Yeah, not surprising in a way, but honestly was expecting a bit more activity here today.
i think who got a vision pro will test whole day and has no time to write here. only people with problems and want ask questions are very fast here . so its a good sign when its not full and all dont want leave using it.

and you cant use the virtual keyboard form visual pro very good, so they cant write from there 😀😁.

I've unboxed the beast but I don't want to set it up until my accessories are delivered. 3 boxes UPS and 1 FedEx (battery). I'm worried that I wouldn't hear the boxes get delivered. The demo at the store was great! Video and audio are awesome!

Exactly. lol. When I get mine tomorrow, I’m not trying to be on this website reading about the VP…I'll be busy using it.

You don’t think people are too busy playing around with their gadget. The last place I’m trying to be is on here. I’ll be too busy being in a movie theater and downloading apps to see what I like. It’s over 600 native apps to try.
Possibly yeah. I just think Apple made a mistake. They should have priced this as 2k and removed unnecessarily expensive feature such as the front screen and eyesight. It's a shame because the price just makes this too out of reach for too many people.

You know you can use it and interact with this forum? Like post your impressions from the device itself. I'm surprised we haven't seen any of that so far.

I know that but shouldn’t they be exploring those 600 native apps instead??? lol. I didn’t spend $4K to come complain on MR.

Well. How do you want to show it? It’s just a normal post. ;)

Even I can tell you I posted this from Vision Pro.

Haha. Those VP users are somewhere on the moon or running from dinosaurs. 😂 As they should. Put that $4K to use!

I’ll squeeze my 2 cents in before you don’t hear from me for awhile, lol (daughter is doing a demo while they bring mine out). This thing is AMAZING. I also know what the ”killer app” is going to be. I would pay a crap ton of money to watch ANY sport broadcast like the soccer and baseball games in the demo! The negative: I’ve been kicking having to buy readers down the road. I’m pretty sure this has shown me the time has come.

Let’s gooooo! That’s what we like to hear!!

Funny you mention that, sports is what I’m most excited about. Just in time for the Super Bowl!

I’m at the office and my AVP isn’t arriving until this afternoon, anyway. I’ll be posting over the weekend.

I think some of the naysayers should stop by the Apple Store for a demo. It's worth your time and confirmed that even the best reviews can't do full justice due to the immersion you'll experience.

Just got back and waiting for the optical inserts to arrive.

At the Apple Store, multiple people were trying on their headsets. Everyone seemed impressed. I was blown away. I have the Quest 3, 2, and all the way back to the original Oculus. This is revolutionary.

My personal key takeaways:

1. Start taking pictures/videos in spatial video. Once you see it, it will be priceless to see personal memories in that format. If I could see my Dad again in that format, I'd pay almost any amount of money.
2. The ease of use of the new OS is remarkable.
3. The video clarity--better than any tv I have.
4. The potential for sports is incredible. One of the demos has baseball, basketball, soccer.

Some "awwww, wow" moments:

The Apple person had me put on a panoramic photo. Then had me look in his direction while he was talking. He faded in while he was talking and then faded out. This will go a long way to alleviating the isolation I felt in the Oculus.

When you're in "AR" mode (not full screen panoramic or immersive video), the clarity of the apps and the surroundings is exceptional. It seems like you're wearing a pair of glasses that have your apps pop up on the lens. You can resize and place wherever you want.

The OS is extremely polished and intuitive. When you look at an app or an action button, it kind of gets darker/slightly bigger so you know you are looking at it. I kept my hand in my lap and was able to do the finger/thumb mouse click and it picked it up ever time.

Sound was really great. While watching a video it felt like I was in a theater. Audiophiles will have some disagreement, but it's good enough for me.

Build quality appears first class, as we would expect for this price.

The only con is truly the weight. With the Oculus, the battery weight at the back helps a little to balance it. I've only tried the original Apple headband and I could feel the pressure on my forehead by the end of the thirty minute demo. Will try the other headband later today. I think the original one will be great for utilizing in a chair where you can rest your head.

