Ah, the indoor sunglasses sign! Let's just say that it's a pretty good indicator of a high-maintenance individual, to put it tactfully (anecdotal evidence I've observed as a psychologist).

One of my favorite quotes....Larry David on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" - "Two kinds of people wear sunglasses indoors - blind people and a$$holes"

He is desperately trying to get a side-job a Vogue cover model ;)

Oh, I can see it already: Karl Lagerfeld designs a new fashion line for obese industrial designers, exclusive pictures are soon to be revealed in a Vogue issue, pending Ms. Vintour's approval. :D

It is sad that Ive has definitely gained a lot of weight in the last year. I wonder if he's got a health issue or if he's got too much to do at Apple since he's in charge of software design now. Stress can cause all kinds of problems.

Could have ironed his shirt. After swapping it for one that fits him.

Haha that was exactly my thought. It you're going to the fashion week, at least try to look and pretend to be stylish. And go to the gym Jony!

clearly the hipsters of our time

Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld... the forerunners of the bright digital future of tomorrow... of course... like Jeanne d'Arc is the role model for todays women ;):p

and Jony, such a sharp designer... but apparently good electronic design does not go well with having a clothing style

couldn't Karl show him the ropes?!

Apparently Anna Wintour got a special demo.

I am as big as an Apple fan as they come, but this picture represents why so many people hate Apple (like many of my Samsung Galaxy loving friends).

It's not the products that they hate, it's the arrogance about how they present them, and this is a perfect example of that. Rich hob-snobbing fashion industry and high and mighty types flaunting a piece of jewelry as if it's the worlds greatest designed object. I mean LOOK AT THEM! It comes off very distasteful, especially for people who can't afford one (cue again many Android users).

This post may sound very anti-Apple, but it's not. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of a non-fan and how they may view something like this.

Apple is marketing to a very specific type of customer, and that's OK. But when it gets to the point when you start to alienate the general public, it can sometimes do more harm than good.

Enough carping about Ive's appearance: He wears his confidence well.

So why is Apple holding this event now? The product is months away.

Testing the waters? Seeing how the target market responds? Repositioning? Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Amazing isn't it. Apple know exactly how to market their stuff. Push it hard in the fashion industry and get it in magazines that tell women what to buy. (Vogue, Cosmopolitan etc)

Samsung and others on the other hand release a watch and........ *tumble weed*

Yes, it is pretty amazing - with near constant bad press at the minute with their just-launched devices and their associated software and hardware issues (and still-unavailable features) Apple execs are still more interested in being seen with fashion ponces to promote an as-yet non-existent product.

I know these guys aren't working on these things directly but it just seems more and more that they care little about existing users and more about getting the next sale. Product quality, polish and support looks to be sliding, to me at least.

My best hope is that the :apple: Watch will be like the first iPhone, with enough promise that it will quickly develop new features and a smaller form so more people find them useful. I'll definitely sit out this first generation.

My idea as well. I'm going to wait at least a year or two and aiming somewhat on the iWatch 3 or 4. I'm interested when:

- it runs several days, not just 1
- newer models are much thinner, I think this iWatch 1 is way to thick
- the watch will be less independent for usage with the iphone
- it has gps on board
- it will be waterproof, yes, I do want to swim with it.

Until then it's to much relying on the iPhone to enable specific features and is not independent enough. It's also simply not good looking enough, to thick and to techno (yes, even with the wheel) and way way to expensive for what you get for it in return.

Phil Collins called, he wants the outfit from his appearance on Miami vice returned #

Au contraire. Even though I dislike digital watches and will not buy the Apple one, I think they are doing EXACTLY the right thing to ensure its success. Watches have always been jewelry first, utility devices second ( unlike phones, computers, mp3 devices, etc..).

In fact this is exactly what Steve Jobs would have done. Someone posted this video on another thread (Steve Jobs on fashion) :

Totally agree.

This thread reminds me of Angela Ahrendts threads where most of the comments are snide remarks about her looks.

I'm at Colette right now. There's a long line just to get in and see the display. Not sure i have the patience to stick around, but based on the models i've see from outdide, the plastic one looks... plastic and a bit cheap, but the metal one is awesome, the bracelet looks very high quality, on par with many premium traditional watches. It looks better than on many photos pn the web. Will upload some shots later if i get in..

I still think Apple Watch is hideous. If I could I'd buy a Moto 360, but I don't want to buy an android phone.

It's a one day event attended by a couple Apple employees. I doubt it's taking up a lot of anyone's time. Were you upset that Cook was in NYC the other week to talk about climate change? Should he have been back in Cupertino cracking the whip?

Genius has and should have it's privileges, but I find to extremely funny, that the Ive and Newsome, designers extraordinaire, dress so poorly their mums' would scold them mercilessly.

To me this symbolizes they truly don't know where to market it and that Ive doesn't know how to dress appropriately for this market.

I can see the apple watch become reborn apples first real failure
