Doesn't bother me, I don't own any Samsung products.
I'm just continuously curious about this odd fascination some Apple fans here have with constantly having to bring Samsung up in conversation.
For a company that's generally disliked here, people sure can't stop themselves from talking about them.
I am sure it is the same on Samsung forums. Every apple forum here is littered with bashing and you don't have to be a genius to guess who they are and they usually come out when you mention something bad about samsung.
They want and expect some people to buy the Edition. It looks geared toward stores in China and financial centers, though. An investment banker who just got a $250,000 bonus could easily get the rose gold with gray leather band for his girlfriend and not think anything of it.
I do kind of wonder how cheap those 1st gen gold Apple Watches will go for on Ebay after 2-3 years when they become obsolete and aren't eligible for OS upgrades anymore.

This indeed is a great idea, I will definitely do this. Because my plan was to order two on the 10th.
It depends. If the Watch really takes off and the first Editions are rare, it could hold a lot of its value. If the entire Apple Watch line is a complete flop, it might increase in value (look at the Apple I or Lisa). Most likely, with about $1200 of gold in it, I could see it going for $1500-$2000 in a few years, more or less if the price of gold changes much.

Here's the solution: go to the Apple Store on 4/10, try on a few watches; go home and pre-order one for you and one for your fiancee to be delivered to your home. On 4/24 surprise her and reap big rewards!

Probably fives time as much as any other smartwatch maker would get for the same equivalent product. Have they did a complete breakdown on the amount of gold in the watch and maybe band? I haven't seen a total cost yet.
One wonders if it would just be worth having the gold melted down by that point, especially if the actual watch part of it isn't useful anymore.

My plan was to pre-order and simply pick them up on the way home. I don't even need to try them on,I know the exact ones I want. I won't be home for a delivery on 4/24/15. I'll just give the money to a friend and him them order for pickup then I'll get it from him.
Exactly. There's probably enough gold in the Watch Edition to make a nice ring or two.
When you get the tracking number from FedEx. Call them. Tell them not to deliver. Go to the FedEx building after work and pick them up.

Or give the money to a friend and have him order the other one for you. Just have him go with you and pick them up at the same time. I won't be home for a home delivery,so that's my plan.
I could trade it in for about 20 brand new S6 Edge's then the price really takes a dive 6 months later.
This news article is indicating that you apparently just don't walk in a pick up your watches, you make and an appointment to get a watch and you can only pick up one.
Oh, I thought that was for people buying at the store - not picking up an order made online. Could be wrong.

Based on that logic, no one would ever buy alcohol or a car.
I'm pretty sure that most people will not have a problem with verifying that they were the person who reserved an Apple Watch, so that when they get to the Apple Store it won't have been sold to an imposter.
But if you do have a problem identifying yourself, go online and buy it, and it will arrive on the 24th at your home. Then all you'll have to do is open the door.
Are you really that worried though? The moment you sync the device with your iPhone, Apple will know all kinds of stuff about you. After all both your phone and your watch will have a unique serial number tied to your iTunes account. So Apple will know who you are, where you live, and where you bought your watch and phone.
Don't like that? Buy a mechanical watch from a store and pay with cash.
