How about I don't care? No rounded Apple Watch, No buy. Easy and simple. It's me who's going to pay for it. If Apple Engineers can't figure out how to make a proper rounded Apple Watch, that's their problem.

There's the Samsung gear S3 Frontier LTE version available for US. Shall see if there's an upcoming S4 LTE available for EU in the future. If that happens and Apple still stubbornly stays with the damn square design, well, ok, Samsung Gear S4 LTE will be for me.

Some design choices are simply put, not negotiable for me. End of story.

The Gear S3 Frontier LTE is amazing and has everything you would want on a smartwatch plus superior navigation menu's as well.

I just purchased the off brand white “Nike” band for my my Nike aws2 from amazon. Visually it’s nearly identical and functionality wise it’s 100% identical, at least for my “needs”, but it does seem slightly flimsier.

Is it worth it to have spent and extra $20-$30 just to have the Nike branding, that you can’t see, and slightly tougher feeling band? Not to me lol.

As long as it feels good on your wrist that’s what matters :)

Give me a round option and I will buy. Just do the usual and most sincerely flatter a Dieter Rams design.

I totally agree with you.
I have the series 3 and it love the functions, but the square form of the watch is something that I don't like. I want a rounded Apple Watch as many others I have spoken with. Many say that they don't get an AW just because the quadrant form is ugly.

SO for now the problem is yours ... no round Apple Watch and you're asking for one on a non-official apple forum and thread. There are many options on the other side ... happy hunting yet to get the most out of a WearOS watch you should be using an Android smartphone. The choices are yours to make of course.

I’ve heard the aw3 can last up to 3 days.

In general the longer the battery life the better.

If I didn’t find a deal on my aw2, with no workouts the battery can last about 2 days, I’d be perfectly fine with a Fitbit hr charge that lasts for 5 days and a gshock tbh.

How is it better if you top it 20m a day and that's enough. How is it better to set yourself on a 4 or 7 day routine and then 3-4h on the charger, or overnight?

As soon as most people can top thecharge it within 30 min, and go off, any improvement will not be felt (will people be happyer if it's 10m to charge each day instead of 20m?).

For very heavy user, which are not the majority, say you train 4h per day listening to music, indeed better battery.

If they decide to sell the Watch totally independently of the phone, then of course they'll need a lot more battery life (cause essentially it will have the same function as a smartphone).

No offense but I don't completely understand your reply.

One specific feature or functionality of the AW that I do not feel comfortable using is tracking my sleep. That would require me to keep it on my wrist and NOT charge it overnight. Longer battery life would provide some peace of mind when I don't charge it overnight for a few days. I can wear a fitbit charge for 4+ days without charging and track my sleep without worrying if the battery is going to die.

For me personally, I am still programmed to NOT have to charge my watch even if it is a "small computer". The less I have to worry about ANOTHER device being charged the better.

The point is, I think, that charging overnight is unnecessary — mainly because the battery is so small, and even though inductive charging isn’t speedy, it’s still fast enough to juice it up.

It’s more convenient to put the charger where I sit down and don’t need the watch’s functions, so I keep mine at my couch. Some people take off their traditional watches when they’re typing, so a charger on the computer desk would be handy, too.

So, then, the watch is always charged up for tracking my sleep and, maybe more importantly, serving as my alarm clock and tapping my wrist in the morning.

I want what I want. If Apple can't deliver on that, no problem, there's other options.
At the end of the day, I do whatever I want with my money and I put it wherever I want. If Apple is unable to convince me on their products, that's on :apple:. ;)
I won't get tied up up to the Apple ecosystem and compromise on subpar design choices (MacBook Pro emoji bar, butterfly keyboard stuck on dust issues, the notch, ...). Unacceptable.

I like, or more precisely, used to like Apple products, in general, when Steve was around.

EDIT: I'm going to leave this, just for you, as a reminder of what Apple was, once upon a time.

Perfect. I'd also increase the physical size of the watch to 44mm (or even 46mm). One of my main gripes beside the tad too tiny screen of the 42mm version is also that it looks small on my wrist.

I’m sorry, are you saying the Watch and iPhone X are junk?

The butterfly keyboard is problematic indeed. The other examples are just an old man yelling at a cloud.

