I used workout with my Apple Watch series 2 with bulr-in GPS today. I choosed Hiking activity which is available in Other type lf workouts. I noticed there is no tracking route, distance (!!) and elevation. Is this normal? I stopped it and choosed outdoor walking type of workout then and everxthing worked as expected.

Also I don't like water icon on lock button. I did not choose swimming or any other water sports. When I unlock watch with the digital crown there is also loud testing sound which a little weird if I unlock it multiple times.

The "Other" category doesn't use location tracking, even if you name one of them "Hiking".

That sound should be the speaker attempting to blow water out of the speaker hole.

But is it a expected feature? Should't some of activities in "Other" workout category track location tracking and others stuff?

Again. It should be changed. Who need blowing water feature when not swimming or doing other water sports? What I really need is to lock screen on my Apple Watch. Loud beep sounds. Is it necessary?

Hi, I'm holding off on updating to Watch OS 3 till there's a simpler way of accessing "Now playing" controls. Currently I just swipe up from the bottom to access Now Playing (using podcasts mostly)

OS 3, you need to dock it and though you can save it in your first docked item; you still need to click a button, swipe left to access the now playing screen (a lot of steps to just skip forward or change volume using the crown)

Is there any simpler way of skipping forward in podcasts or changing volume on Watch OS 3? A now playing complication would be good.

Can't you just use the LOCK function instead of the WATER LOCK function? Both are available in Control Center.

No. What you name the Other category has no effect on how it tracks your move and exercise.

Yes. Moisture comes in many forms, including sweat. It's a water lock for a reason.

Can anyone who's updated to 3.1 comment specifically on that build: New features, enhancements, etc... it's hard to distinguish in this thread who is commenting on which release. Thanks!

So far I'm real pleased that I am unable to add Cards to Apple Pay and my Heart Rate monitor is not stable!

No new features or enhancements. Just speed increases for me using a series 0 watch.

I can't do that on 3.0 either. When you say "Heart rate monitor is not stable" what do you mean? Does it crash?

I don't think 3.1 would introduce new features. This is probably a bugfix release where they fix the bugs they found in 3.0.

Probably start to see something new by OS 3.2 update.

On Monday I was in my 3rd morning workout and I was sweating heavily and my watch rebooted twice and would no longer read my pulse (stayed gray)

I have a second watch that is still on 3.0 and used it today and the same workout and I've second watch was rock solid.

I think..
Both watchOS 3.1 and iOS 10.1,
Apple Pay support in JAPAN is thought that it would be the main update.

on ⌚

I am going keep track over the next couple of days for consistency, but, after updating my AW2 to 3.1 yesterday, I had 65% battery this eve at 9pm, whereas before I was usually at about 48%.

I used it the same as other days.

I set my watch to charge at around 9pm so it's fully charged for sleep tracking.

I have found that since the original version of the watch the optical heart rate sensor has difficulty with moisture and perspiration between the sensor and skin. When I'm having a problem with reading I simply try to wipe off the perspiration between the watch in the arm. I've had the exact same problem with other optical sensors like mio heart rate monitors

After 2 days of use, 3.1 beta 2 seems even smoother still than beta 1 for me - using a series 0 Watch. Animations seem better and faster than before. Not noticed any new features besides this. Apple Pay and heart rate sensor working fine.

That's a handy tip, Thanks! :)

I repaired my Series 2 watch and now it is working much better! I was able to add apple cards and the heart rate is rock solid and battery life is much improved!

woo hoo.

now if they only made a way to pair/unpair via a cable that did not take hours! (I have a lot of apps!) :)

Anyone else have an issue with extremely slow sending of messages created using "Hey Siri"? If I create a message that way, it might take over a minute to send it (and sometimes it doesn't go at all). In contrast, if I dictate a reply to a message I've received and hit "Send" it's transmitted right away.

i'm not on the beta and I get this.

Sorry: I should have mentioned that this has been a problem for me since 2.1.

On another note, my battery life on 3.1 seems to be considerably better. I had about 12 hours of standby time and 3 hours of use time yesterday and had 68% battery life remaining at bedtime. Much better than 3.0.

Yeah, it waits for a minute to send it. If you dictate the message using Siri, the button changes to "Don't Send" by default on the message you dictated. If you're driving for instance, it's easy to turn off the display accidentally, so I think Apple designed it so that you can have the opportunity to press the "Don't Send" button for a minute, and then it'll send.

What you can do is, put your palm over the watch when it says "Don't Send" on the dictated message. That'll immediately send it.

At first, I wasn't sure if you literally meant a minute, but reading further, I see you meant exactly that. Great tip on covering the watch! I would have expected that lowering my arm would have the same result, but it hasn't.

in that case it looks like we're having different issues after all!
