Creasing is not cracking. Don't shift the goalposts. MagSafe for iPhones is a subpar product, not only because it leaves marks on the first day on multiple cases (not just leather) but because it's borderline useless to charge anything except the latest models of iPhones.

You're better off with any standard fast wireless charger.
Thanks for this because you know all the answers. 🙄

How could they not have considered this in the design phase?

Not that a case imprint is that much of a biggie, but the MagSafe charger is starting to seem like more trouble than it’s worth.

Just wait until it's the only option.

I think this is the sloppiest iPhone released to date. To be fair it’s a lot of nitpicks but that’s unusual for Apple.

I wonder what happens to your credit cards if you unwittingly put your iPhone in the same pocket as a regular non-shielded wallet? Also I hope none of you work in an industrial setting, because if you do, you’re going to have a ring of iron dust collecting on the back of your phone.

I am a big Apple fan but I fear this system is going to be a disaster even if you don’t use the charging puck.

MagSafe is clearly a pass. It makes no sense to invest upwards of $60 for a large charging puck and 20w adaptor for slower charging and potential of a circle mark on the case. I cant even use the Apple Watch puck because its so annoying.

I’m not sure what Apple was thinking, but I’d hate for my case to have a circle worn into it. I’m all for leather patina, but this is crazy.

On another note, the fact that people would willingly pay Apple $50 for a cheap leather wallet that slides off when you put it into your pocket shows you how half baked this MagSafe idea really is. Oh well...

Why can't I just use my 30 pin connector?

MagSafe was great in 2006. But it's turning into a MagFail.

Cancelled my order because it leaves marks on the Apple leather case and charges at half the speed of a cable. Can you imagine what Steve would have thought of it?

This feels like a rushed product in every step of the way. Leather wallets falling right off, rings on cases almost immediately apparently, just feels like a half-ass launch of a product to enhance the PR side of a new phone.

Magsafe for the iPhones is an attempt to come out with something that would grab the interest of their customers. Rest of the bits of the new devices are merely iterative over previous generation.

If I buy a Pro, I’ll include the Plum case and skip MagSafe charging. I was going to skip anyway, but already owning both Qi and USB-C chargers, I’ll pass.

As far as leaving marks, that is taking branding to another level.

I’m just curious. What speed (or ratio) did you think it would charge at compared to cables? It’s night and day comparing wireless charging to usb c.

Where does it warn of them in the support document?
“ If you keep your iPhone in a leather case while charging with your MagSafe Charger, the case might show circular imprints from the contact.”

I really liked the idea of MagSafe but either the technology just isn’t there yet or Apple really bungled this whole thing. From the dreadfully slow charging times, to the accessories not living up to expectations, to now the charging puck itself damaging cases or even potentially the back glass of the phone there is plenty for Apple to be ashamed of here.

I expect a high quality from Apple but this is embarrassing.
