Can't wait. Apple Watch Series 9 is gonna be 'HUGE'!

Looking forward to seeing the available case sizes shown in actual size comparison. More important, what does the added case size do to the text size? Increases it, I hope. My primary use is for running and gym where I don't wear my glasses, so the bigger the text size the better. I am thin and have small wrists. A large size case will look too big but why should I care about that? No reason comes to mind.

I honestly think the rumors were all correct and spot on and we are just 1 year ahead when it comes to the rumors. Apple is already working on iPhone 15. I also believe we may see a bronze or matte black iPhone this year instead of the purple.
Pretty sure the 41/45mm watches will look identical to the S7. The 47mm will be the only watch with a new design

I'm expecting to be disappointed by battery life. It needs to at least double to be competitive with a Garmin Venu, and there's no chance it will come close to matching a Fenix watch... unless they add the pogo pins like the iPad Pro (and original Apple watch), and then release a battery filled watch band. That would be a really nice surprise.
Maybe they are not competing with them because I run and bike all the time often with headphones and never run out of battery. So maybe they are just in a different market that works for me but not you who needs better battery

I love Apple, but a “Pro” watch is just an excuse to charge more for features they were previously getting on updates to the regular Apple Watch. It’s just business. So i understand, but that’s what it is. A sneaky way for Apple to raise the price. Most people weren’t buying the previous premium watches made from higher end materials. But many will now pay up for a “Pro” watch that has features lower end watches have. Like more newer health sensors etc. i just think this is a sneaky way to get people to pay more than just raising the prices on the regular Apple Watch.

The reason I haven't bought an Apple watch this far, girly thin wrists.
Looks a lot better with a round, small enough, watch on me.
Polar do watches that are perfect for me. So I guess my next will come from them too.

Had hoped Apple would go in different directions with their watches. For women with thinner wrists, too. Not just big, bigger and huge quadrant watches.
☹️Apple

Kind of interesting if this ends up paralleling the iPhone's history that well. With the launch of the iPhone 8, Apple also released the iPhone X which was a higher-end peak at the future of the iPhone lineup. Looks like they're going to do the same exact thing with the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch X / Pro / whatever it's called.

It will be a heck of a surprise when the watchband battery takes the wrong kind of hit and blows your hand off at the wrist. 💥
And next year Apple will introduce the Apple Hand: attaches where your watch used to, haptic feedback, works with the new Apple Glasses and upcoming AirPods Ear for a truly immersive AR and VR experience. Apple Foot, with step measurements, rumored 2024. EyePods expected to replace Apple Glasses by 2030.

Will this ‘Pro’ watch support stand-alone (prepaid) cellular plans so that it doesn’t need to be tethered to an iPhone when travelling internationally?
This is a must, post paid plans are too expensive for it being just me but I can't connect my watch to LTE doing prepaid. First world issues are eating me up!

Everyone who is saying 44mm is a bigger watch. People said the exact same thing about iPhone Pro Max models. “The screen is too big” In the end, the majority of the people became fans of the Pro models. It’s going to be the same with the Apple Watch. Let’s see what Apple has to offer 🗣
Except a watch has to actually fit your wrist to be comfortable and to not look absurd. Large phones only have to fit in your hands, pockets or purse/fanny pack/wherever you store it, so it's really not as much of an issue.

I'm sure the 47mm screen size will be nice to look at, but watches have been around since looooong before Apple started making them, and watches are are too large just don't work on small wrists. A popular reference like a Submariner has a 47mm lug-to-lug, so a 47mm case Apple watch will fit some people, mostly men, but considering that the 45mm is already too large for most women and some men, 47mm is going to fit far fewer.

I can only guess that the reason they are only offering the "Pro" in 47mm is due to being unable to make it work in a smaller package, like someone else suggested, otherwise it's an odd choice.

What is the point of this flat display/flat sides other than it’s just different than what we have now?

More rugged in theory. The glass could be surrounded by a metal bezel and protected against side impacts that the raised and rounded glass can be susceptible to now. Could even make the metal bezel slightly higher than the glass to give the front more protection. Also a tiny bit more interior volume.

Good for you. Maybe other people exist.
We agree 100%. I was saying maybe the watch fills a different market than they were looking for. It is not a good option for other but there are other watches that work better for them but not for me. Given technology tradeoffs it would be surprising if one device worked for everyone.
