Amazing isn't it. Apple know exactly how to market their stuff. Push it hard in the fashion industry and get it in magazines that tell women what to buy. (Vogue, Cosmopolitan etc)

Samsung and others on the other hand release a watch and........ *tumble weed*

Well, if you say so.

I believe my life has value, and I don't want to waste it thinking about clothing. I don't want to think about what I will wear in the morning. Truly, can you imagine anything more boring than fashion? Professional sports, perhaps. Grown men swatting little balls, while the rest of the world pays money to applaud. But, on the whole, I find fashion even more tedious than sports.

What do you enjoy in life?

A guy who can't even match colors together or pick a shirt the right size is in charge of 'designing' the hardware and UI of Apple products. That tacky, eyesore of suit is a good representation of iOS7/8 and iWatch. We're ****ed.

He's not auditioning to be a fashion model.... say what you want he has been a big part of Apple's success in the last 15 years.

As far as I'm concerned he can wear/eat what ever he wants..... just like anybody else.

Can someone who knows about these sort of things explain Sir Jony's collar(s) to me, please?

I would never buy that iWatch but that is just me...it's way too big and not impressed with how it looks. I am very happy with my own watch and my iPhone, I really have no need to be looking and scrolling 2 devices. I spend enough time as it is on my iPhone, don't need a 2nd device.

That is not Mr Ivy's best picture, I'm sorry but if your going to push the Heath App as big as they are doing, all the executives need to abide by the rules and trim down to Tim's look.

Wow

That is a really low quality photo of some fairly high quality people. It is a shame they wasted those threads on this photo.

The photograph is symbolic.

It represents: Fashion Over Form

Which the iWatch will be.

An "innovation" too far, methinks :(

I love the sense of dread in some of these posts, and the impulse to pronounce a product as failed before a single customer has had it in their hands, much less, worn it on their actual wrist.

Lighten up, people. Until you've used it, your "reviews" and opinions of this are not only meaningless but tell us more about you than the watch.

The new Zoolander?

Oh geez, these people look so silly. Are these really the flagpoles of Apples new design?

Ive needs to scoot his arse back to the US to be held accountable for his bendy iPhone 6+ and all the iOS disasters under his watch.

Genius has and should have it's privileges, but I find to extremely funny, that the Ive and Newsome, designers extraordinaire, dress so poorly their mums' would scold them mercilessly.

WTF? That's a cool t-shirt Newsome is wearing.

It is pretty funny though how Ive's designs grow thinner as he grows thicker.

Au contraire. Even though I dislike digital watches and will not buy the Apple one, I think they are doing EXACTLY the right thing to ensure its success. Watches have always been jewelry first, utility devices second ( unlike phones, computers, mp3 devices, etc..).

In fact this is exactly what Steve Jobs would have done. Someone posted this video on another thread (Steve Jobs on fashion) :

I totally agree with you. I love all these comments being posted by tech nerds being made uncomfortable by the fact that this apple device is being marketed within haute couture circles.:)

Earth to rGiskard, Craig Federighi runs software engineering at Apple, not Ive.

Ok , just a quick report. I finally got in this afternoon after a 15mn wait in line.
The watches were all behind a glass counter, I think almost all the bracelets were shown.
Now , as I said before , i really dislike digital watches , and prefer mine old-fashionned and mechanical. Now that said , the Apple watch is superb. Really. Much better looking in real than on the photos.
Unlike what i said in my previous post, the plastic/aluminium verison doesn't look cheap at all. But it's the metallic one that really stands out IMO. I was honestly suprised by how much elegant and refined it looked. The finish looked absolutely perfect. The metallic bracelets were beautiful. And the screen.. Oh My God... so gorgeous you want to lick it ! And it looked much thinner than on the photos. The photos really don't do it justice.
The gold ones looked..uh... goldy ?? I hate gold watches, so I wouldn't know. And most people were admiring the metallic and plastic ones anyway.

Overall it's really the most luxurious looking product I've ever seen from Apple. It holds its own ( design and finish wise ) very well against known brands in the 500-1000€ category, wich makes the :apple: Watch actually a very good deal.

The apple employees that were there didn't seem to know anything about the prices or the release dates. One of them told me she had the opportunity of trying a model, so it is at least semi-functional. She also said that so far 3 functions didn't need the iPhone next to the watch : the watch ( duh !), the iPod function, and that send-your-heartbeat-to-your-(girl)friend or whatever it's called. That one only needs any wifi around.

I think it really makes all the other smartwatches I 've seen so far looks like cheap toys made for 12y-old kids. Except the Motorola maybe.
One caveat though : Some fashion editor complained that it looked too masculine. I kinda agree. It did looked elegantly masculine, and even the smaller models with pink bracelets still looked somewhat masculine. I don't know how appealing it will look to women, but then again Im' not a woman, so what do I know?

I think the whole smartwatch category is going to be a "hobby" for Apple and everyone else. It's just of too limited usefuleness at this point. I'd be really surprised if the sales ( in the next year or so) are anywhere near the iPod/Pad/Phone sales.
But WITHIN these limited sales, I predict Apple will literally sweep the floor with its competitors.

PS : by the way, some of you in the comments are too fixated on Anna Wintour/Lagerfeld , and may have the wrong idea on what kind of store Colette is. It's not for the Donald Trumps of this world to go buy their gold golf clubs. It's the Temple of Hype in Paris, where the young, edgy, uber-trendy, what-the-f$$$k-this-dont-make-any-sense-at-all rich dudes and dudettes is for.
That's EXACTLY where you want to launch your product , if you want to build a trendy fashionable image. And they did it during Fashion Week. These people (Apple) know exactly what they're doing.

EDIT :
a photo I took of my favorite model. It really looks better in real.

Sir Ive is looking ever-increasingly rotund. Bad posture too, he is developing a hunch and something of a chicken's neck. Shame really, not long ago he appeared as if he were working out (perhaps), more healthy. Now he's made his first million it looks like the emphasis is focused firmly on the gullet.
