Do they really need to launch a new series every year? Why not wait 2 or 3 years until they have gathered a good deal of innovative technologies? This let’s make a chip 10% faster and screen 20% larger and release a new watch mindset is Boring...

Because it's not always the same people buying the watch and some people want the latest tech in their new watch.
Once the whole thing is mature in 10 years, you'd get your wish.

When something works, you slowly evolve it, once and a while introducing revolutionary stuff, that's what they did with the Iphone.

By doing what they do they also keep the competition completely out of their market. They don't even leave them a chance to be competititive.

They also use previous year models as lower tiers in their range which means more and more people can buy them.

Like others have mentioned; a redesign could be good. But they need to make sure that the bands we use now work with the redesign. I have seven different bands now. I'm a watch wearer and like wearing different watches.

Series 0 was a no-go for me. Wore it for a brief while and stopped. There just weren't a lot of 3rd party bands out at the time and Apples options were limited and expensive. So I went back to my array of non-smart watches. Now that I have a series 3 there are tons of 3rd party bands out there and great ones too. All kinds of styles. I have the series 3 nike version and I have bought two other bands from a 3rd party website that look just like the nike ones but in different colors. I cannot tell them apart from the apple version.

So for me, the bands are very important. It allows me to mix up the style of the watch for my days (work, conference, home, exercise, etc.). I would not upgrade if I lose all of the bands in the process.

IMO the Apple Watch could easily be a little larger without looking obnoxious and gaudy (especially if the form factor was round). It’s current 42mm square design is already narrower than most modest designer watches I’ve seen. To each their own I guess... but keep in mind, there are very practical advantages to increased size in terms of readability/usability and battery life. Impressing ladies with one’s smart watch might not be the main design focus of a gadget company.

I’ve also included an image of a Rolex Submariner compared to a 42 mm AW. The Rolex appears larger and wider despite being listed as a 40mm Watch. And the Submariner is not a large watch at all, definitely one of the smaller less flashy Rolex options. Apple certainly has some wiggle room on size without looking like a chunky Samsung S3 :)

Nice comparison. The mechanical watch benefits from shape and symmetry putting its extra width in the middle of the wrist. The Apple watch's crown is not centred. That could easily be changed, and the single button could be replaced with two smaller ones either side. On the other hand the digital crown is intended to be used far more frequently than a mechanical one so a central placement may be less convenient. Perhaps we need a digital bezel, like a cross between the old iPod scroll wheel and the MacBook touch bar.

No, got a link? I’m curious.

I’ll try and find one

Basically, when the watch was announced (not launched), the actual screen was larger and the bezels smaller. When the launch got closer the actual display area had mysteriously shrunk and Apple went back and updated their videos to show the smaller display area. There was lots of press about it at the time.

Love it

This is the only way I would want a bigger display. The watch is big and thick enough as it is. My hope is that they make the silicone inside smaller and/or more efficient, which gives more battery capacity. I don't think any new health sensors would fit right now, so I just expect improvements on the existing ones.

I hope this is true because these are the things that have been on my wish list for the Apple Watch (larger display with less bezel, better battery life, maybe a little thinner?). I've wanted one but have been holding off, this could be the one that finally gets me to bite.

I think the Apple Watch is the one Apple product that could stand to be a little thinner, provided there's no impact to battery life.
Don’t tell Jony Ive. He might remove the hands of the clock as well in a coming update.

Non-invasive blood glucose monitoring is the game changer. When Apple has that, game over for all other wearables until they follow suit.
I’m afraid Apple won’t be there first. It will take them a couple of years after the competition have it. But hey... Apple isn’t there to be first or after selling the most... they’re targeting the ‘BEST’ according to our visionary leader T. Cook.

I still don't have an Apple Watch. Every year I say I'm going to get the Apple Watch and another year goes by and I don't get it. Longer battery just might entice me unless the price goes up again.

How does it feel to able to speak for all women everywhere? That's a heavy burden.
Fair enough, I hate when people generalize that way, too. *I* don't want a big-azz watch that makes me look like a douchey guy trying too hard to impress. Another reason I don't want the watch to get bigger is because I already keep accidentally hitting the button when I flex my wrist and my wrist isn't large or fat.

P.S. Are YOU a woman or are you presuming to admonish me on behalf of ALL women which, IMO, is a bigger sin. You know how much we women LOVE mansplainers (And I feel quite comfortable speaking for all women in this instance ;) )

Pretty sure everyone wanting a round Apple Watch is going to be disappointed.
Watches were round for mechanical reasons. TVs, monitors, phones, tablets etc all tend not to be round because it’s not very good for displaying data which is what the Apple Watch is for.
