Unfortunately yes. I even tried 8K videos and it’s still a blurry mess in 360 VR. I was expecting to watch some nice holiday vacation goal videos but it hurts my eyes and looks bad. It’s basically just a blown up and zoomed in video? Idk it reminds me of sitting too close to a tv and then you can make out all the flaws
What bugged me the most was, especially in dark scenes, the image would sort of do a full “refresh” every second. I believe it has to do with I-frames but I’m not sure how it all works.

Just didn’t look great and it felt like I wasn’t getting close to the full experience. And that’s totally on YouTube to fix — not Meta or Apple.

You cannot hot-swap the battery in the same way that you cannot hot-swap your iPhone’s or iPad’s battery, but you can attach a power bank the same way you can with an iPhone or iPad. This was clear since June.
Okay, but imagine that experience during a flight or somewhere where you cannot just “plug in”. Watching a movie, “battery low, powering down”, having to take the headset off, plugging in another battery, putting the headset back on, powering it on, THEN having to navigate back to the app to find the movie you were just watching. On an iPhone or iPad? I’m not having to take a BULKY headset off. And mind you this is ALL for what…a bigger screen? At least I can play games on an iPad or iPhone…

You can plug it in while on the plane, but swapping the battery isn't going be that big of deal.
Not all planes are equipped with charging ports. And what will airlines say about someone wearing a headset that is attached to a cord, in terms of safety?

I'm doing work right now at my desk with two 4K 27" displays.
I don't have a headache; I can tune out the rest of the room; and the displays will go as long as I have power in my office.

Compared with... Quest Pro or Vision Pro... how is it better?
At least with the other VR headsets it’s pretty clear what they’re for: gaming. But it’s like Apple went out of its way to make sure VP would not be thought of or compared to gaming devices. So no one can really say what VP is for other than having a bunch of apps floating around in space.

Who cares let’s be honest the Vision Pro is locked down doesn’t even have YouTube app and you can’t do proper vr games so what’s it good for well content viewing cool and external monitor wow, is that it for £3500 it has no special features, the pass through from reviews are not impressed, let’s be honest the £480 quest 3 can do so much more and can actually do vr games and watch content in huge cinema with big screen vr; what is the Vision Pro it’s another useless product that’s limited
Games will come, most devs don't even have access it yet.

You can plug it into a power pack, and no different than cabled headphones.

Is it just me or are the windows so blurry? I checked TheVerge's review and the VP's screen recording was so blurry. Hopefully it is not blurry when actually using it. Sample attached..

Edit: Added screenshot from Brian Tong's video.

The Verge review is excellent. Balanced, thorough, and to the point. Highly recommend. WSJ is not bad but it is bare bones.
Some of his cons came off as trying to find a reason to be negative. For example, the battery life is same as the Quest 3.

I am amused by the final words in the Verge review, asking if you really want a computer that has video cameras looking at your hands at all times... hardly the ideal porn viewer after all. 🤣🤣
Like just about every computer and phone doesn't have cameras looking at you.

8k isn't really sufficient for 360, and no video is ever going to look great on the Quest 3.

IMO you want something in the region of 50 pixels per degree to pull it off well, and that means an 18k resolution source and maybe 6k per eye for a very immersive experience.

The former is definitely doable now, the AVP gets pretty close to the latter. Whether there is anything that can actually deliver it to the device is an entirely different matter though.

AND YOU CANNOT HOT SWAP BATTERIES!! 🤣🤣🤣 All of you out here thinking you are doing work or watching movies on airplanes, are going to be big mad with your preorders. I wonder what the return process is like?
Has anyone tried daisy chaining a USB-C battery pack yet? More bulk, but if it works it should be a sufficient workaround

Which review was that from? Reports were saying that they were hot swappable with the Vision Pro having a battery that lasted about 5 minutes just for that purpose.

The Vision Pro is only above 4K resolution when using up the entire panel - if you're making a quasi 100" screen then it isn't, because you don't want that screen to be one inch from your face. It's effective resolution for watching video content on a big screen is more like HD.

Which is still decent, but it's not "better than a real life OLED" in terms of image resolution.

The Verge's text review is quite informative, definitely the most useful.
The color reproduction limits and fringing at the edges seem like a big downside to replacing your TV full time too.

The thing I can’t get over is how isolating it seems. You have this these big, dorky looking ski googles attached to your face. Even if you can see through to what’s around you, you don’t look like you’re present. Who would want to engage with someone who has this strapped to their face?
Yeah, I’d only ever use this once everyone else in the house is in bed already or out. The front screen, which probably shows up really bad on camera still probably isn’t good enough to be worth it.

FYI: the reason to buy the Vision Pro now is the home audio/visual entertainment. There aren't any other products on the market that can deliver an equivalent experience for less than $3500.
No, but there are many products in the market that give you a *better* experience for less than $3500, like any decent laser projector which wouldn’t isolate you or tire your neck after 20 minutes.

Never watched any of his videos, but Brian Tong's video is better at actually showing how the device works than the Verge and WSJ videos. Yeah, maybe it's a bit over enthusiastic, and more of an uncritical marketing video, but it's also more informative on the actual functionality of the device.

That's just male iJustine. LOL
