Could have ironed his shirt. After swapping it for one that fits him.

iOS7 design and now ... an "ensemble outfit" stolen off a 50's wise-guy ... Ive has got to go ....

Jonny impress us with a better ui design, one that takes longer than 5 minutes to design, otherwise move on

Enough carping about Ive's appearance: He wears his confidence well.

So why is Apple holding this event now? The product is months away.

Testing the waters? Seeing how the target market responds? Repositioning? Anyone have any thoughts on that?

My guess is that they want to gauge reaction and build up interest during a major fashion event. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes some further appearances in London, New York, or LA before the release date is announced.

To me this symbolizes they truly don't know where to market it and that Ive doesn't know how to dress appropriately for this market.

I'd have thought nonconformity would be a better play for an industrial designer. For the European market at least. (Have you seen Phillipe Stark when he's out and about?)

I guess he could superficially dress up, but it would hurt his image more if it wasn't authentically him. The US consumer is more fixated with "image" and less so with authenticity, I'll give you that, but this event is in Paris.

So, when in Rome (or Paris)... :)

Sorry. Didn't realize Paris Fashion Week was going on.

Guess that forced the timing.

I still think Apple Watch is hideous. If I could I'd buy a Moto 360, but I don't want to buy an android phone.

I like the look of the Moto 360 but like all of these smart watches it's too thick. These should be pretty cool in a few years when the focus on getting them thinner starts paying off.

The inter-observational peacock party featuring an undeveloped object.

Not sure if you got the memo, but it's supposed to be released in early 2015. Probably as late as February or March. Still plenty of time to work on it, plus they barely showed anything at the event. There'll probably be a separate event later where they announce more features.

too much "fashion" for me. I take 2 minutes to get dressed. myb its an urban american thing. we dont get to fancy here in the urbana. When i traveled across seas everyone was sharp.

I noticed this when I was in Canada (which I'll state specifically is NOT overseas for me). Felt like I was at a 24/7 fashion show. It was nice though, everyone dressed so well.

I really hope the iWatch screen isn't as bad as that photo makes it out to be. It looks seriously washed out and hardly worth the +1000$ price tag. And that's looking beyond the general blurriness of the photo itself.

It seems to me like it's just a bad/out-of-focus photograph. Don't worry, I'm fairly certain that Apple will not release a WATCH with a display that isn't remarkable.

The WATCH features an AMOLED screen, which is probably why most of the UI is dark-themed. To display black, AMOLED screens actually turn off individual pixels. Therefore, when an AMOLED is dominated by blacks, less pixels will be turned on and more battery life will be preserved.

Vogue UK is posting :apple:Watch photos on its instagram and as they're posting them followers are commenting that they want/need the Watch now. I think Apple knows what it's doing. :)

A guy who can't even match colors together or pick a shirt the right size is in charge of 'designing' the hardware and UI of Apple products. That tacky, eyesore of suit is a good representation of iOS7/8 and iWatch. We're ****ed.

I'm at Colette right now. There's a long line just to get in and see the display. Not sure i have the patience to stick around, but based on the models i've see from outdide, the plastic one looks... plastic and a bit cheap, but the metal one is awesome, the bracelet looks very high quality, on par with many premium traditional watches. It looks better than on many photos pn the web. Will upload some shots later if i get in..

The plastic one is made of aluminium. :)

the watch is not at all like i thought it would be, even with various customizations. that picture does it no justice either. any speculation on how apple could have made it thinner but didn't so it could get incrementally thinner every year? who'm i kidding, i'm sure there's some out there..

----------

I am as big as an Apple fan as they come, but this picture represents why so many people hate Apple (like many of my Samsung Galaxy loving friends).

It's not the products that they hate, it's the arrogance about how they present them, and this is a perfect example of that. Rich hob-snobbing fashion industry and high and mighty types flaunting a piece of jewelry as if it's the worlds greatest designed object. I mean LOOK AT THEM! It comes off very distasteful, especially for people who can't afford one (cue again many Android users).

This post may sound very anti-Apple, but it's not. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of a non-fan and how they may view something like this.

Apple is marketing to a very specific type of customer, and that's OK. But when it gets to the point when you start to alienate the general public, it can sometimes do more harm than good.

Haha. If you can't afford a $350 watch and an iPhone, I suppose you are a sour person regardless.

I noticed this when I was in Canada (which I'll state specifically is NOT overseas for me). Felt like I was at a 24/7 fashion show. It was nice though, everyone dressed so well.

that's the universally understood canadian conundrum: freeze your goddam ass off in a well-serviced residency of order and cleanliness..? personally, i'll stick to (dirty) east coast winters, they're quite cold enough.

Clearly we're living in a different age now but that picture of Ive with Anna Wintour (Editor of Vogue) & Karl Lagerfeld (Creative Director for Chanel) shows exactly how this trinket is being marketed.

Not impressed.

However, if it is to win over young, affluent people, Apple need to climb into bed with these fashion individuals (who have incredible influence on persuading their readers what is 'cool').

With respect, I highly doubt "young, affluent people" are paying attention to zombies like Wintour and Lagerfeld.
