Just noticed-- when using the Mickey Mouse face, Mickey blinks every 15 seconds! (I'm in Anaheim today, so it seemed necessary to have that face selected.) Is this new in 2.2?
I believe so. I noted also that the colon between the hours and minutes on the modular face also blinks on and off every second. I think that's new, too.

I've never noticed this before, but when I got my stand goal for today, it actually showed the timeline in the notification

Really? So you think the next applewatch won't be released until the Fall?? And the price will go back up $100?

If I had to guess, I would assume a fall release as the opening new product to go with a major new iPhone 7. I do not believe the watch price will go up. The new prices will stay.

I'm noticing that performance in 2.2 seems a lot snappier. Apps load faster an UI responsiveness seems a lot better. Not sure if I'm just imagining things

is anybody else seeing great battery life?

i've got a 38mm SS, and i've worn it now for 1 day, 10 hours. and still 7% left. usage is 3h 21, which seems low but perhaps there's less background "wasted usage" as a benefit of 2.2 in addition to me using it a little less at the weekend.

Agreed. The update along with my new Apple nylon band gives my watch a whole new feel. It feels light fast and responsive.

Really? So the apps aren't slow anymore with the new update?

I hope it won't. I'll be more inclined to get the next one if the price stays the same.

A few third party apps are still slow to load, but the basic apps like weather, activity, calendar, etc. all load way faster and are more responsive. A few of the third party apps I use are notably faster as well. Animations seem smoother in general. This is what I would have expected on day one, but it took them a whole year to get the software to a decent state.

The improvement in battery life after 2.2 has been nothing short of phenomenal. Before the update, I'd usually have about 35% left after 15 hours. After the update, it's more like 50-60%. Would love to know what they did for that substantial a change.

Will Watch OS 2.2 work with an iphone on 9.2.1? I understand to update it must be on 9.3 but could I update my Watch on someone else's 9.3 iPhone and keep my phone on 9.2.1...

I'll ask the $100,000 question: why?

I don't like updating my phone til bugs are worked out, plus if there is a jailbreak, I may limit my options if
I go to 9.3 - but no biggie...I didn't see any have to have updates in 2.2 so I'm just looking at my options. I had to lose my phone jb to setup my watch last week.. I'm a watch newbie.
My guess is the answer is no, you can't use a watch on 2.2 unless your phone is on 9.3..

The have to have updates are all under the hood. Performance is much improved.

I can't go back and review 42 pages of posts but wanted to throw in that I think the workout "other" is recording better now. I normally warm up 30 minutes of cardio at the gym on a bike and before 2.2 the watch only showed about 2/3 of the calories versus the bike. Now they are very close.

Why would you use other and not indoor cycle, for an indoor cycle...

That's not really an answer to the question lol.

You're measuring calories using the wrong algorithm. How does indoor cycle compare to the bike, and to other?
I did answer the question. The bike is a short warm-up for the weight workout. I'm not like some of the OCD types here that would record the bike part on indoor cycle, end it then start up a new workout on "other" for the weight training part (which is the larger part of the workout).

Turn on "other", do the workout start to finish, end workout is fine with me. Thanks.

Amen to that... I do the exact same thing and it all goes as other. Seems a little too obsessive to think about breaking out the warmup for a few algorithm calories.

-- watchOS 2.2 (13V144) --
  • Mickey Mouse blinks every 15 seconds
  • Modular Watch face flashes its time separators
They are wrong.
This is because, was the same action already in version 1.0. :)

Hello. Just bought an Apple watch and saw how podcasts work.
I use headphones with my iPhone in my pocket so the now playing screen looks handy.
I've had a look at native podcast apps and can't see why they're necessary. Am I missing something?
BTW, I have tried all the major podcast apps and prefer the iOS one- for looks and as it works well in Carplay.
