I’ll purchase 12 of these so I can have a fresh battery each month.
While I see the hot take here - I have to say that just this week my S5 battery went to 80% wear. That's pretty good for an almost three year old watch that's been used all the time, I only take it off to charge and shower. I use it with cellular on it's own while streaming music etc. I usually wear the battery down to 20% every day.

It still lasts a full day as long as I top it up to full in the morning. I'll do the battery service soon. I think I will upgrade S

Why you should need a fresh battery every month? You'll need one after two or three years I'd say, which is pretty ok I think.

sounds absolutely terrible. 47mm? already for a large chunk of people the 45mm is too large. guess the days of being able to purchase a reasonably sized titanium apple watch will be over. 47mm is hilariously large even by modern watch standards
For sport watches it is not… some brands even have 51mm models available

Have they finally figured out how to prevent scratches on the screen? Between hiking and rock climbing, the screen on the current versions doesn't hold up well.

Except a watch has to actually fit your wrist to be comfortable and to not look absurd. Large phones only have to fit in your hands, pockets or purse/fanny pack/wherever you store it, so it's really not as much of an issue.

I'm sure the 47mm screen size will be nice to look at, but watches have been around since looooong before Apple started making them, and watches are are too large just don't work on small wrists. A popular reference like a Submariner has a 47mm lug-to-lug, so a 47mm case Apple watch will fit some people, mostly men, but considering that the 45mm is already too large for most women and some men, 47mm is going to fit far fewer.

I can only guess that the reason they are only offering the "Pro" in 47mm is due to being unable to make it work in a smaller package, like someone else suggested, otherwise it's an odd choice.
I agree with you. Valid points!

People said the exact same thing about Pro Max or Max models. “the phones are too big”, “it won’t fit the Jean pockets”, “it’s a big phone holding down to the ear” and so on… years later it is the most popular model.

Rest assured, This 47mm Apple Watch will sell out quickly and will be back ordered instantly.

I wear a Garmin now. They are 47mm and then some (and it’s not too big - especially if you want to capture some of the Garmin users and have a shot at extra battery life).

If you look at the 45’s now, it probably won’t be much larger on the wrist. 2mm can easily be gained by flattening the display and edges, without changing the overall footprint, while also gaining a small battery increase.

Everyone who is saying 44mm is a bigger watch. People said the exact same thing about iPhone Pro Max models. “The screen is too big” In the end, the majority of the people became fans of the Pro models. It’s going to be the same with the Apple Watch. Let’s see what Apple has to offer 🗣
Also people are acting like big watches are not already a thing. There are a lot of big watches and people wear them without an issue.
