If I were a technician and some 3yr old AVP came in for repair looking all gross and nappy, you couldn't pay me to touch it for $2400.
Then you just ask the consumer to remove the light seal and cushion (also known as the actual parts that are touching your face) and you can just deal with the actual aluminum and glass headset.
Also, even if you were a technician right now, it’s not like phones and tablets are overwhelmingly that much more sanitary.
 
this device is a must for the loneliness epidemic. It's a small cost for realistic VR Corn. Also imagine how much you are saving by not wining and dining women just to get some action.

I'm not even sure why you'd think a desktop would be a comparable device. People don't typically carry their Mac Studio around.

AC+ to iPad Pro 12.9 is 13.5%.
AC+ to iPad Air is 13.1%
AC+ to iPhone 15 PM is 16.5%

It's fair to say the VP's AC+ cost to retail is in the ballpark.
 
They aren't, they're break-even at best. Apple has made this clear in sworn testimony just recently.

And this year they tell a story about how a company can successfully turn the expenses of warranties into a profitable aftermarket service.

Plainly stated, Apple's product warranty expenses continue to decline, while AppleCare protection plan sales have resumed their growth. By the end of this most recent fiscal year, AppleCare was bringing in three times as much money as product warranties were taking away.

They weren’t talking about AppleCare, they were talking about the cost of repairs.
 
someone at Apple is smoking oregano if they think these prices are going to fly.
1,000%! If someone is serious about buying this device, and has the money to blow...they should definitely throw down $300 for a Quest or whatever it's called. Spend a month with it. Bet you'll find you don't need to spend 4k on something that you'll find you won't use as much as you'd think.