Finally settling down after playing around with a bunch of stuff in my Vision Pro. So far - passthrough is a bit disappointing. It is way beyond Quest 3, but still very much obviously a camera feed. My biggest issue is the slight blur when moving your head - I think it might be slightly degrading video quality for a frame, then when you stop, it is more clear again. There is essentially no angular distortion which is a huge issue on the Q3. You can read your phone and other screens - but you won't really want to as they don't look great.

Now for the good stuff - text in the actual visionOS screens looks amazing. I'm typing this on my mac via the 4k passthrough and I'll definitely be using this as part of my normal work setup (Whenever I don't have meetings...) Watching video in this thing is incredible - the theater mode in the TV app really does feel like you are sitting in a movie theater, and the screen itself looks great - I have a 55" LG OLED and if I'm watching a movie alone I'd definitely choose this...of course I'm married so most movies will still be on the TV :D

The partial immersion mode is genius - it lets you "clear" your workspace in front of you while still being able to see things on your desk and behind you. I'm hoping environments get opened up to third parties at some point as there could be some really cool stuff built here and while the built in ones are great, I think they will get stale after a bit.

Window management is my biggest complaint - I feel like I have to spend so much time grabbing window controls and resizing them - I'm hoping we'll get the ability to "save" window groupings somehow, and general sizing info.

Hardware-wise it is great, but the biggest surprise to me is how loose the light seal attaches magnetically. I nearly dropped it today when turning it around to create a persona. Overall it feels a bit odd to carry physically - you don't want to touch the front glass or lenses, can't pick up via the light seal, and it feels too heavy to grab via the headphone pods. So the only way to really pick it up is by the aluminum parts. Maybe you get used to it, but making the light seals attachment stronger would have easily "solved" this.

Overall - I love it so far, but definitely still gen 1. Ran into a lot of little bugs (mainly with 1Password extension, it opens up a little Iris ID window that then can never be closed, then doesn't work.)

Thank you for this. I have no doubt that the tech is impressive. As a Brit I will have to wait a little longer before I get to try it.

Picking mine up tomorrow morning. Last minute order too. It works out because I work today and would rather spend time with my kid after work. Plus I will be well rested for the weekend and can play with the AVP.

I don’t think it’s a fit issue as much as a spacing of my eyes issue. The images on screen look perfect, but the pass through is what’s blurry.
As unlikely as it is for a brand new unit it could still be a manufacturing defect. Seems to be worth trying out in a store.

I am considering whether to get the headset, does it play typical stereoscopic side-by-side VR180 8k media? Many years ago a Samsung Odyssey turned out to look the best amongst many headsets probably due to its AMOLED displays yet bad ergonomics and no stand-alone mode made me shelf that quickly. Since I would only use the headset for actual VR content other features like displaying my Mac's screen are entirely useless to me. The high resolution displays with more than 4k per eye seem absolutely incredible and I got some very high quality 10-bit 12k video I'd like to try the headset with.

THIS is why I can't justify the price tag - I want it for the exact same reason, media consumption in the physical space. But I don't know that immersion is worth ~$4k
For me the big issue is finding out what's even supported in the first place. The extremely high resolution per eye certainly makes this worth the price tag but depending on how well VR media playback is implemented or supported at all it could either be a fantastic headset or a terrible one. It is so hard to find any info whatsoever online.

Definitely try the top strap headband. The other one felt like all the weight was pressing against my face, this one is much more balanced and I've been wearing it now for 45 minutes or so with no issue.

FWIW, I'm a big fan of the Vision Pro and the general direction of where it's going - can't wait to try one out. I know not every owner is going to stop playing with it to start posting here immediately. But just in general we usually have more activity on launch day.

Having said that, this is a new category, launched just in one country, with much more limited volume than other launches that generate a lot of forum activity. So I really shouldn't be surprised by it.

Agreed. Dual band is way more comfortable.

Its a great piece of tech. Makes my Quest truly feel like a toy. Im excited for what this will be like in 3-5 years.

The battery is kinda heavy everything else is warming up
