Only people with more money than brains updates one generation to the next. How about compare to series 6/7/8 as well, since that is where most people will be updating from?
I actually think the upcoming “Vitals” app in WatchOS 11 will utilize all the sensors in Watch to give you a “health score”, including wrist temperature.FINALLY new health features.
I stuck with a Series 6 because no new health features were introduced for men in more recent models.
I already committed my upgrade to AWU 2 due to 3G closure, so I’ll skip this year. But bigger watch? What’s the purpose? Those 2 new health features would be cool to have Though.

I know I read that part too, but I'm hopeful. It's the 10th anniversary.Maybe I read it wrong but the article seems to cast doubt on new sensors being in the 10 and that they’ll be delayed for a future model.
It's going to be their thickest, biggest Apple Watch ever.So it’s getting thicker??
Wow, i am speechless. One of the worst Apple watch updates ever. I am still on my AW 4 and will be for a long time. I think Apple stopped innovation since Covid. Most of their workers are chilling in home office.
I currently have S4 SS 44mm. Prior to that I had S2 SS 42mm. The upgrade from S2 to S4 was very significant and hence I was able to justify it. Now I feel that going from S4 to S9 is less of an upgrade than when going from S2 to S4.
No matter what S10 offers, I have no desire to upgrade. I use my watch for daily cycling / walk workouts and Apple Pay. I dont use it for anything else, so I dont mind skipping another generation which most likely will be another disappointment.
Yeah I'm still on a 4 as well and have never seen an essential feature update that drew me to a get a newer model. I probably wouldn't be looking at the 10 if it weren't for the discontinued support for the 4 (well played, Apple...sigh).
I charge my Ultra 1 during my shower and dinner at night. All I need is 30-45 minutes and I have a full battery in time to track my sleep and blood oxygen levels. That’s my biggest request. Better battery life. When doing workouts, navigation, it needs to charge in the evening. Can’t get a full day on battery.
How will those health features work when it needs to get charged during nighttime?
How come other brands are able to get at least 48 hours on battery life while delivering the same options if not more? Fitbit, Garmin
This is why I haven’t given mine up. If I would’ve known the patent ban was coming I would’ve upgraded to the Ultra 2.My Apple Watch Ultra 1 still has amazing battery life and I don't want to give up the blood oxygen feature that still works on it. No upgrade for me.
Yes it does.Legitimate question: doesn't sleep apnea detection require pulse oximetry? I believe I read it's a primary factor and whether it does or doesn't in the series 10, I wonder how that plays out in light of the Masimo litigation..?
Two more updates since it's 6. I am on series 4 and this is the last update. Was going to upgrade to the 10 from series 6 this year if the internals got a decent bump at least. But I really don't think I can do 46mm.
I guess Series 6 has one more year in it before Apple stops giving it OS updates. If they don't have a smaller watch with the 11 I'll just dump the watch completely.
90% of it is identical to the previous S8. Double tap is not a big upgrade and no regular consumer is going to care about the SoC upgrade.S8 -> S9 was quite a big upgrade. New display with double the brightness and the S9 is not minor. It's first new SoC since the S6. S6/7/8 are using the same old small core from A13.
For me and those who don’t update every year. What about a series 6 vs series 10?