From a rather purist point of view, the Apple Watch gets short on delivery and the square design is unappealing. Does not provide the "timeless" vibe as well as a spherical design. Apple can try to fight that, sure, good luck. Maybe in 10y or so the square design will be broadly taken by all watchmakers... or not. ;)

The notch on the iPhone X is simply put, a junk design compromise. The technology is not there yet to put cameras under the screen. The compromise with the notch is unacceptable. That design choice should have been killed.

The butterfly design was a poor design choice that's going to bit buyers and probably Apple as these machines gain age and Apple Care runs out. Just a keyboard replacement runs like 700 USD? Junk, pure and steamy junk.
Same goes for emoji bar: "cool" for a couple of weeks, not so "cool" after a while. Just a gimmick. Should have been killed.

It's actually very funny when on the video I shared there's Steve saying [...]there are thresholds we can't cross[...] and Tim goes on scratching his head like... the hell is Steve talking about?

The thing is, I used to hold Apple on higher standards and as such, I expect and demand from Apple the very best.

You can see me as an old man yelling at clouds though. If that makes you happy, so be it. :D I'm just an old Apple fan remembering times of yore, when Apple was the very best, no compromises.

For my use, since I'm still used to years of not having to worry about charging my watch, whatever apple can do to mimic that UX I'm all for.

Right, and I know what you’re getting at (I’ve got everything from radio-synced solar-charged quartz watches to a 78-year-old hand-wound Bulova) —

but the technology to do what you’re asking isn’t there for anybody yet, let alone Apple.

Bigger case, bigger screen, bigger battery, more sensors. Yes please! 52 mm case would be nice for me. Round option.. nah

After submitting and reading other comments in this thread I just realized something.

1. Better battery life doesn’t mean a bigger battery.

2. Let’s not forget Apple’s meaning of totally redesign folks: iPhone 7, iPhone 8.

Seriously?

The “timeless” vibe you claim of a spherical watch design is due to it never changing in over 200yrs (sundial, pocket watch to watch). Just cause it’s never changed through lack of innovation doesn’t mean it’s timeless or iconic.

It’s not about the watch face design itself that’s important it’s about the content it shows and the ability to interact with the design! That is the key. Try touch on any Google wear watch for comparison and you’ll see just how poor navigation is in comparison.

I’ll say this again: it’s about content and thus no content should be limited or reduced nor wasted available space on the display due to limiting spherical UI design.

Did anyone notice that sweet incredible design of the rumoured Apple Watch momnths before the Apple Watch was announced? The one where it was more of a Fossil notification watch?! That watch never implemented the full spherical display for a UI because of the constraints and limitations of doing so.

This is so obvious yet those asguing against it haven’t noticed. I honestly feel this is like American muscle car owners clamouring for spherical tachometer displays vs digital displays shown in Audi R8 V10, 2019 VW Golf R, Audi TTRS, Lamborghini, McLaren 720, etc etc. Even the Corvette switched over 3 generations ago (C5), but the Mustang and Camero still haven’t changed to fully digital. Lol. These watches are not analog in any way so why try to force that design mythos onto them??
[doublepost=1522599051][/doublepost]
Just because the screen will be larger doesn't mean that the watch will be larger, so you probably made a good decision, especially as the new watch probably won't come out for another 6 months.

A 15% larger screen would only be about 2mm wider and taller, so they could easily just reduce the bezels by 1mm on each side instead of using a larger case. The bezels are quite large at the moment (almost 4mm) so, if this rumour is true, then I think they are more likely to reduce them than to increase the size of the case by 2mm and keep the large bezels.

Yet reducing the bezels would not allow for a larger capacity battery to be installed.

Excuses and more excuses.

So, Apple Engineers are not good enough, or were not pushed hard enough, to figure a proper way to get a spherical watch with a functional user interface. So, they compromised and made instead a square watch. :)

Ok. Buy that compromise of an AW design if that makes you happy. I won't be buying the AW as long as it's square.

:apple: will have to try harder to get customers like me on board again. ;)

by time air power is out apple will have to change the marketing on air power working with series 3 and 4

Except I doubt it was a compromise. They chose to make it square because it fit what they were going for. You’re saying it should be circle because that’s what watches are like, assuming this isn’t just called a watch while mainly being a little computer on your wrist.

Being a watch is nowhere near the primary function.
