Depends how you feel about Imagine Dragons.

If my company brought in Imagine Dragons to perform it would be for ironic reasons at our going out of business commiseration party.

I'm not a huge Imagine Dragons fan either. My point still stands. You don't throw a fancy cocktail party in San Francisco with live music for a product that is a flop.

And didn't android wear sell only 720,000 in the whole of 2014? So several different manufacturers, and 4 times the amount of time and Apple still sold more than 3 X the amount of watches. Yeah, total failure

im not sure if add all wearables sales for all manafacturers , they would be considered a success.

Maybe Apple watch 2 will turn that around.

That's rich coming from someone who's drenched in confirmation bias.

Apple's said nothing about sales, which is unusual for them since they're usually quick to brag about the unbelievable success their other products enjoy. All I know is that every time Apple's launched something in the past, it's usually a day at best before I see it at work, from friends, in my Facebook feed, whatever. 3 months in, and I've still never seen a single person with the Apple Watch. Not on my feed, not walking around Chicago, and not at work. Since I am a betting man, I'm going to bet with Slice on this one.

This product has been on the market for roughly three months with ZERO credible sales information. How can anyone make informed statements with so little credible information? The people using Slice Intelligence to say this product is a flop are just engaging in confirmation bias.

Significantly fewer sales than predicted by financial analysts last year, when the product was revealed..

They estimated 10, 15 and even 30 million units sold in 2015.

This story reports only an estimate, and only US sales, but I don't see global sales for 2015 hitting 10 million, let alone higher.

If US sales are 3m in 3 months, then global sales are at least 5m. At this rate, including the holiday season in the U.S., I think we can expect a solid 17-23m Apple Watch sales in the first year. That's a major success.

It always makes us feel better about ourselves when we get compared to lesser people (in our minds) doesn't it! Is this true with the above statement?

Back at the end of May Apple executives threw an Apple Watch party in San Francisco for employees who worked on the product (you can find some photos on Instagram). Imagine Dragons performed. According to one account:

https://illogicaloutcome.wordpress....ons-as-a-treat-for-a-job-amazingly-well-done/

Now honestly if the product was the failure that many in the media are spinning it out to be (the latest is a laughable story from Mark Wilson at Fast Company) would Apple executives be throwing a party for employees involved with the product and telling them demand is exceeding expectations? You don't throw a party and bring in Imagine Dragons to perform for something that's a flop.

Your very much confusing rewarding staff for thier efforts to sales.

There is no relationship between a launch party thanking staff for thier efforts and sales of an item. I've never been throw a party for how a product Performed, plenty of parties for getting stuff out.

Have an awful or great year at work, and you will still get a Xmas party ;)

If Apple had sold 20 million say, they would have released sales figures for sure. 3 million - sure its ok - remembering that Apple Watch is dependant on having an iPhone so that reduces the total market significantly.
Before the product ever went on sale Tim Cook said they weren't going to release figures on it and would be reporting it in the "other" category along with TV, Beats and other accessories. If Apple was expecting iPhone or even iPad like sales for this product from day one there's no way they'd get away with reporting it as "other".

You are entitled to your opinion but MacRumors does not run advertisements disguised as posts ever and received zero kickback or monetary compensation from Slice Intelligence for publishing this article.

No they were just guaranteed an exclusive, it clearly states that about 3 lines into the article!

So when Apple executives tell employees demand is phenomenal and continues to grow beyond their expectations are they lying? If they are they're certainly not going to get away with it for long.

It's no surprise that the Apple Watch failed: Apple's products success lies on the lack of competition x need for a product x ecosystem locking for most casual users AND then the couch potato fans to buy blindly.

3M fans bought blindly, I consider that a success given that the watch however is ugly, useless, fat and has little battery which is why nobody else bought it.

Now the question is will the Apple Watch follow the iPhone route as it gets better, or will it follow the iPad route ie. the fad for a useless gadget that fails to be a paradigm changer will eventually stagnate and fall?

It's amazing that 2015 isn't over and you're calling them wrong. Firstly, it's not global and it's not wholly US. It's people ordering online in the US and then it's not all of them. Secondly, wait for christmas. These things will go like gangbusters.

They used the word phenomenal..... Must be really special ... ;)

You of all people should know it's in thier DNA... This comes to mind to illustrate my point...

I have one and I like it…..

However, the way this product was launched left a bad taste in my mouth. Appointments for watch try ons, only in high end boutique stores at launch, special rooms & deliveries for the “Edition” not to forget the endless shipping delays.

It’s sad watching all those older, rich Apple executives trying to be hip and fit in with the the “Cool” people…...
I kind of hope that their sales numbers are lower than they expected so maybe they learn the lesson to stick to their roots :)

And what are people such as yourself doing? Just the opposite of the naysayers.

Last October Tim Cook said Apple would not be providing data on the Watch and they would be reporting it in the "other" category along with TV, Beats and other accessories. That was also when Apple said they would no longer be reporting retail as a stand alone business. This is what Tim Cook said at the time:

"It says nothing about our expectations about the product," Cook said, adding that things could change in the future. "I'm not very anxious in reporting a lot of numbers on Apple Watch and giving a lot of detail because competitors look for it."

Now if one doesn't buy Tim Cook's comments, the only other reason for hiding the Watch within an "other" category would be because Apple doesn't expect it to be an iPhone/iPad like blockbuster from day one. But if that's the case it's kind of hard to call it a flop if Apple's expectations for it were modest from the get go.
