load 6 or 7 minutes after midnight on Friday (not 12:01 as advertised, but hey). The delivery time said "Friday, Nov. 3" so I was cool.

But then, since I'm on AT&T, it wouldn't let me freaking pay for it, even though I was going to pay fully outright, and not do any credit-related plans.

Why the freaking heck would you block someone (an Apple developer who needs it for testing ASAP) from paying for a product just because you can't contact the phone carrier? Who freakin' cares?

Anyway, it created me a reservation number, so I thought, "OK, no problem... their systems must just be busy."

The reservation page said, I would get an email at "myoldmobilemeID" (which is not even an e-mail address, because it's an old legacy MobileMe account from before Apple required you to use an e-mail address for the username of the account. Even though there is an e-mail address associated with that AppleID and I get e-mails from the App Store all the time, I never got any e-mail updates regarding this reservation.

I checked on Friday morning and it was still pending.

So, after awhile of no e-mail updates, I finally went to the website and checked on the reservation, and went to the checkout stage, and now it's saying 2-3 weeks. When I will be out of town for a few weeks on business trip. Great.

Annnnnd now I'm on hold with the third Apple Store support person (fourth total in a series of transfers) as he transfers me to the fifth person, supposedly a manager this time, since evidently no one but senior managers can make sure that the customer gets the product on the date they were promised it!

And yet I read on MacRumors that people who weren't even told they would get it on the 3rd, are now being told they'll get it on the 3rd.

So what, is Apple like, reallocating our reserved phones to other people before the reservations expire, after blocking us from being able to spend $1350 on a phone because they couldn't contact the carrier? What the hell?

Look, I'm tired of carriers, not to mention cable companies. It's about time that Apple just buys Verizon, Comcast, CenturyLink, TimeWarner Cable, and all that crap and makes it all one experience.

I ran into the same issue - I was selecting my phone at 3 minutes past the hour as soon as the store went live for me, paying full price without contract for a 256GB on AT&T to pick up at the store on 11/3, but they couldn't communicate with AT&T and gave me a reservation. But they didn't actually hold my spot and gave me a 2-3 week delivery date after finishing the reservation the next day when AT&T gave them the "ok".

WHY DID THEY NEED AT&T PERMISSION IF PAYING FULL PRICE? Also, I got multiple errors before I even got to the screen that had my phone number and other info on it, and multiple errors after, so that the reservation message didn't come up until after 10 minutes of trying to push the order through with the Apple Store App on iPhone 7+.

Now I'm seriously thinking of canceling and just getting a SIM free model in a few weeks that will work on all networks, since I'm perfectly happy with my iPhone 7+ for now. But a little part of me is saying "well, I have 14 days to play with it and see if I change my mind".

I got caught up in the excitement when originally planning to skip the 8+ and X, since I'd rather save my money in case they update my iPad mini 4 soon. My iPhone 7+ Geekbench score is more than 2x faster than a typical iPad mini now. I mostly want it for the smaller form factor while keeping a big screen and almost the same battery life as my 7+

Any new update?

Hey Da Hurdler--just checked, I'm still showing 17-24. I found out that both UPS and FedEx do "vacation holds" so hopefully I can have them hold it till I return. Super relieved! Thanks for asking, and hope you get yours soon!

So, just an observation; T-Mobile doesn’t require any such checkups. When buying the phone (full price) there is no check or otherwise communication with the carrier. It just adds to the bag and you checkout. For some reason the other carriers require you to inout the current numbe,r account etc - regardless of your status. Gotta say, go T-Mobile...

This has little to do with Wi-Fi speeds or your internet. No site in the world can handle millions of simultaneous hits. Apple uses CDNs to load balance (used to be via Akamai, but it looks like they may have their own now) and to some degree it’s luck when you get on. The store was open at 12:01, but a lot of folks weren’t able to get on right when. When yours loaded at 7 past, you simply got an open slot.

Not much Apple can do about that. A lottery or waitlist rooms (which is utilized for, say, HP tickets in London) would be just as random.

Same story here in Italy for me. I was ready with two laptops, my iphone and my ipad. when the time came the apple web store kep the 'down refreshing site' for ages. I finally got to enter at 9.11. At that point my order was set to be delivered on 21/28 11. I really hope they can speed up things.

I've ordered the 256gb silver version.

I'm in the UK and was given a list of options to collect from local shops, but when I choose any of them it said it was "unavailable".

Now, what would be interesting to know for us living in Eu is if any European customer has seen his order change. Is this limited only to AT&t customers in the USA?. Why is that so? Weird.
