At those prices I think I'll just buy the magnetic charging cable for $39 and pretend I have an Apple Watch :D

A 17,000 Dollar watch MADE IN CHINA hahahahaha....

...hahahahahahahaha

I like the ideal of the Millenese Loop but I like the Link Bracelet better. Unfortunately it is the highest priced band in the Apple Watch collection bringing the cost to $1K. However, I have said since last fall this is a 2016-2017 product for me. I prefer to see how the reviews go, how the app functionality develops and then to take advantage of model 2.0 or 3.0 tech advances. My only concern is that Apple will add more functionality and maintain battery level rather than really improve it. I think the only reason I can see same year over year battery level being acceptable is if the next release or two slims down the bulk. Apple loves to go "thinner" so let's hope for a thinner Apple Watch next year.

This product's insanely high pricing and limited uniqueness reeks of Apple throwing their name and weight around to ensure sales. I feel like this is the biggest smoke and mirrors Apple product release ever, and I'm actually a little offended at how blindly loyal and brainless Apple thinks it's primary consumer-base is. This is not fashion. It's a tech gadget that will only be relevant for 3-5 years before becoming obsolete. Don't let the wool get pulled over your eyes.

I was waiting for the Apple Watch to replace my Polar I use for gym and running. I guess the $399 is in line with a nice Polar, Garmin or Sunto. Problem is that Apple Watch will be outdated in 1 year when they launch the Apple Watch 2. And know GPS is a deal breaker for me. I would never consider an Apple Watch as my everyday watch. I will keep my very nice Swiss watch that will hold its value for life and will never get outdated and will keep getting the new iPhone every 2 years. BTW, I may have missed but will this watch work by itself or will have to have an iPhone close by to function?

I can't believe the price of the Edition model - yowza, staring at 10,000

The other price points are close to what I was thinking, though the stainless steel model seems higher then I was estimating.

Apologies, I thought the first page were all the bands available. I didn't see the link to view all bands. Not sure why it doesn't show all of them by default, but I've edited my OP. Thanks for pointing this out.

I see the 42mm version on the Apple site.

Pretty sure it comes with the 42 for $699. Wouldn't make a lot of sense if they only offered the 38 size Milanese Loop as an accessory.

38mm Sport + Milanese loop = $500
38mm SS + Sport band = $550
38mm SS + Milanese loop = $650

I just don't get it. Now, I do agree that similar would've been the reaction when they first announced the iPod and when many people first saw the prices. However, it is to be seen how this new product will be received - for although the iPod may be considered a standalone device to a certain extent, the Watch supplements the iPhone.

Before this keynote I had decided to get a watch nomatter what... Now im really not sure.

Not that I do not like the product but honestly 49$ for a rubberplastic wristband! 249$ for a standard leatherband! (That is 8-10 times higher price than you can get one like it now in a watchstore) for a leather watchwriststrap!

Let me buy the watch without any band and buy one myself.

Honestly I know im stupid but im not an idiot.

To be honest I find the prices so insulting that I would feel like a complete idiot if I went out and got one of these watches. That kind of makes me not want to buy one.

42mm Steelmodel and leatherband at 499$ and I would think about it....but 699$ no freaking way. I can afford the plastic alu "kids" model but would be so sad every time i had to look at it.

Seems a lot of people have no idea how much a high-end designer watch costs.

It seems you have no idea that luxury watches are works of art that have horological significance and are intricately detailed and crafted. They are the types of things that are passed down through generations. Not just some silicone and metal that will be lucky to work in 5 years.

It is insulting to even mention this absurd thing in the same breath at something like a Patek.

I think people just come here to whine. I doubt anyone here was going to buy a gold watch in the first place.

The stainless model costs about the same as a long weekend in a decent hotel. Big deal.

The Edition - wow.

I'm going with SS and Milanese, I think. And then I'll pick up another band at some point in the future.

Thank goodness the charging cables are reasonable - I like to keep a spare in my luggage for when I travel.

And I'm deeply in lust over the new MacBook.

I'm less shocked about the price of the actual watches but in disbelief about the band prices. A predominantly leather band for $250? The metal link bracelet for $450? Holy s...!

Thank the Lord someone gets it :)

I expected the edition to be pretty expensive, but thought the Link Bracelet wouldn't cost $449 on it's own. That's a bit much. I will have to check out the Milanese Loop sometime when I'm at the store. It's unlikely I'll get an Apple Watch this year, unless I decide that the low-end model is nice enough.

For a watch with limited capability

I'm usually a early adopter but the price point for the overall value add is too high for me. :(

I was hoping to see the different wrist bands available to the sport edition of the watch. So to get the flexibility in styles I'm going to have to buy the 599 apple watch and buy the extra bands. While add on extra features like blood pressure monitoring and other features on the watch are missing. For a watch, this will be an investment for me and I don't want to have to replace almost immediately when rev 2 comes out. The second gen will definitely have more features and whatever lessons learned by Apple on the 1st gen. I've been living without a watch for the past 10 years (using my iPhone or smart phone) so can live without it for another year +.

Yep I'm shocked...it's not like Apple are a renowned watchmaker such as Tag Heuer that can charge that sort of money and will last a damn site longer than an Apple Watch that couldn't, in a million years, out last a decent watch.

Arguably Apple has a stronger brand, I can't see Samsung or Microsoft getting away with it. But I can see Apple, they have always leveraged a premium product/brand.
