like with iphone 4...this will show interest and sells going up when it will be more polish, lighter, more useful and a bit less expensive, so im guess on 3d or 4th generation

My desktop and gaming laptop are closing in on five years old. Those need to get replaced before an AVP is in my future. By the time I’ll be looking, I’ll probably wait for revision two. Unless this goes the way of AirPods Max…

I would be a buyer, if not for the price. I won’t say if they are priced correctly or not, it doesn’t matter. All that matters for me is if they are priced at a point I can justify for my personal budget. They are not. I am not in a position currently to do anything about the option. Interest may be down but I suspect more than that, eligible buyers have accessed the device already. My interest is there but nothing can be done about it at this time.

The only surprise here is if Apple is surprised by this.

I love the Vision Pro but it’s $3,500 gen 1 product with a new platform and a new paradigm to most people (devs and customers both).

too expensive and not available everywhere. if you can order it you need to get it fitted. it's first gen product so software isn't great and neither is the hardware.

if it somehow survives i'll pick up a 4th or 5th gen headset if the price is reasonable.

Can’t say I am surprised. The whole process of putting on a headset is significantly higher-friction than picking up a phone, and the price is a big deterrent. To offset that, it needs to offer enough unique features that you don’t get on another platform — and it does not do this.

The whole ‘decreasing number of interactions with the headset’ was also noted by Marques Brownlee some time ago, so again this is not a surprise.

How is that so? Laptops, TV'S etc all sell into the mid to high thousands. Have you priced up a quality projector or soundbar? Tech isn't cheap. The price is no different to a specced up iPhone 15 Pro or iPad Pro.
those are not the majority of people though. I would never pay that much for a phone or an ipad or a tv or any tech and it's not a money issue. To me it just isn't worth it

I think I’m the only AVP user that still loves theirs. Lol. Admittedly, Apple hasn’t pushed any new content, well we did get two things: another MLS trailer and Episode 2 of the dinosaur’s episode. But they were both roughly 5 minutes. Heck, some of Apple’s apps aren’t optimized for it yet. Nevertheless, I’m ready for June 10th to get visionOS 2.0.
I’m in the Still-Love-My-Vision-Pro Club. See you at the monthly meeting 🥳

It is mind boggling that Apple didn't have a plan for more custom content for Vision Pro.

If there was a weekly or even month release of jaw-dropping custom content for Vision Pro, it would increase the FOMO of not owning a pair.

As it stands, no one feels like they're missing out on these things.

Might as well wait 5-10 years until they work out the kinks, the price comes down, and there's some actual content to consume.
Unless Apple gets serious about financing application development, it may never have enough apps to generate an ecosystem worth buying into. Same problem with the Mac right now. They are going on and on about gaming, but how much of their annual profits are going to support indies and gaming studios to make the jump into Macs in a serious way. They really need to be subsidising the market for at least five to ten years, to the tune of billions of dollars. Instead they update the chip and expect the gaming industry to do cartwheels over it. It just doens't work that way. Game shops are businesses too and they need to see Apple investing in the sector if they want to go up against an established market. Instead Apple acts like they are doing them a favour.

I love mine but don’t feel they have really pushed it and a lot of people I’ve met still have no clue about it so I don’t think it’s being advertised very well. I sure haven’t seen any ads or promotion myself. That being said I went to the Apple Store last week and there were still plenty of people trying the thing

I'm confused, I got into a "spirited" conversation with a buyer of the vision pro on these forums that insisted that this particular piece of technology would change the technological world.....where did he go?
Just a guess, maybe he eventually grew tired of the negativity when all he wanted to do was share his interest of his new Apple product with other owners.

This is one of the more thoughtful posts. I'm an AVP owner, and a happy one, at that...but I'm happy just using it for 20 minutes a day for unique viewing experiences. Panorama photos, 360 content, 180ºVR...those are really cool. Like, really, really, really cool. I FEEL the content I'm looking at.

However, I find the lack of compatibility with YouTube and several common 3D and 360 codecs frustrating. I've followed some content creators that have helped get around some of it...but damn, it really seems like AVP was released six months early...the whole cart before the horse phenomenon. Perhaps that was by design, but I feel like I got access to a developer tool, and I'm not a developer.

I'm expecting some major announcements at WWDC. Execution used to be Apple's strength. This can't be the plan. There should be a major integration with Final Cut Pro and a distribution network (whether that's YouTube or someone else) to help gain some momentum.

BTW...one other thing. High quality, immersive-content file sizes are HUGE...I had forgotten what buffering was, but now I've come to expect it every time I want to see something.

At 3K what did everyone expect! Only so many who would throw money on such a device . . .

Wait a year or two and it will be less than $1k

Apple should make a movie where it's made for VR, like where you can walk around the scene, or choose to watch it as a normal movie. Somehow have an array of cameras that you can physically walk around a small area in the movie, and duck down and see what the down low cameras are seeing, look behind you and they use CGI or something to fill in everything 360 degrees, with all the cameras seamlessly stitching together somehow as you move around. People will start lining up again just to check it out. And the movie could still make money as a normal 2D movie.

Or make a photorealistic 3D movie where it's all modelled in 3D. It's 2024 and we have supercomputer chips in our virtual reality headsets, it must be possible by now with enough money.
