Umm, why can't you set up a separate pick-up time for her. It would still be a surprise when you take her to the Apple store. They never mention that you can't pay for it, just that she would have to be there to pick it up.

----------

I doubt that would slow down scalpers. Just means they'll have to make multiple appointments over a longer period. It doesn't say that you can only ever get one, just that you can only get one at a time.

The plan was to get pick them both up on my way home and surprise her at my place. Yes,I could take her to the store. Most likely I'll just have my friend order hers for me.

It doesn't stop them at all. That's why you see them in line with 10 other "family members" all buying two each. This might slow them down, but not stop by any means. This however does make things more difficult for me. I was planning on surprising my fiancée with one as a wedding gift. Now I'll have to have her or a friend purchase it. ....just another hurdle I suppose.

Seatbelts don't always save lives so you shouldn't wear yours. And don't use a fire alarm—they don't save lives 100% of the time, either.

Obviously they won't stop all scalpers but a little effort goes a long way in this case. Be reasonable.

All money and style and battery arguments aside...I just don't see the point of the Apple Watch.

No, but you should probably tell us your point instead of repeating his comment ad nauseam.

A lot of people don't feel they need a smartwatch because they already have a smartphone in their pocket.

What would you say to convince them otherwise?

If I have to explain then you simply didn't get it, that's on you.

One could argue whether anyone "needs" any of these devices, but they all have sold enough to make Apple the biggest corporation on the planet.

So basically, you're not actually saying anything.

Glad we got that sorted out.

Sorry for not being clear, I am saying that I couldn't care less whether or not a troll wants to whine about my post because he doesn't subscribe to my POV. That is what I said, that is what I'm saying. Need a sign?

My my my, such a temper for a newbie. Hitting the snark right out of the gate, I see.

4/10 for the rant. You can do better.

Over 1000 Apple Watch apps have already been submitted in the first four days since Apple opened up their site for apps.

Now we wait for people to say the apps are horrible.

I was surprised to read that many of the sensor features that were left out are actually in the watch already and will eventually be opened up - including body temperature. No need for a second gen watch to add that hardware. It's in there and waiting to be opened. Though we know changes always come.

Planned on ordering 2 (me and wife) and picking them up in store that evening after work. Now it looks like I'll have to order 2 for home delivery and take a sick day to be there.

Thanks Apple.

Supply is so short they are selling them half off to employees.

You can sign for them in advance or pick them up at UPS.

As for the employee discount, they clearly want their own staff to buy them early and wear them a lot.

I think FedEx will let you change where to deliver? Unless I am mistaken? At least I thought they used FedEx as the primary?

Also, I don't get the statement that supply is so low they are giving to employees for half price. Have they posted how many are available or was their some rumors of possible constraint?

Can anyone explain to me the reasoning behind people who are planning on not buying one yet are complaining about this?

I think so, but it might add an extra day to the process (which means Monday instead of Friday).

It's rumors. As for the employee discount, I'm sure they want their employees to be "ambassadors" of the product. Even with 100% uptake we're talking about 100,000.

Looking to make people mad or angry so that you post back to them I suppose. Need to feel important.

Oh no,not you. I recently bought a new tv,should I return that and think about the starving kids? I booked a trip to maui.... Should I feel guilty? I also bought two iPhones a few months back. Maybe I should return those and donate? Shut up.
Tell us more please... brag more... please !!!!!

Yea I don't get that part either. I don't know how much is costs to make. Wouldn't they give a bigger discount to the gold then for employees?

My company gives employees nice discounts on our products below cost. Lots of free stuff as well.

It's a great question, it's one thing to disagree with it and it's another to taunt those for buying it, there's definitely a level of disdain and resentment for some people. Who knows, maybe it will flop, it's still no reason to be dicks to those buying them.

Apple this is so stupid. You are making it difficult for me to hand over close to 2k for a watch for my wife and I. I still will mind you, but you're making it difficult.

...meanwhile, children around the world starve to death.

Really? Couldn't you argue that about ANYTHING? Do we really need TVs, or to eat out, or to take vacations, or drive anything other than the most basic car?

You can't just pick out this one product at will and blame childhood hunger and starvation on it.

If no one on the planet bought an Apple Watch, do you believe there would be any change in charitable donations?

You can take your wife with you to pick them up :p

Agreed, I get the idea behind preventing scalpers but what a drag. Both my wife and I are going to order separately at midnight.

Just because some of us are not planning to purchase the product doesn't mean we can't have an opinion about Apple inconveniencing legit customers.

We're all on the same team, you know.

Let me help you:

1) On the 10th, pick up your iPad and open the Apple Store icon.
2) Order a watch for you and your wife.
3) On the 24th the UPS guy will bring them to your door.

You then have however many weeks Apple allows to exchange them if you don't like it in person.

How is this complicated or difficult?

I think he means that they work during the day and want to pickup.
