I know it looks fine, but its just too thick for my taste, I wear my apple watch everywhere, dates, restaurants, work....45mm series 7 or 8 is what I'll prolly settle for.
Then stop working and you will soon have no money for dating and restaurants. Problem solved. Ultra is an Ultimate sacrifice. Only few chosen can do it and Ultra is choosing you. It’s calling your name. 😂

I'm strongly considering buying a white ocean band and/or Starlight Alpine Loop. Let us know how you like your white ocean band! I'm liking the blue ocean band.
I would go with the White Ocean Band. It looks stunning 🤩. I got tired of thinking and looking at it all day so i was like what’s another $100.00 on this ⌚️. The struggle is real today. Get it, have no regrets!!!

I just received delivery of the Apple Watch Ultra with green alpine loop in Sydney Australia. I also bought the orange alpine loop.

@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 - As promised I made a first impressions thread anyway even though a lot of you lucky Americans have got the watch already!

First impressions:
  • Packaging is nice and offers a different, more premium unboxing experience.
  • The watch is not as big as I expected. The case is bigger and thicker but it doesn’t feel heavier on the wrist compared to the S7 stainless steel.
  • For reference, my wrist size is 155mm and I wear a Size 5 solo loop. The two alpine loops I have are both size small.
  • The natural titanium looks and feels premium. I’ve always had stainless steel versions so I’m interested to see what the wear and tear will look like
  • The G hook on the alpine loop will take some getting used to. It wasn’t easy to take the watch on and off.
  • The flat screen looks and feels amazing to swipe on and it’s a clear differentiator from the standard series.
  • Display area is only slightly bigger than my Series 7 and the bezels are noticeable. They’re probably waiting til next year to reduce them and make it an incentive to upgrade.
  • Action button is useful for starting workouts. Will need to play around more to see what secondary functions I can assign to it.
Comparison pics are with my Series 7 Hermès.

Band pics include sport band, solo loop, leather loop, leather link, Milanese loop, steel link bracelet and some Hermès leather single tours.

Happy to take questions!

Edited to add pics of the midnight ocean band. Feels so nice!

I got my Ultra earlier today. I love the green alpine band. But I'm a bit disappointed the screen is smaller than I thought as a lot of the extra size of the watch is really about the case and the bezels are still quite thick. Also, I wish they had chamfered the edges of the watch as I'm find them quite sharp.

Granted the watch is designed for hardy outdoor enthusiasts and I get that, but I'll be the first to admit I was hoping to make this my daily driver. I'm a little crest fallen.

View attachment 2078108View attachment 2078106I’ve never had an AW and went a little nuts. Picked up the series 8 GPS only 41mm & the Ultra. Love them both! I’m using the 41mm for sleep tracking, when playing guitar, and other activities where a smaller watch is more comfortable. The Ultra will be for daily use when I don’t want to carry my phone and setting waypoints between the couch and fridge.
Wait…it looks like you are using the 45mm Nike band on the Ultra. Is that right/doable? I thought that only 49mm bands would work on the Ultra.

Perfect fit just like my 44mm Series 6 with my Nomad Titanium band! Woohoo!View attachment 2077999

So, two quick things. Just noticed that your dial is on the bottom left. I remember getting asked this during the set up but ignored it since my conscious is always used to have the dial on the right. Very neat and nice to see someone using it that way.

Another, can you post more pics? I almost pulled the trigger on the Nomad Titanium band but wanted to see more of this combo.

It literally makes no sense to do this by Apple. Seems like the early days of the Apple Watch. It’s basically a separate package so Apple is going to make you return a perfectly good Ultra because you need a size M instead of a L? Terrible!
He’s wrong. They changed their policy 3+ years ago and will allow a size exchange of the band without returning the watch.

That’s incorrect. For the last several years Apple will allow exchanges of band for size without exchanging the watch.
Probably depends on country then. An Aussie on the local forum said he went into a store today and they told him he can’t change his band and have to return the whole combo.

Any idea if this counts for band style? Not into the alpine band that came with the watch but the ocean band has been nice

How much do y’all think this thing would depreciate next year. The thing about all apple watches is they have horrible value. The bands hood value more than the watch. So I never saw fit to buy steel or Hermes or any of that ridiculous price. Honestly if apple had a yearly upgrade program that cost me 200 a year for the latest Watch with trade in I would do it.
