Wow people who buy these better inspect them for defects real well, once you take it home if it has an issue you’re screwed without AppleCare as they will blame you for the defect.

They need to get a version of this thing below $2000, ideally below $1500in a hurry.

They can't even build enough of these things as it is. It's 1 country at the moment. This is as gen 1 of a product as you are going to get. Going to be a while before global developers get their hands on this.

Really it’s waiting for its iPad 2 / iPhone 4 moment.

AVP just needs to find its “story”. With the watch it took Apple a second generation to realize “ok it’s mostly for fitness — it’s not about being a gold Rolex competitor or sending digital heartbeats to acquaintances and strangers.
Even if they bring the base model down to $1500, you are still looking at something like $300 for AC+, $200 (I think it was) for the case, and $100 (I think) for the better strap. Upgrade the storage for $400 and you are back to ~$2,500.

What a rude way to push AppleCare. No way it in this world a repair costs that much with out a 1000% markup . it's bullying is what it is
These repair technician’s labor could be easily beyond $100/hour by itself.

Good thing Apple leases the self repair kit and manual. How hard can repair be?

I wonder if you can purchase AppleCare+ for it in the store when you pick up the Vision Pro like you can with other devices. I didn't opt for it when I checked out but looking at the prices to fix this thing its definitely worth it.

It's looking better to rely on renters insurance with $500 deductible. I don't think my policy has a relevant sublimit or exclusion, but reading now.

At any rate, more insurance companies should write floater policies for this device. A lot of exposure that needs covering.

ill just add it to my Statefarm personal articles policy 0 deductible. Will run about $50 a year and covers loss, theft, damage etc.

You ever tried to file a claim with them? Good luck, they will fight you on every single dollar and ultimately decide for you what they feel your claim is worth.

someone at Apple is smoking oregano if they think these prices are going to fly.

They don't expect you to pay these amounts. They are scaring you into purchasing AppleCare+.

I have a horrible relationship with AppleCare+. I never need it on the devices that have it, but I always seem to need it on the devices that don't. I literally just dropped a 2018 iPad Pro on a tile floor and cracked the glass. No AppleCare+. My other iPad that has it is pristine. So are my MacBooks that have it and my iPhone.

Even so - it's the only extended warranty plan that I even consider for consumer electronics.

Pretty sure you can just add it after the device is listed under your account. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

You can get a personal articles policy; no need for a special insurance plan to cover this. My ex had her flute (she was a professional musician/music professor) insured via one for $50k. It wasn't much per year.

Don’t underestimate the gullibility of fanboys.
