I popped in just to laugh at the haters. This thing is absolutely amazing, and I have ZERO regrets about buying it. Back to giant movies infront of mountains now.

I haven't been this blown away with an Apple product since the original iPhone.
Not hating at all, this looks really impressive. I’m just regretful. Apple should have tried harder to make the price of this more palatable and to have a worldwide launch, that would have truly ushered in a new era of computing.

Agreed. Dual band is way more comfortable.

Its a great piece of tech. Makes my Quest truly feel like a toy. Im excited for what this will be like in 3-5 years.
Omg. I said the same thing! I have a quest 3 and my 30 min demo with the VP, all I could say at the end was…I see why there’s a huge difference in price. Okay. It shouldn’t be $3K difference though.

The early adopters are paying a premium to be glorified guinea pigs. If anything we should be thankful for them. Hopefully by the time it rolls around to the masses all of the bugs will be worked out.

One thing I am not seeing many people talk about is motion sickness? I haven't used VR headsets much, I tried my friends Quest 2 once and felt sick after a few minutes.

VP owners, do you get motion sickness with it?

I've been playing around with it for about 4 hours now.
Some initial thoughts and observations:
Text is crisp and video is amazing. The immersive videos are jaw dropping.
I grew quickly fatigued using the solo band. The dual solved that.
There's a little light leakage around the bottom of my nose. It's a little distracting. I can also see my eyes dimly reflected when watching movies. Also a little distracting.
Netflix and Hulu work in the browser, but you are limited to a fairly small "screen."
I couldn't sign into Peacock: sign in page wouldn't load. Paramount plus won't play videos. You start a video and it crashes back to the title page. I thought I read reviews where they watched football on Paramount, hopefully this will be an easy fix.
When it works, using it as a display for my MacBook Pro is great. But about 25% of the time I can't get it to sync.
Passthrough is adequate, but it's fuzzy when you are moving and it's not terribly clear when you are not. Definitely won't mistake it for real life.
Controlling things with eyes and pinching works pretty well, but doesn't work enough to be annoying.
I entered the wrong password for Disney a couple of times and it just froze on the sign in screen. I had to uninstall the app to get it to work.
It's hard to drink when you have the goggles on. I was watching Ready Player one through AppleTV in 3D in the theater environment. Looks and sounds amazing. I got some popcorn and a glass of soda. It's a little weird. You can see your hands, but you can't see the popcorn or the glass. I was very worried about setting the glass down on the edge of the side table. It's also difficult to drink with the goggles on. The upper rim of the glass hits the goggles. You need to tilt your head all the way back.
That's it for now. Back to the movie :)

I'll share my initial impressions.

~120 min of use. It has some weight, but for >15 years I wore Stryker surgical helmets for 2-14hr per day. I assume I have already developed some tolerance because I haven't felt any discomfort... yet.

Cons - I'm not sure that these are con's... maybe "wishlist" would be a better word. For the ~10 min I used it to display my macbook desktop, I wish there was a way to change the resolution to match an ultrawide display. A couple of years ago I moved from a 3x monitor setup to a curved ultrawide, and I've never even considered going back. Seems like this would be ideal for the AVP. Additionally, I'd wish there was a long cable that could be plugged directly into the wall. There are times where I am going to be sitting in one location and the daisy chaining of power makes for a cable management nightmare. Lastly, I hope future version have some sort of app management built in. It can get out of hand really quickly.

Pros - Really enjoying the AVP. I can tell I'm going to be spending a far bit of time this weekend. Extremely immersive. A little overwhelming to start, but I got acclimated quickly. Watching media in this is going to be extremely entertaining. Excited to use it while I travel. I'm not sure if I am confident enough to sit in an airplane as everyone walks by staring at me... but I'll be using it in the hotel where I struggle with desktop room to increase productivity.

