Watch has NFC. Using NFC does not need a WIFI. You just wave it in front of the reader like a card (you never seen credit card use WIFI, right?).

What are you trying to clarify, and to whom? Of course I know the watch has NFC and that you will somehow wave the watch in front of a reader.

When in the pool (or on a beach) and needing my iPhone, I wave my hand (wearing a waterproof Omega) and Claudia brings the silly phone. WTF is this apple watch for?

Other than the brand-fooled populace, I cannot see people suddenly parting with their Patek, Omega, IWC, JLC and other diamond studded timepieces for a wearable computer gadget even if it is made of gold.

iWatch has microphone. How can you put it in water with that mike?

Design of course is incredibly subjective and always is with watches. Some people like Rolex. I think they are hideous.

But say what you want. Apple has produces a shape that is inoffensive that can be mix and matched in 2 different sizes and you can find a combo that will appeal to men and women. Something none of the other smart watches have even attempted. They are all clearly MAN watches with big fat faces and thick straps. Nothing elegant there.

My wife has already picked out the white and rose gold and I'll have the stainless / stainless strap or the space black version... perhaps both :) But I bet the gold one is $800+

And I am looking at the design and they have left a lot of room for the watchV2/3 to get thinner but retain the same strap mechanism.

i bet Jennifer Lawrence can't wait for the new activity and GPS tracking data to be stored in her iCloud account, as well as the ability to have all of her credit card information backed up and stored in her iCloud account as well

:apple: Think Again :apple:

You paid attention during the keynote! What else did ya learn??

So.. you don't read the news or actually pay any attention to the keynote.

:apple: Shakes head at idiots :apple:

Ok after looking at that thing, the iWatch doesn't look too bad.

Subjective you see. Won lots of watch awards though.

And if you actually read it ... I was talking about about Mens premium materials.

iwatch

While I really like what I.ve seen of the iwatch..I do NOT want an iPhone. Will an iPhone be mandatory for an iwatch,or will it be able to function at all without an iPhone? If an iPhone is mandatory..i will NOT be getting an iwatch. I don t like iPhones,I do not want to HAVE to use one for an iwatch.

With a waterproof mic?

yes

Do you know of any smartphones you can take for swimming? I never heard. iWatch is not a watch; its a tiny tiny smartphone, a computer. Similarly, did you hear about any notebooks which work underwater? I didn't it.

so $349 for the most basic model.

The gold model is going to be scary $$$$. Problem is, it will depreciate very fast as apple launches a new model annually .

Not sure why people want a water proof watch. Most models are water resistant. This is not a diving watch.

Well most people just want to wear the watch and not have the same, worrying about dropping it in the water, that they have with iPhone. Mostly because it's on your wrist. I would like to be able to have this in the pool and answer calls and texts when my iPhone is on the deck. But I was really worried about washing your hands and breaking your watch with that water. But they made it a little bit waterproof. Not much though.

guaranteed it'll be gone in the Apple Watch 2

dont really mind the rotating crown user interface ...just hope they dont start using it elsewhere :D

I'm getting to the point where I'll avoid purchasing new technology until a major advancement in battery-life has been developed.

My main gripes about the Apple Watch:
1) No mention of its battery
2) Very dependent on an iPhone
3) No FaceTime camera. I feel that this could have been a major selling feature that they missed out on.

Could you explain why something that is water resistant to 33 feet isn't suitable for swimming?

Because it isn't "resistant to 33 feet". It is resistant to a water spray with equivalent pressure of 33 feet below surface. It is not meant to be be submerged.

That's why you have the choice of stainless steel and aluminum. Fun fact, the gold iPhone was the hardest one to find shortly after the iPhone 5s launch. A lot of folks love their gold I guess.

They make fewer gold iPhones.

Disappointed

To be honest, I was far more excited about the prospect of something more revolutionary like the mockups here: http://wpuploads.appadvice.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/toddham_iwatch_all-642x481.png

A smart band which I can use to record swims, rides and paddles for upload direct to Strava and maybe even take calls on (without being tethered to an iPhone) - now that's an exciting prospect to me.

I'll wait for the next version. I can afford to wait, I haven't worn a watch since I got my first mobile phone :)

I agree the Watch is looking very good and will get better in future generations, but how long before the Apple Watch 2?

Wish they would do something on that front, a water resistant iPhone would be good, I'm not talking water proof as in dropping it in the sink but if you're out in the rain and it's in your pocket it should be safe.

Agreed. I mean I am probably OCD about it b/c of all the dumb stories out there about triggering the water sensor, but if it's drizzling or snowing, I am super cautious w/ my iPhone, always!

Switzerland is in trouble my arse.

I like you Jony but this wasn't even close.

It's a non-starter for me. It looks hideous, it looks 'big', the clasp area looks clunky. This is what Apple has worked something like five years on?

Seriously?

And if it gets wet, it's ruined?

Seriously?

For the looks of the thing, that had better be one small 'watch'... And I can get a really cheap watch at the grocery that would be able to be worn while swimming, and for a few bucks more, I can get one that I could SCUBA with...

And neither of the six's are water resistant? THAT would be an earth shaking phone feature that would make me want to crawl across broken glass to buy.

The hype seems to be gone already.

No big arguments, no counter-arguments, no fancy interviews, quotes, funny images, no "imagine what you could do". Just some "looks nice, I get one" and a lot of question marks on what the specs will be.

Ignoring a product is one way to say how you feel about it. And it is not even released yet.

There's no way this kind of a watch is "ok" for swimming. No smartwatches of this kind are waterproof for pools.

But not proof. This is also water resistant.

This is nowhere near the water resistance of something like a Rolex. This can't even handle swimming or showering, let aline snorkeling or diving.

So like an apple product?

Since when do Apple products contain ancient technology, silly gimmicks that don't work in the real world, or cheats like processors that run at full speed only while running benchmark apps?

These are Samsung's trademark qualities.
