Apple Watch 2 Wishlist

It doesn't matter what Apple does, I satisfied my curiosity when I bought the original, gave it a very fair evaluation, and then returned it. This is not a product for everyone, or even a large number of people. Too much like a gimmick or annoyance based on the plethora of notifications, alerts, alarms, even when one minimizes them as I did.

Turning them all off defeats one of the watches "advantages" yet for my style of proactively managing my schedule it simply makes no sense to have _ONE_ more device to charge, to maintain, to clean.. on and on it goes. I'll pass on AW.

My ideal device is a smartphone.

I have no problem expending the back breaking effort and time it takes to retrieve it from my pocket. 😀
 
1)More independence from the connected device. An example could be a GPS app that allows to track routes and view information like topographic maps right on the wrist.

2)Additional sensors built in. Add in continuous heart rate monitoring, oximeter, temperature sensor, GPS, and an altimeter. Apps that utilize those sensors would be the reason to get a watch. Things like an oximeter and altimeter would would allow further inroads into fitness and the outdoor market.

3)Thinner design. We all make jokes about how obsessed Apple is with thinness but it is needed on the Apple Watch. Not by a whole lot but a few millimeters would make a huge difference.

4)Smaller bezels. It would make the device feel less clunky and would allow developers to a tiny bit of extra space.

5)Increase in battery life or an accessory that increases it.

6)Increase in local storage.

7)Faster processer and refinement of WatchOs

8) Compatibility with previous generation bands.

9)Price drop by 50 dollars (would put it more in line with competition and have more impulse sales)

10)Selling of an Apple Edition like charging case.

11)Watch Specific Store to sell things like Watch Faces and small apps that run natively ties in with 1.

12)Continued support from fashion houses and increase in partnerships. More band manufactures is always a good thing. Try to get inroads into traditional clothing retailers and jewelers by a 3rd Party Band certification process.

13)Addition of an electroplated Silver and Gold option (built on the stainless steel body).

At first I thought that 46mm would be large after reading your post but then I realized I have a 46mm analog watch and it fits nicely even thought I don't have huge forearms.

Would be interesting to see what it would look like.
 
GPS .. GPS .. GPS

Also more freedom for developers to actually build apps that work. WatchOS2 apps have been a major disappointment (the few that are actually available) .. and the blame seems to rest with Apple for releasing a buggy and restrictive OS.

Less Features:
The biggest problem with the Apple Watch is that it tries to do 100 things but it isn't good at 95 of them.

Focus on Talents:
Notifications, Fitness and Siri. More focus on specific features would result with a more refined product and likely better battery efficiency (pending it is a different design).

Drop the Fashion Nonsense:
Nobody is looking at an Apple Watch owner and saying "Ooh la la... what a stunning look". An Apple Watch is the equivalent of those ladies who carry their phone sticking out of their bra. Its a convenience but it is in no way classy.



For me, I would love to see the Apple Watch "devolve" into a wearable gadget and nothing more. Why try so hard to make it duplicate phone function when it will NEVER outperform our phones? So let it be exactly what it should be. A iPhone accessory.

Funny as everyone who sees my watch (or friends) thinks it looks stunning. It is a fashionable device as it is a watch. Just because you don't see/like this doesn't make it not so.

"Wow, that looks really nice... For a Mini Van"
"Whoa, that's a huge backyard... For a SoCal house"
"Well that was a well acted play... For High School kids"
"Hey that is a stunning watch... For a wrist gadget"

Appreciation for how we judge things is relative to the category it is in. Sure, our Apple watch looks good... compared to uglier smart watches. But as a piece of jewelry then nobody is looking at your wrist and saying "Whoa, sweet rectangle dude" or "Now that's the accessory I'm going to plan my outfit around".

And that is my point about Apple and Fashion. Apple is trying to convince people that they have created a fashion product when they really only created a "not-ugly" smart watch.

So, rather than Apple trying to be something they're not (jewelry makers, fashion creators) and focus on things they're great at (innovative, simple, power efficient tools) then the Apple Watch 2 could be much more than "an even more beautiful rectangle".

1. Better battery life so it can be on all the time.
2. In built GPS so the running app experience is improved.
3. Waterproof so I don't need to take it off when swimming or at the beach.
4. Better speakers for phonecalls.
5. Faster processor so less lag opening apps.

Until 1 and 2 are introduced I doubt I will be upgrading.
 
Use the Digital Crown to scroll through lists on the Apple TV while using the Remote app. Can't tell you how many times I've instinctively tried to do it.
 
I really am hoping that Apple takes cues from Samsung on this one... The Apple Watch, in my opinion, is really just an iPhone dependent item that isn't necessary. It has potential, but after I saw what Samsung Gear can do, I felt regret that I didn't get that.

If Apple can combine the concept of the two: essentially a phone on your wrist, then we will be talking. Must haves are a keyboard to type and I would generally like a web browser. Other than these two features, which ones would you like to see?

Have you thought throw how in the world a web browser, let alone a keyboard would work on a watch?

Samsung's Gear S watch does both just fine. It's unfortunate that Apple didn't take a similar approach when designing the Apple Watch.

I've contemplated selling my Apple Watch for a Samsung Gear S, but one of the main reasons why I really don't want to do that is because of the health kit that Apple has on iPhone and Apple Watch. It's a silly thing, especially considering the Apple Watch is about $200 more, but that's what it is I guess.

You want to browse the Internet on a tiny screen with limited input method that can also take phone calls?

For starters, I wouldn't want to see either of those two features. If I want to type or browse the web, I'll use my phone.

I want the AW2 to be thinner, facetime camera, and for it to be faster. It's a smartwatch, not a smartphone on your wrist.

Definitely not the 2 features you are after. The Apple Watch isn't meant to be an iPhone, iPad or a Mac

For now the Apple Watch does web browsing in a very simple and (some might say) effective way with such apps as eBay, Amazon etc but when your phone is with you why bother ? Siri is also helpful with simple questions and thats without a keyboard.

Would you read forums like this on your watch ? if you could, would you reply using a keyboard ? I really can't imagine why anyone would............but thats just my opinion 🙂

To answer your question, I want Watch 2 to be faster, slightly thinner and water resistant to allow for swimming
 
I want the next generation of AW to be better as a watch, not a poor imitation of a phone.

For me, the number 1 thing I'd like to see is the ability for the watch to display the time all the time. As someone who used to wear a normal watch previously, I find having to flip my wrist whenever I want to see the time annoying and an AW should be able to perform as well as a normal watch in this regard.

After that - it needs GPS and waterproofing to make it a serious exercise watch, and apps need to load much quicker.

No what I'm asking you is HOW in the world putting a web browser on a 2" screen works. What exactly are you even able to do with it?

For that matter, how in the hell are you typing? Why is this a better solution than using a phone or a computer?