No motion sickness here at all. The extrememly low lag helps keep that at a minimum

As you were…

I tried to go back to my movie but when I put the unit back on all my open apps were gone. the only app I could get to work was mail. The home screen would come up when I pressed the crown, and I was able to select the apps. but when I did, the screen would just show my living room. No app. Couldn't even pull up settings. Finally unplugged it to reboot it. That worked. The old "turn it off and back on method..."
On a brighter note. I'm writing this post on my MacBook using the virtual screen :)

Yeah, not surprising in a way, but honestly was expecting a bit more activity here today.
It's probably because the owners are still trying to type their posts here using the virtual keyboard, one slow clock at a time and have not finished writing yet..... ;)

Only joking..... Hope you are all pleased with your new devices.
Of course it's all excitement right now. It's going to be interesting to see how things change over time.
I've heard so many people with the Quest headsets saying how amazing things were to start with, but after some time it got less and less used.
Be interesting to see if Apple is able to break this scenario.

HAHAHA... well.... that is fairly representative of how its used.

The newer ones have loupes, additional lighting and cooling, so they can be a little heavy. PA's complain about their necks all the time.

This is literally the US Govt's dream come true. No one has been talking about privacy yet but a direct internet connection and a live stream from peoples face is a golden gift for some. This is probably more valuable then people's phones I'd imagine.

I've looked around settings and can't find an option to display battery %. Anyone know how?

Not really.
What can they learn about a person from the Vision Pro that they can’t already learn about from the front and rear cameras of your iPhone?
If anything microphones are more valuable, and… we have got microphones literally everywhere already in speakers, headphones, pretty much every device actually.

As a European, I thank everybody who pays the price as an early adopter that gets me a useful mass ready version :)

Mine's setup. I really like it. A few thoughts that might be useful to some people ...

1) It's tempting to pick it up by the light seal. There's no glass there to get your fingerprints all over, but it WON'T hold the weight of the headset. You'll get used to this but your guests won't know better. I plan to have them put the Vision Pro on and off in a place where a drop will have it land on something soft like a sofa cushion.

2) Your environment is displayed at a lower resolution (similar to inferior head sets). The on screen graphics are very sharp, though, and easy to read.

3) I am not noticing any chromatic aberrations like I get on my PSVR2 headset. I am using Zeiss reader inserts.

4) I took a 3D (spacial) photo outdoors. The photo looked nice, but I felt it had too much depth. Perhaps the two cameras are too far apart. An amusing side note, I previewed the photo while still standing on my porch, then went back inside. As I did so, the photo stayed outdoor hovering over my porch. I had to manually move it inside.

5) I used my iPad to set it up with my account, but had the impression from the setup screen that an account can be manually setup without already having an iPad or iPhone.

6) Like everyone else so far, I'm switching to the dual loop band.

I like my Vision Pro so far after a few hours of use. Here are some initial thoughts.

Likes
1. Design is beautiful
2. Setup is simple
3. Apple TV+ app and movies in particular are great
4. Vision tracking is very good and hand gestures are great too

Dislikes
1. Glare is sometimes noticeable and distracting
2. Pass through is worse than expected and quite grainy - expected more after reviews. Also don’t move bc it’s even worse if possible
3. Price
4. Battery - but I have a 10 foot long cable so not an issue but it does drain quickly when not plugged in

I come from home theater projectors so if nothing else this is the cheapest 4k projector ever with a massive screen. For that alone it’s probably worth it…

My impressions:

1. Fruit Ninja looks awesome and you can move around and see from different angles, but it absolutely can't detect trying to chop anything. 1/10
2. Synth Riders looks awesome but had hiccups starting. It seemed to be missing a tutorial, so didn't know what the special colored orbs were, had to look that up online. Very accurate tracking, light years different from Fruit Ninja. 8/10
3. D+ is awesome but I wish you could resize the 3D movies. They're kind of small and distant.
4. The dinosaur demo thing was unbelievably sharp and very awesome. Tracking on the butterfly on the finger was not so great if you moved.
5. Productivity! I mirrored my work laptop display and it was incredibly clear and I was super productive for like 2 hours straight wearing it. I normally use a 38" AW ultra wide, did not miss it at all. It was nice having music playing in the background from something _not_ on my work computer as well as youtube (even in a browser) and other browser windows available off machine. :)

Passthrough is miles better than the quest 3/quest pro. No headaches from using it at all (I got splitting migraine using Quest 3 briefly with immersed to try the "productivity" thing)
Weight is a non-factor? I mean, with my quest 3 I get marks on my face using it just for 30m. VP I just get really messed up hair. I used the pretty band, I haven't even tried the double band thing out yet.

Keeping it? So far, definitely. It's a portable monitor that I can use anywhere and has a ton of potential.
