FINALLY new health features.

I stuck with a Series 6 because no new health features were introduced for men in more recent models.
I actually think the upcoming “Vitals” app in WatchOS 11 will utilize all the sensors in Watch to give you a “health score”, including wrist temperature.

Not that it quantifies it as a score. But it seems to try to notify you when one or several measurements are outside your normal ranges, like if you were getting sick.

“Vitals” has me convinced Apple will introduce one or more new health sensors, or at least introduce a new upgraded version of some of the “old” ones.

Probably Siri with AI will be able to look at Vitals and sum it up in a phrase or give you insight if you prompt it.

Only people with more money than brains updates one generation to the next. How about compare to series 6/7/8 as well, since that is where most people will be updating from?

I have series 4, but Ultra seems to have just not enough bands. The ideal thing would be a regular watch with all Ultra features, and not as bulky.

Maybe I read it wrong but the article seems to cast doubt on new sensors being in the 10 and that they’ll be delayed for a future model.
I know I read that part too, but I'm hopeful. It's the 10th anniversary.
I think they'd be better off revealing it and releasing it in November if needed.
They need to hit a home run this year or go home.

If you are considering buying an Apple Watch, this article and any related and linked buyers guides are unfortunately not going to help you gain any sort of information towards that decision. This really covered so little and as others have said any article about the next gen should reference not only the prior outgoing gen as very few users upgrade a watch annually.

Wow, i am speechless. One of the worst Apple watch updates ever. I am still on my AW 4 and will be for a long time. I think Apple stopped innovation since Covid. Most of their workers are chilling in home office.
I currently have S4 SS 44mm. Prior to that I had S2 SS 42mm. The upgrade from S2 to S4 was very significant and hence I was able to justify it. Now I feel that going from S4 to S9 is less of an upgrade than when going from S2 to S4.
No matter what S10 offers, I have no desire to upgrade. I use my watch for daily cycling / walk workouts and Apple Pay. I dont use it for anything else, so I dont mind skipping another generation which most likely will be another disappointment.
Yeah I'm still on a 4 as well and have never seen an essential feature update that drew me to a get a newer model. I probably wouldn't be looking at the 10 if it weren't for the discontinued support for the 4 (well played, Apple...sigh).

I'm an S4 user too. It has been one of the best devices I've ever owned and an incredible value.

But this is it for me. It's time to upgrade. There have been numerous meaningful updates since then.

That’s my biggest request. Better battery life. When doing workouts, navigation, it needs to charge in the evening. Can’t get a full day on battery.

How will those health features work when it needs to get charged during nighttime?

How come other brands are able to get at least 48 hours on battery life while delivering the same options if not more? Fitbit, Garmin
I charge my Ultra 1 during my shower and dinner at night. All I need is 30-45 minutes and I have a full battery in time to track my sleep and blood oxygen levels.

My Apple Watch Ultra 1 still has amazing battery life and I don't want to give up the blood oxygen feature that still works on it. No upgrade for me.
This is why I haven’t given mine up. If I would’ve known the patent ban was coming I would’ve upgraded to the Ultra 2.

Was going to upgrade to the 10 from series 6 this year if the internals got a decent bump at least. But I really don't think I can do 46mm.

I guess Series 6 has one more year in it before Apple stops giving it OS updates. If they don't have a smaller watch with the 11 I'll just dump the watch completely.

Two more updates since it's 6. I am on series 4 and this is the last update.

S8 -> S9 was quite a big upgrade. New display with double the brightness and the S9 is not minor. It's first new SoC since the S6. S6/7/8 are using the same old small core from A13.
90% of it is identical to the previous S8. Double tap is not a big upgrade and no regular consumer is going to care about the SoC upgrade.

For me and those who don’t update every year. What about a series 6 vs series 10?

I can tell you as an owner of a refurbished Apple Watch 7 that functions great I was hoping the 8 and 9 would be upgrades worth paying for but that didn’t happen and if no new health sensors ship with the 10 it’ll be more of the same. Going from my Apple Watch 4 to a 7 was nice upgrade for the price I got for it on Amazon but the 8 and 9 are such minor upgrades I don’t see the point. Especially if it looses a sensor and Apple doesn’t either license the zip to added it back in or come out with a replacement of their own design.

I want a device with more health related sensors. Not fewer or the same as you’d get with the 7. No thanks Apple. Innovate or stop coming out with new model every year. It’s pretty simple.

I just want some solid information on the Ultra 3. Going from 1 to 2 was not worth it. Maybe going to 3 it might be. 🤷‍♂️
