Sorry about this not being a little thing, but consensus seems to be that there’s so little to talk about watch os 4 that we might as well keep it in one thread.

Beta 3 is indeed much smoother frame rate wise, and I’ve seen one of the new animations for closing a ring. However battery life have not improved much or at all for me, at least when doing workouts. Took the watch off charge at 7.30am, did a combined walk / play workout for about an hour and was dead by 3pm. Series 0.

Asking Siri homekit commands from the watchOS 4 beta 3 does not work.

Yet from the iPhone it works.

Same here. I just re-paired the watch with my phone, so now the Home app on the watch at least shows my scenes and accessories. But Siri HomeKit commands aren't working.

Strange! I’m on beta 3, unplugged at 8am. It’s now nearly 4pm and I just completed a 5 mile indoor run and my watch is at 74%.

Same for me with the much better battery life, series 2. I also am seeing the completed goal animations as of the new beta.

Wonder if anyone else is experiencing this? On Betas 2 and 3 when recording my activity the 30 Min workout ring is not recording the proper time. As an example I went on a 90 min hike and all it recorded was 15 mins. This is happening with all my activities. The Stand and Active Calories are recording correctly.

Not really to do with watch os4 beta (unless the sensitivity has been adjusted i guess) and more to do with you not working hard enough on that hike (in the apple watch's algorithm's opinion). Only workout - other has a guaranteed 1:1 relationship of exercise time:exercise ring filling. One thing to be aware of is how your arms are swinging, compared to normal. I have a backpack for my kid to sit in and it must unconsciously interfere with my arm movements because my god is it difficult to fill my exercise ring with her on my back, even if i walk faster than usual.

I agree, but these are the same workouts that registered much longer in OS3.

Don’t know if this existed in older versions:

Is it only me, I connected my Bluetooth headset to my watch, under settings it shows connected, yet I can play any music thru it, but it takes forever to connect to the music Watch app.

If I force touch the music app, air play comes up and shows me two duplicate Bluetooth headsets. Neither connect automatically. Yet in settings on the Watch I only see one Bluetooth headset listed.

This is with the iPhone in airplane mode and Bluetooth off on iPhone. As I have a playlist on the watch and don’t need the phone during workouts.

Anyone else notice this or have a suggestion to fix it? I removed the Bluetooth headset and readded it with the same problem.

Thanks

If you are using the beta it's been hit or miss for me. Last weekend on Saturday my bluetooth beats headphones connected but no music would start playing. When I tried it again on Sunday I was able to play an album of music I had synced to the watch. Try rebooting everything to see if that helps.

Anyone else notice this (from Apple's WatchOS 4 page)

Emphasis mine... does WatchOS4 allow you to put more music than the previous 2.0 GB limit?
This might be the new heavy rotation option you can turn on with watchOS 4. You can now add multiple playlists and if you turn on the heavy rotation option, it will automatically add more songs.

My old series 0 is the one I upgraded to Os4 beta and it has been a pretty poor but acceptable beta given that it may be 6+ weeks or more before we see the new OS outside of betas.

I have the missing icons that others have noticed, but I seem to have about 6 apple apps like alarm, stop watch, stocks, music and more but all work still. The dock works but if you try to delete an app from the dock it boots me out of the app. Battery was a problem but repairing solved that and I had to do that a few times. Battery drains faster when you do a workout. Missed notifications is common. If you use theatre mode, touching the screen is hit or miss that it will light up the screen. Sometimes you think the watch is off or dead because it will not wake no matter what you do. A minute later or seconds later, you touch the screen and it wakes up. I use the AutoSleep app and it was fine with beta 2 but with beta 3 it will say I slept 1 hour or maybe 2 hours instead of 8.

Loads of fun. :)

I will not put this beta on my series 2 and I would not recommend this to anyone to install.

New watch faces are an embarrassment in my opinion.

I tried that, rebooting, didn’t help... I ended up bringing up the Music app, turned on, turned off and turned on again my Bluetooth headset and it played music. What’s strange is my headset shows up twice on the music app. If I power off the Bluetooth headset one copy of my Bluetooth headset shows up. I wonder if the duplicate is my issue. Under settings on the Watch only one shows when the Bluetooth headset is powered on or off.

Where is beta 4 to fix this annoying bug! :(

So far, the new activity animations display for:

- Daily completions of move, exercise and stand rings
- Weekly completion of move ring
- Weekly completion of stand ring
- Weekly completion of exercise ring

Going by this, it might also display for monthly achievements as well. It doesn't apply for the special challenges like this month's National Park 3.5 mile run though, which is slightly disappointing.
My new animations have suddenly stopped showing. Tried a reboot. Just doesn’t show anything only text

Has anyone gotten the heart monitor to record data on any kind of regular basis? Mine will only record if I do a Breathe or a workout. Nothing any other time.
