Tim Cook could afford a hundred gold Editions with the mythical gold bracelet, but he wears the least expensive version, and he seemingly wears it everywhere.
Well, he is a classy guy,
But seriously, great subtle messaging. Tim Cook could afford a hundred gold Editions with the mythical gold bracelet, but he wears the least expensive version, and he seemingly wears it everywhere. It says you don't have to spend exorbitant amounts of money to be classy with the Apple watch. It says the more expensive versions are there for the people who like that kind of thing and can afford them, but the least expensive version is good enough for Tim Cook.
Of course, Tim Cook is known to be a sports nut, so he may have simply just gone for the model that fits his personal style. But he can't be unaware of the message he is sending.
Here is an old article of Tim Cook wearing the apple watch (pseudo-wild) ..... still amazing how natural it seems to fit into ordinary life.

Just wanted to put this here where I thought people might in enjoy it! Suzy Menkes, Fashion editor, recently posted a picture of an unknown man wearing the Apple Watch. I think this might be the first time Apple Watch has been spotted out in the wild (aside from press moments with Tim Cook & co.)
My guess is that the man in the picture is Marc Newson. What do you all think?? Regardless, it definitely looks good on! Can't wait to try it on myself![]()

I doubt he's trying to send a message, he's just wearing what he likes. We haven't seen a lot of Watches in the wild with non sport bands (even Jony Ive was wearing a sport band at the September event) so perhaps because the sport bands are easier to produce Apple made more of them for employees testing the watch.
Actually, somewhere in this subforum I remember seeing a picture of an Apple watch in the wild with a leather loop strap. So not all watch testers are running around with a sports band.

Well, if you're getting chauffeured to and from work in a Bentley every day you're pretty much expected to wear a gold watch, aren't you? Also, Jony Ive used he sport band on a gold apple watch during the September apple event... Sir Ive staying classy.

Living impractically far away from where you work is such a stupidly american thing (although Ive is a Limey, of course...) Two hour commute! Jesus. And it's not even all THAT far either, the only reason it would take him two hours to get from S.F. to Cupertino is because of congestion, and why do they have such horrific congestion over there?Considering he lives in San Fran and told Vanity Fair his commute is sometimes two hours
I wonder where he could possibly live in SF that takes two hours.
He lives in Pacific Heights, he bought his new home in 2012 for $25 million.
The train goes to the wrong side of Cupertino from the Apple Campus. It is a nightmare to get through traffic between those freeways. It can also be difficult to get to the train depending on where you live in the City.
I wonder where he could possibly live in SF that takes two hours. I lived right at the geographical center of SF (20th & Douglas). For 16 years I did the commute from there to a building that Apple just tore down to build the spaceship. Even at the height of traffic about 18 years ago (when I moved to Kauai) it was never worse that 55 minutes. At times with no traffic it was 40 minutes.
Is this a legit sport Apple watch in the wild ? http://instagram.com/p/zqVChEDind/
Right. Well then, have a company car come pick him up at the station then. Problems are meant to be solved, and this one isn't that tough a nut to crack. I'd be embarrassed as hell to be privately chauffeured to and from work each day - my ego just isn't big enough for that kind of nonsense. The train goes to the wrong side of Cupertino from the Apple Campus. I suppose efficient mass transit systems is one thing us Euros could teach american city planners; after all, trams for example CAN be so much more than just quaint tourist magnets...It can also be difficult to get to the train depending on where you live in the City.
Wow. That's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing! For 16 years I did the commute from there to a building that Apple just tore down to build the spaceship.
Just to note, that's the house he apparently bought but the New Yorker piece said it was being remodeled (by the same firm doing Apple's new campus) so I doubt it will look like these photos when he moves in.

How big is Cupertino? Not that big, yes? So traversing it by car can't be more than a fraction of the time it takes to travel all the way from SF to Cupertino in the same car.How does that solve the problem of nightmare traffic between the train station and Apple campus?
